Chapter 45 - Visited by an Angel

"We need to talk!" Imena whispered silently into Trinity's ear, before immediately dashing back over to her friend, Kathryn.

Trinity blinked in confusion. 'What was that about?' she wondered. It was so brief and so quick, that it almost seemed like her speech never happened.

Imena was back over with Kathryn now, and they were both jubilantly thanking Amara, who just smiled at them happily. They were both giddy with excitement, and Trinity couldn't help but smile for what Amara did for the both of them.

Trinity suddenly stood up straight as she blinked in surprise, realizing she had just praised Amara mentally for something. But still, she couldn't deny that what Amara had done for them, was a selfless and noble thing to do. It just felt awkward thinking of Amara as having done a good deed. Regardless, she was just happy for Kathryn and Imena. They deserved to be happy and celebrate.

Imena turned around at that moment. "Would you mind if we borrowed your friend to go celebrate?"

Amara seemed a bit surprised at the question.

"It's just, it would be nice to have another person with me to celebrate right now, and I wouldn't mind meeting a new friend!" Imena answered with a radiant smile.

"Well, I am sorry, but Trinity is afflicted with another issue that I have been trying to diagnose and heal. She is restricted to these premises for the time being, but if you wish, you may celebrate here. I shall leave you for the time being." Amara bowed her head and glanced at Trinity. "Please come find me later, when you are alone."

With that, Amara walked off to leave the three girls by themselves. While Kathryn was glancing back and forth, trying to figure out what was going on. "Why aren't you allowed to leave here?" she asked.

Trinity led them over to an area in the garden where they could sit. She began to explain what she knew so far, and what had happened to her.

Imena placed a hand on Trinity's hand in comfort. "That explains what we felt earlier. I would like to let you in on a little secret. Although I was born blind, I was born with the ability to see a person's aura. Your aura, although it appears unstable right now, it's powerful."

She smiled and glanced over at Kathryn before looking back at Trinity. "I didn't tell Kathryn this, but the reason I came here wasn't necessarily to be healed, but it was to see you. You see, I had an angel visit me in my dream, who told me to come find you."

Trinity peaked at attention when she mentioned this. Why would an angel reach out to someone to have them find her, but not want to discuss it in front of Amara? Nor did she know if it were even possible to reach out to a human, through the barrier that made up the Void. There was still so much about that place she did not yet understand.

Imena nodded. "I wish I could give a description, but unfortunately the image I saw in my dream, I do not yet know how to correspond it to color or detail that you would be familiar with. But I can tell you that he possessed two separate sets of wings, unlike Amara who only has one set. I'm assuming that would mean that he is a higher rank? Possibly an arch-angel maybe?"

Trinity nodded. The double wing theory did make sense, and she hadn't thought about it at the time when she had been in the Void. But still, this made her wonder if the "angel" who had visited her in her dream, wasn't an angel at all, but had been Lucifer, instead? Lucifer had claimed to be a god, and not an angel. Is that what the double wings meant?

"What did he say?" Trinity asked, curious to know if this really had been Lucifer.

"He told me to tell you that you are running out of time, and that if you do not perform the incantation soon, you will die. He explained that the incantation that was given to you, wasn't just meant to help another. It was also meant to save your life.

"The energy that you mentioned that overloaded your system, changed you. He said that he sensed it when the two of you met before. So he worked into the incantation, a way to heal you, at the same time. He just didn't tell you at the time, because he didn't want to frighten you over the possibility of dying. However, he also went on to explain that he thought you would have more time, but he had been wrong. So now he regrets not telling you.

"You need to escape from here and do whatever it is that he has sent you to do!" Imena finished. She was panting hard as she finished her message.

"I apologize!" Imena spoke softly. "The message he gave me was pretty intense and I think I am still feeling some of the effects as I am repeating it now."

Trinity looked down at the ground. "I want to leave, but Amara won't allow it. How am I supposed to get past an angel who can fly?"

Kathryn didn't understand the question. "Why would Amara be against it? If she knew that another angel is asking that this task needs to be done, then why wouldn't she assist you?"

"NO!" Both Trinity and Imena shouted in unison, causing Kathryn to flinch, and her baby to start crying. Kathryn immediately began bouncing and cooing at her daughter, to help her relax and calm down.

"I'm so sorry!" Trinity whispered.

"I apologize for my outburst!" Imena replied right after. "I can't quite explain it. Although he only spoke a few words to me, it was as if the emotions behind his words held more power than his words did. Does that make sense? All I know is, he doesn't want to include Amara in this."

Kathryn frowned. She still didn't understand the reasoning behind why Amara would be against it, but she trusted Imena completely.

Trinity, on the other hand, understood Imena's words perfectly. Because when learning the incantation, Lucifer had to explain to her that it wasn't just important to get the words right. She had to focus on her thoughts as well. The mental energy and thoughts applied to the incantation was just as important to the spell as the spoken words were.

It made sense that his visit in Imena's dream would have held a hidden emotional message, behind his words. That could explain why Imena had been panting in distress from her explaining what Lucifer had told her.

