Chereads / Lady Nosferatu and the wolf girl / Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Narration by Ms Felicia Ada

May 12, 1935

We went to go see a show at the theater.

It was a performance of a play called "Our Town."

The story was about a young man who died, but his spirit was still in his home town.

"That was a beautiful play," I said, "What did you think of it?"

"It was lovely," she said, "But, there was a sad ending."

"Yes," I said, "it was."

I was thinking, how many years ago was it that we both lost our parents?

How many years old was it that Margaret lost her baby sister?

How many times have we had to run from a town, because we killed somebody?

How many times have we had to move around, in order to hide what we are?

I am a werewolf, and Margaret is a vampire.

I always wondered if there were any other vampires or werewolves out there, like us?

Or, was it just the two of us?

I was lost in thought.

I could not stop thinking about our lives.

I was so lost in thought, that I did not realize that the sun was rising.

"Hey," said Margaret, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," I said, "I was just thinking."

"What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing," I said, "Let's go."

We walked out of the theater and headed back to the inn.

When we got to our room, Margaret closed the curtains and we both climbed into the coffin.

"What's wrong? What's troubling you? You can tell me anything. We have been through a lot together and you are my one true love. I will never stop loving you. I will never stop being with you. So, what are you thinking about? You can tell me. I will listen. We can work through this together. You can tell me anything. Come on, tell me. Tell me. Tell me."

I rested my head on her shoulder.

"Alright I'll tell you, I was just thinking about all of the things that happened to us. The cult that killed our families then turned us into a vampire and a werewolf for instance; were there any more of them? If so, where were they using us as a sacrifice?"

Margaret hugged me tight.

"It seemed that they were trying to get the powers of the vampire and the werewolf, but instead they just turned us into monsters."

"I know," she said, "But, I think about my parents a lot. They were very loving people. They never hurt anybody."

"I know. I miss my family too, my parents were the best and my little sister; she was so young and innocent. She didn't deserve to die."

"Do you suppose we are the only ones? Or could there be only vampires or werewolves out there? Or, are there some of each? Are we the last? Or, are there more like us?"

"I don't know," she said, "I would like to think there are more like us, but we were the ones used in the ritual. I think it's likely we are the first ones. I was wondering, is it possible to make anyone else like us?"

"I really don't know," I said, " I suppose we could try, maybe if we simply just bite someone without killing them perhaps they will become like us. It's worth a try, isn't it? Maybe, we should find someone and give them a try."

"Let's sleep on it and talk about it tomorrow night."

"Okay," I said, "Sounds good. Goodnight, dear."

"Goodnight," she said.

I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

The next night, we decided to try and make another vampire or werewolf.

Margaret and I went to the local bar to play our music as usual, perhaps we could find someone there to try and turn.

There were many people in the bar.

We played our music.

There was one girl who jumped up from her seat and began to dance.

She was very pretty, and had long brown hair.

"Wow," I said, "I wonder who she is?"

"Whoever she is," said Margaret, "She's got talent. Hey, there's an empty table over there, let's sit down."

"Okay," I said.

We went over and sat down.

"Wow," said the girl, "Your music is fantastic. What's your name?"

"Thanks," I said, "I'm Felicia, and this is my sister, Margaret."

"Nice to meet you," she said, "I'm Jessica. Do you live around here?"

"We live at the inn," said Margaret.

"Really," she said, "So you two touring musicians or something?"

"Something like that," I said.

"Hey bartender, how about a drink for these two ladies," yelled Jessica.

"Okay," he said, "One moment."

He went to the bar and came back with two drinks.

"Here you go," he said.

"Thanks," we both said.

"So," said Jessica, "How long are you in town for?"

"Not sure," I said, "Maybe a few days."

"Great," she said, "Can we go for a little walk maybe. I'd love to hear more about your music."

"Sure," I said, "Let's go."

We all walked out of the bar.

It was a nice night.

"So," she said, "Tell me, what do you do when you're not playing music?"

"Well," said Margaret, "We like to hike and swim."

Margaret opened her mouth as she leaned over to Jessie's neck.

Her canine teeth grew and her eyes turned red.

Jessica stood there, staring at Margaret as if she was under a spell.

I guess the part about vampires having hypnotic abilities was true.

Margaret bit into Jessica's neck and began to suck her blood.

Jessica did not fight it.

I stared at Margaret as she sucked Jessie's blood.

"Please, she such a nice girl, don't drain her."

She was moaning and groaning.

"Oh god," said Jessica, "That feels so good."

Margaret lifted her face up and smiled.

"You taste so good," she said.

Jessica fainted.

Fortunately I was able to catch her.

"Margaret, that's enough. Stop, she can't take much more."

"Okay," she said, "take her back to our room. We need to watch her to see what happens. We may have a new vampire, or maybe not."

We walked back to the inn and carried Jessica up the stairs.

We simply told the innkeeper that Jessica was a friend of ours who had too much to drink.

"Let's wait and see what happens," said Margaret.

Jessica woke up a few hours later.

"What happened," she asked.

"You passed out," I said, "How do you feel?"

Jessica moaned.

"I feel so weak. Like I need blood. I'm so thirsty."

Suddenly Jessica's eyes turned red and her teeth grew long and sharp.

"Whoa," she said, "My mouth hurts. What the hell is going on?"

"Margaret," I said, "It worked! She's a vampire!"

"What?! A vampire?! What did you two do to me?!"

"We're sorry," said Margaret, "We were so lonesome. We wanted to have some friends who were like us. I'm a vampire too, and Felicia is a werewolf."

"A werewolf?" Said Jessica.

