Chapter 52 - Humanity's Greatest Weapon

Along the many tables, a single man rested against the walls of the palace, his long purple hair fluttering in the wind.

Seeing the cyan-haired young and the marking that appear on his body made him nearly lose his mind.

He wasn't a deity and even his power way behind the other begins in there, yet there was no way he won't recognize it. It's true many demon clan descendents has spread through the space and even some smaller dimensions.

Not only that, the demon race has enemies across the galaxy, some which are extremely fearsome. Kez even heard some stories about some of these enemy races...

The entire ground was rumbling as Luccas portrayed a very powerful and imposing aura. The cyan energy around him had tremendous power as it pressed towards Thomas like a towering mountain, suppressing his movements.

Thomas was staring at the transformation so very similar yet different to his own demon.

Facing another of Luccas' attacks, Thomas didn't show any panic on his face yet it didn't look confident as well.

When the incoming punch, Thomas struck out like lightning. When facing a strong Adept, Thomas didn't dare to be careless and just put all his strength in this attack.

He focused so much of his energy that his arm had even become bigger. On his skin, there are thin lines of green, yellow and red colors.

It was a simple punch, but its moment didn't look to be much weaker than the last.

"Idiot, a fist can't win against my power."

The two fists finally collided. For a moment, neither of them shown a reaction, only when Thomas' expression suddenly falted.

Crack!

The energy shield around Thomas suddenly cracked and shattered. It was obliterated without any resistance.

Thomas suffered from the huge impact, and he was forced to take three steps back before being able to stabilize himself.

Once he arrived at the corner of the fighting stage, his expression was then replaced by a deep shock.

Slowly Luccas walked towards Thomas, he stored back the sword in his hand. "Pitiful, It looks like I won't need it anymore. Thomas, you have no idea how I felt after that day, all the humiliation. It is as my father taught me, there is no need for friends where there's power. Soon, your cousin, the teaches and all his classmates will and there is nothing you can do."

He said that when he suddenly kicked thomas in the chin, throwing him meters away.

....

Minutes earlier, red-haired Claire was facing the seven mercenaries in black and white armor, none of them had taken action yet.

Captain what should we do?"

"Alpha Team, our orders are to capture the target. Remember, the use of any lethal force is strictly prohibited as we don't want to attract the alliance's attention."

Claire could only snort upon seeing the arrogance in their gazes. It was not because she's just seventeen that others could dare underestimate her. Inside her mind, she also heard the voice of her other self say something then her eyes lit up. Before waiting for them to take action, Clare mobilized all her energy. Small embers bloomed across their feet before it suddenly expanded, forming flame sphere around the captain and his men.

"What is happening!" The group of mercenaries put their hands over their faces as they felt the air inside the spherical prison diminish, making it very difficult to breathe.

"Prison Sphere?!" The captain was the first to recognize the technique used to them and was stunned.

Prison Sphere is an Bio class Anima Technique of the Medium grade that almost any Adept could learn.

Its primary use was to form sphere-shaped prisons made purely of anima energy and many researchers and soldiers use it to transport monsters from one point to another.

Despite having quite the low rank, this technique couldn't be underestimated since the power of the sphere prison was equivalent to the energy used to make it.

Stronger adepts could easily make almost unbreakable prison spheres that could be very hard to escape from.

As an mercenary working to the Kyle group he had faced some Adepts before that could use this same technique, yet the blood red sphere which surrounding him right now was completely different from what he had seen. This one not only couldn't emprison, as it seemed to burn all the air inside the prison, making the interior devoid of oxygen.

"Shit! Curse you Flame Empress!" The captain of the Alpha Team could only curse in his mind as his head started to grown fainter.

In a matter of a few seconds, the flames dissipated revealing the captain and his men collapsed on the ground.

This was a risky yet efficient technique there hasn't been tested before, a technique a person with the ability to produce flames like her could attempt to make.

"Good. Now I need to... Thomas!" The second dispersed her flames, she was shocked to find Thomas flying dozen of meters away after taking a kick from Luccas.

"I..." Claire could really feel all the anxiety Clarisse felt at that moment and was unsure about what to do when she heard a voice in her mind.

"Clarisse and Claire, its me Thomas. Don't worry about me, I have found the position of my cousin and all the others. Just follow the map I'm transmitting to you, it has both their location and another path leading to the exit."

Claire was stunned. All she saw was Thomas getting beaten up while the voice in her mind sounded pretty calm.

When her eyes were directed at Thomas, their eyes exchanged glances for a moment then she seemed to understand.

Without looking back, Claire gathered her forces and dashed north following the map that appeared in her mind.

'Hehe.' Thomas showed an invisible smile as he saw her figure get away. Suddenly, his eyes which were weak and almost lifeless were wide open and filled with light.

'Overclock Deactivate'

Thomas eyes were glowing. While it may look like Thomas was losing during the entire time, there was no way Luccas could possibly know Thomas wasn't even focused on the fight. But did Thomas really need to win against Luccas? He already knew this new form of was way too powerful for him to handle without demonic powers.

To Thomas the battle was important, sure. But how could it even compare to the dozen of lives he had to save? This reminded him of something he read about something a famous person once said. That the greatest weapon given to the human race were not swords, modern guns or even nuclear bombs, no, the greatest tool and weapon of humanity is the brain and the ability to adapt to almost any situation.

Finally, he used his greatest weapon and came up with a plan not to win this battle, but to win the war.

And so he had been using his skill to the max together with his senses to scan the labyrinthian for the students of Dexia Institute while receiving a beating from Luccas.

But now he has fulfilled his goal, he only need to trust that Clarisse will be able to take everybody away safely. Of course, this whole plan wouldn't have worked if Luccas hadn't been so obsessed with him that he'd forgotten Clarisse was there.

Simply, Luccas was being played in his hands without even knowing.