"Now the only thing to figure out is, how much time do I have left, and how can I escape?" Trinity commented.

"No. For now, we just need to relax and have fun! Or else Amara will be suspicious!" Imena grinned.

~*~*~*~*~

Amara smiled at the three girls as they all said their good-byes.

"I'm glad you were able to have a good time and enjoy yourself today. You needed that." Amara said.

Trinity looked up in surprise. Amara's words had been so unexpected to her. "Thank you!" she replied. "I did enjoy myself today, and I had a really good time. Kathryn and Imena are both very nice!"

"So, did you notice anything earlier?" Amara asked suddenly. "When I was healing her."

"I-I'm not sure." Trinity stammered, not sure as to how much she should mention for what she had seen. She wanted to test it on her own, away from Amara.

Amara shook her head as she grinned. "Let's make an agreement not to lie to each other, shall we? Although you were doing your best to contain your emotional broadcasts, I could still sense leaks radiating from you when you were surprised or interested."

Trinity looked down at the ground nervously. "Yes, well, I've never seen someone heal another before. Anytime Zyxel ever healed me, I was basically unconscious for the most part." She flinched as soon as she saw Amara's face go cold at the mention of her brother's name.

"Let's not speak of such lesser creatures. He is beneath you." She took a step forward and reached out as if she were about to touch Trinity's cheek, before freezing her hand in mid-air. She pulled her hand back, remembering how touching her skin would cause pain and numbness due to the protection spell that had been placed on her.

"You are like a caterpillar right now. Growing into something new. At least, that is what I am hoping for." Amara finished.

"But will I turn into a moth, or a butterfly?" Trinity joked.

Amara scowled at the reference. "You will not become like him, if that is what you are insinuating. Because you will have me here to nurture and guide you. I can teach you so many things, if only you just trust me."

She didn't want to say that she didn't think that Trinity would survive this transformation. Even now, she could sense that her broadcast outbursts were becoming more chaotic and was slipping up more frequently. If only she could touch her, she'd be able to read the energy in her body better. Figure out if it was breaking down, or if it was evolving.

"Now, what is it that you could see, or feel?" Amara repeated.

Biting her lower lip, Trinity continued to debate if she should tell her. She decided to give her just enough info so that Amara would explain to her exactly what she had witnessed. Then maybe she could figure out why that white energy was calling to her.

"It was weak, so I'm not sure what it was that I saw. But it looked like you withdrew some type of... energy?-" She asked, feigning confusion. "-out of her hand, and then transferred it to her eyes when you healed her."

"Was that all you could see?" Amara asked, seemingly disappointed.

Trinity nodded, even though it wasn't the truth.

"What you had seen me draw upon was her life force. However, I combined it with divine energy, before I used it to heal her. Most humans do not react well when exposed to divine energy. You are a rare exception. I would assume that either your father, or your mother might have been as well, although quite possibly to a lesser degree.

"So in order to avoid a potential risk of a human reacting negatively to the divine energy, we mix it with their own life force. This dilutes the divine energy enough that it will not be such a shock to their system, before letting it enter their body to heal them." Amara explained.

"That actually makes sense!" Trinity exclaimed in shock.

Amara laughed. "Did you think that I would lie to you about something like this? I want to see you grow! I just hope it will turn out positively."

"But why?" Trinity asked.

Amara looked at her in confusion.

"Why do you want to help me? This is just some weird side effect from my body having been overloaded with too much energy running through it. I'm not ignorant. I've seen the looks of pity you've given me from time to time, through that smile that you always wear. You think I'm going to die, don't you?"

Trinity just wanted to change the conversation. Now that she knew that the brown energy she had seen was human life energy, and the white energy was divine energy. But this only brought up more questions for her, than it did answers. Plus, she wanted to hear Amara's response about if Lucifer's message held any truth.

"I will explain it to you as direct and to the point, as I possibly can. I think you have a very high probability chance of this tearing down your cells, yes. I have experienced humanity for thousands of years. The human body is not capable of harnessing the energies that we can. Although it has magnified your cells temporarily, it is rapidly becoming more and more unstable in recent events.

"I'm sure that even now, you can sense that it is more difficult today to control your emotional broadcasts, than it was yesterday? I can sense your control slipping gradually, little by little. I feel it is only a matter of time before they begin to break down even further, under the pressure."

Trinity hadn't expected Amara's answer to be so blunt. Usually she answers cheerfully or joyfully. Nor did it seem like Amara was lying to her either.

But she couldn't deny the truth of Amara's words, though. She could feel her control getting weaker. Although, she had assumed it was due to her broadcasts just getting stronger. If that was not the case, and they remained plateaued at the same level as previously, then it really did mean that she was losing control, rather than gaining control.

She clenched her fists in anger. Was it really that bad? "Is there no hope?" she whispered in dismay.

"That's what I would like to find out!" Amara answered.

'And that's why I need to find Zyxel!' Trinity thought silently to herself.
