So Samson's wife came to him weeping and said, "You have no love for me. You hate me!
You have gathered my people together and have not told me what it means. "
Samson said to her,
"I didn't even tell my father and mother, did you?"
Samson's wife wept for the seven days of the feast. But on the seventh day Samson told her the answer, because she insisted.
Then he told his countrymen. So the people said to Samson on the seventh day, before the sun went down,
"Is there anything sweeter than honey? And is there anything stronger than a lion? "
Samson answered,
"If you have not plowed with my ox, you would never know the answer. "
Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Samson, and he became strong. He went to Ashkelon and killed 30 men there, robbed them and stripped them of their fine clothes and gave them to the people who had answered the riddle.
Then he went home to them very angry at what had happened. Samson's wife was given to the bridegroom's wife.
Soon, the wheat harvest came. Samson visited his wife and brought her a young goat.
He told his father -in -law,
"I want to go into my wife's room." But he did not let his father -in -law in.
She said to Samson, "I thought you hated her, so I gave her to your friend. But her younger sister is more beautiful than her. He is yours. "
Samson said,
"Then don't blame me for what I have done to the Philistines."
So he went and caught 300 wild dogs. In pairs, he tied their tails and set torches on them. Then he put out their torches, and let the dogs go into the Philistine threshing -floor, and burned not only the wheat, but also the harvest. The olives were also burned.
Then the Philistines asked,
"Who has done this?" They knew that Samson had done this because his father-in-law from Timnah had given Samson's wife to his friend.
So the Philistines came up and burned Samson's wife and her father -in -law with fire.
Samson said to them,
"So you are! I swear I will never give up until I get my revenge on you! "
He attacked them and killed many. Then he left and stayed in the cave on the rock Etam.
