Then Samson went to Gaza, and there he met a wicked woman, and committed adultery with her. And when the men of Gaza heard that he was there, they surrounded the place, and laid hold on him at the gate of the city all night.
They kept quiet all night and said to each other, "Let's wait until morning, then let's kill him."
But Samson slept until midnight. Then he got up and lifted up the city gate with its bolts, pillars, bars and so on.
He carried it and brought it to the top of the hill overlooking Hebron.
