Chapter 7 - From Pet to Friend

"Look at me and keep looking at me." Celaine grabbed Devi's shoulders and gently shook her. "I am. I am" Devi giggled and gave a silly smile. "Devi… I'm pretty sure you will get more childish as time passes with that poor health of yours. You're becoming more and more retarded."

Devi blinked and smiled brightly. She was about to give a hug to Celaine but she swiftly dodged. "Begone demon or I will get as brainless as you…" Then she mumbled, "Wait, I can't escape… I have to be her slave. Let's play dead." Celaine dropped to the ground, stuck her tongue out to the side and closed her eyes.

Devi giggled and got closer to the "dead" Celaine. She poked her cheeks and then pulled on them. Devi's eyes shone and she smiled happily. Celaine has already been contaminated by the brainless virus...

Celaine felt someone getting near to her ear. Soon a voice was heard. One that froze her to the bones. "Are you dead, little bunny? Or are you asking… for something more stimulating~" Calaine flinched and opened her eyes wide with surprise. She was face to face with Eden. She couldn't understand how Eden could just pop up at the worst time and give her the fright of her life. She wonders if that much time has passed since Eden left.

Celaine was about to scream, but her mouth was quickly covered by a soft hand. "Hush little bunny, don't say a word." Celaine tried to find Devi with her eyes to ask for help but she could only see Eden's face. Her icy blue eyes, attractive grin and hair were covering her view of the rest of the room. There were visible tears appearing in Celaine's eyes. An innocent voice made them stop from falling down.

"Mommy, I really like my new friend. She's just a child, don't scare her away. I will be lonely… pleaseee?" Eden looked at her daughter with a small hopeless smile. "But sweetie… She's a naughty bunny. And your boyfriend is also bad." Devi shook her head and made puppy eyes. "I love them like they are. I also love you a lot and if you are going to hurt them… I… I'll hate you!"

Eden's face turned a little white and her smile completely disappeared. "No, sweetie. You know I'll do everything you want, right?" She even sounded a little panicked. Devi smiled. "Yes, mommy. I love you!" With a sigh Eden replied: "I love you too…"

Eden looked back at Celaine and whispered the same thing as to Bexley. Celaine eyes shook. If you looked at them, you would see no light in them. Eden let her on the ground and took Devi's hand. "Do you want to go see your father?"

Devi got all excited and wanted to say yes but when she opened her mouth to talk her expression suddenly changed. "Why? I love you more." Eden pinched her cheek with her other hand. "I also love you more than him." They both giggled. "You should still say hi once in a while or he will die…" Devi pouted but a small voice in her head was asking why she felt unhappy about it.

They both walked past Celaine who now looked more dead than when she was acting. Devi was dragged by her mother to the location of her father. While walking, she kept looking with confusion at the wall and everything. Her mother, looking at her face, asked worriedly "Something is wrong? Does your head hurt?"

Without hesitation, Devi said "Don't worry mom. I feel fine. I just never knew my room was in such a big mansion." Eden shook her head. "What are you saying silly? That wasn't your room and this is our house. Our second house to be more exact. Did you forget because of the accident?"

"Accident…" Devi frowned and a sweat dripped off her forehead. She seemed to remember a dream. It was blurry. It looked like some kind of fire but then when the image cleared, she saw something pushing her off a high place into... Devi held her mother's hand tightly. "I can't remember? T-there is something I can't remember."

Eden put on a sad expression. "The good thing is that you forgot about the bad memory and still remember the good ones but the bad news is that I won't be able to find the culprit…" She let out a sigh. "It's ok mom. I'm fine now." Eden smiled. "I know. I love you sweetie." Devi smiled like a happy puppy. Eden looked far ahead with a blank expression while her eyes shone with a golden light.

After walking and walking, they entered a big library. Devi looked curiously at the books. One in particular got her attention but she couldn't go take it yet. She was dragged in her dazed state by her hand towards her father.

Eden cleared her throat. The man who was concentrating on reading a book took his eyes off it and looked into Eden direction. A smile beamed on his face. "Eden darling!"

Eden cleared her throat again and showed with her eyes Devi who was looking towards where the book was. Ames, Devi's father got off his chair and ran with his arms wide open while crying out "Devviiii-"

Devi heard her name and looked at her father who was rushing at her. At the same time, Eden let go of her hand. When Ames saw his daughter's eyes, he stopped running towards her and his screaming turned into a question. "-iiii? Who are you?"