"Yes," said Felicia, "I was turned into a werewolf during a cult ceremony."

Jessica used what little strength she had to jump out of the bed we laid her down in.

"You monsters! Now I am unclean! I will never have a normal life. No more sunsets or sunrises."

"Jessica, please calm down. You will still be able to see the sunset. The sunlight doesn't harm me at all. Please relax, we won't harm you. I promise."

Jessica was scared and confused.

"Please," she said, "I'm not a killer. I can't be a vampire!"

Jessie began to cry.

I hugged her.

"It's okay," I said, "everything will be fine. You just need to feed and then you will feel better."

I looked up at Margaret.

"Can't she stay with us? She has nowhere else to go. And she will need our help learning how to feed without hurting anyone. Besides, I really like her. We can be the three Musketeers."

"Felicia," said Margaret, "of course she can stay with us. I never planned on abandoning her. And, yes, you are right. She will need our help. She is like a little child. She doesn't know anything about what has happened to her."

Jessica's crying was slowly down.

Margaret patted Jesse on the head.

"There, there," she said, "Everything is going to be alright. We will teach you everything that we know."

Jessica hugged me.

"Thank you," she said, "There's something I should tell you. I was forced into prostitution by a pimp, so my dear vampire and werewolf sisters, I didn't really have anything to live for. In a way, you saved me."

Margaret smiled.

"I am glad to hear that," she said, "Well we can take care of this pimp if you wish, but the only downside is that we have to leave the first chance we get. We can't run the risk of anyone finding out who we are. We are the first vampire and werewolf, and we don't want any hunters trying to kill us."

"I understand. He's back at the apartment complex where I live. Let's go. We need to find him. And then, we can leave town."

"Alright," I said, "come on, let's go."

We left the inn and headed towards Jessica's apartment.

We reached her apartment complex.

"Well this is gonna be a good time to get your stuff, because we're gonna have to leave first thing tomorrow morning." I said

"Alright, I got a suitcase under the bed. That should have all of my clothes. Just grab that. And, um, there is a jewelry box on the dresser. That is very important. That's my most precious possession."

We all went inside and started to pack.

I took the suitcase out from under the bed and began to pack.

Margaret found the jewelry box and put it in the suitcase.

"And where you do think your going bitch?!"

I heard a man yelling from the hallway.

The door was kicked open.

"Hey!" Yelled the pimp, "Where the hell are you going? Do I have to beat the shit out of you again?"

Margaret moved with incredible speed and grabbed the pimp's neck, squeezing it.

"Listen carefully," she said, "You are going to leave her alone. She doesn't work for you anymore. She is staying with us now!"

Margaret lifted the pimp up off the ground with one hand.

His eyes bulged.

He was gasping for breath.

"Margaret, put him down." Said Jesse, "He's not worth it."

Margaret dropped the pimp and turned to Jessica.

"Are you sure," she asked, "you haven't made your first kill yet and you must be starving. This guy would be a great start."

Jessie's eyes glowed red and her teeth grew long.

She leapt at the pimp.

"Ahhh!" He screamed.

I couldn't believe my eyes.

I thought Jessica was too afraid to kill, but now she was feeding off the pimp.

His screams became gurgles.

She stopped and turned to me.

"Sorry, but I was starving."

"No," I said, "I'm glad you did it.

"Come on, let's get out of her." Said Margaret as she pulled Jessica and myself into a close hug, " I think this is a good chance for me to try my Shapeshifting abilities."

Margaret turned all three of us into a puff of smoke and we floated through the open window just as the neighbors were screaming for the police.

Then, Margaret turned back into herself, but was carrying us.

"Margaret," I said, " I didn't know you could do that. That was amazing. can you change into a bat too?"

"Yes," she said, "I have been practicing changing my form over the years. Come on, let's hurry up and get out of here."

We ran back to the inn.

The police showed up, and they searched the apartment.

They didn't find anything.

We waited for the sun to come up and then we went back to the inn.

We all climbed into the coffin and fell asleep.

It was a tight squeeze, but we all fit in there.

"Well ladies, it looks like I might have to build a bigger coffin. Unless Jessica wants to have her own." Said Margaret.

"Oh no." Said Jessica, "I feel a lot more comfortable sleeping with you two. You are like my new mothers. Please, don't leave me. I can't stand the thought of being alone."

"Of course," I said, "We wouldn't dream of it."

"Thank you," she said, "there's one thing that's bothering me, you too said that you were sisters, but you don't look anything alike."

I giggled.

"Well Jesse, we're not really sisters. Ever since we became monsters, we've only had each other for comfort. We only tell people that were sisters, so we can sleep in the same bed together without suspicion."

"I mean you two are lovers? You are like my mothers!"

"Well," I said, "Sort of, it's complicated. But, in a way, yes, we are."

"Alright," she said, "I get it. So, what are we gonna do now? Are you going to find someone else to turn into a werewolf?"

"No," I said, "we decided to wait until we met the right person."

Jessica smiled.

"Well," she said, "you two are the best things that ever happened to me. I am glad that we are together."

"So are we," said Margaret, "Now, let's get some sleep. We have to move tomorrow night."

"But you said that the sunlight doesn't hurt you. Why do we have to move in the night? We could travel by day, couldn't we? I could still see the sunset."

"Yes," I said, "the sunlight doesn't hurt me. But, we move around during the nighttime because we're not seen as much. Also, we can't run the risk of someone finding out that we're vampires and werewolves. So, it's better to be safe than sorry."

Jessie laid her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes.

"Goodnight," she said, "See you tomorrow night."

"Goodnight," I said.

We are fell asleep in the comfort of each other's arms.
