"Why should I do you a favour? And you're probably going to kill me eventually, so I might as well try to escape. Nothing to lose and all…"
They stared each other down, the tension was palpable.
Jungkook looked away first, making the vampire feel intensely satisfied.
'I'd never lost a stare-down yet. To anyone.'
"I have no plans to kill you. I'll have the tests back soon so make this one thing easy, will ya? Test me, try to get away and I'll restrain you. You need to stay put while I figure this out. For your safety."
'What a prick! What happened to Mr Sweetheart, who just wanted to hold me?'
"Restrain me?"
"That's right."
"That's fvcked up. So much for Mister 'just let me hold you.'"
"Could be fun," V ran a finger down his arm, "We could do things the easy way or the hard way. You seem like you usually pick the hard way."
V added emphasis to the word hard, eyes twinkling.
"Back the fvck up," Jungkook growled.
V laughed, "Such a potty mouth! But you're adorable. And Mister 'just let me hold you' would happily hold you," he leaned forward, "I'm not usually a snuggler but with you, I've made an exception."
He held his palms up, "Don't," but his insides were turning to goo.
Jungkook looked back toward the window and got a faraway look in his eyes, he got hold of his senses and glared at him.
"It'll be easier soon, Jungkook."
"Huh? What's that supposed to mean?" he asked.
"Never mind," he let out a sigh.
"Fine... Is he okay?"
"Who?" the vampire spun back around to face him.
"Seo… jin? Jin?"
A surprised look spread across V's face, "I didn't end him if that's what you mean. How did you knock him out? Beyond me. Maybe the blood tests will help with that minor mystery, too. It was a first. He's lucky that he spoke fast when I got there. When I smelled fresh blood on you, I thought… well, he came close to being a dead vampire, let's just say that."
"Uh, aren't vampires already dead?"
He snickered, "No, being a vampire isn't like being a zombie, an undead thing. It's more like…" he paused, tapping his chin, "like being an enhanced human with increased strength, speed, plus some have other talents. Some vamps are stronger and some have unique talents. I have more speed, strength and control than the average vampire. I have a few talents, some new and emerging ones. The control thing is important. Here," tapping his temple, "I suspect that your blood in less controlled hands would have pretty dire consequences. If Jin had smelled your blood…"
"Jin got a whiff of my blood, I think that's how I knocked him out. I caught him off guard with my bleeding finger."
V's eyes widened and then he slammed his fist down on the nightstand and looked furious, Jungkook jumped, startled.
He took a few deep breaths and rubbed his temples, trying to reign in his insatiable thirst when he was angry.
Only his pleading, saying his name had brought him back from the verge of… 'of what? Draining him dry? Ripping his head off?'
"Are you hungry?" he asked, still trying to rein in his temper.
"No," he mumbled, not looking at him.
"Don't cut off your nose to spite your face, Jungkook."
"Pffft. Don't bother bringing me more food. Not unless you want to wear it."
"Fine, get some sleep," V shook his head and leaned over, kissed his forehead and pulled him down onto the pillows. He caressed his mouth quickly with his fingertips and then kissed his hand.
He stared, dumbstruck.
'A vampire prince or king or whatever has demanded I stay in his room. In his bed, where I scream his name during sex and be subjected to his affection. I'm to stay here while he figures out why my blood is so… so? Magic? Only me?'
"I'm not tired. Plus, I can't just stay here with you."
"You can. You will."
"Not if I can help it. Is this your bedroom?"
"Yes. And you can't help it? You have no choice."
"Just leave me alone. I'll go back to the other room while you wait for these test results. I'll call work and book a few days off. You stay here. Stop with the physical stuff. I don't want you touching me."
He looked at him seriously for a beat and then shook his head and laughed, "You're funny."
"Funny?"
"You'd hate that as much as I would."
"Bullshit. I want you to leave me alone. Stop touching me and I won't try to get away until you get your blood tests back. Then when the tests come back, we will figure things out and renegotiate whatever terms so that I can go. Get me my bag and phone. I'll ask for a few sick days from work. I'll…"
V laughed, "What makes you think I'm willing to negotiate anything? I'm already in control here; I don't need to barter with you. You're staying here. In my bed. With me," he wiggled his eyebrows.
He tried to ignore the stirring of those words and the edge in his voice as he said to them, "So you're just going to keep me... prisoner?"
He took a deep breath and looked down at his hand and kissed it again and then flicked the blanket up and over him.
"Think of yourself as my guest. You'll be safe here in my room while I figure everything out. Stay in here and I'll be able to ensure your safety."
"My safety? How can I be safe in your bed? The bed of a—a monster?" he glared the ugliest, dirtiest look he could muster.
But he didn't feel convinced as monsters didn't kiss your hand and tuck you in.
Monsters didn't want to hold you to convince themselves you were okay.
His gaze darkened, "Apparently it looks like I don't have to be a monster, though but don't push too hard or you will see it. It's always your choice. Easy or hard."
"You say you like hard. But then it turns you into that monster?"
He snickered, "Strange, huh? Better be on your best behaviour, then. I'm working on decoding this mystery. Stay put and let me focus my energy on figuring it out instead of chasing you, we'll understand it faster."
"I have a life, jobs, responsibilities… bills!"
Jungkook's last statement hung in the air as the vampire tucked him in without replying. They said nothing, it felt like he was serenading him with his eyes.
A second ago he was cold, threatening and now he was all Mr Romeo.
V kissed his lips softly, lingering for a moment, tasting like peaches and cream.
Jungkook didn't kiss him back, he just laid there frozen stiff, seething with anger and full of confusion over what was going on.
After a while, V left the room saying nothing else.
Jungkook closed his eyes and asked sleep to take him away from the confusion he felt.
When Jungkook woke up, he was alone in the vast bed… V's bed.
Jungkook remembered him climbing into the bed after he'd tucked him in, The vampire trailed kisses up and down his bare back, shoulders, and his cheek while stroking his hair for a long time, but he hadn't bitten him or pushed things further.
He'd just stayed still, confused by the feelings it was stirring in him, V eventually spooned against him and he fell back to sleep, feeling like something wrapped him in sweet-smelling warmth.
It was bright in the room, drapes all open wide, and he could hear birds singing.
He felt oddly well-rested
'How could he have slept so soundly in bed beside his captor, a blood-sucking vampire?'
It was weird that Jungkook felt well-rested after sleeping beside him and amid all this that he was sleeping so much.
He spotted V through the floor to ceiling sliding doors, he was on the balcony or whatever it was, pacing and talking on his phone with a coffee mug in his hand. The vampire was shirtless and wearing a pair of faded jeans, looking like a half-naked GQ model, but he looked pissed off with whoever was on the phone.
Jungkook strained to listen but couldn't hear anything, with a sigh he looked around and more closely surveyed this room. The bedroom had a giant bed furnished with four iron posters, headboard and footboard comprised the same style of ornate scrolls that looked like they belonged on a medieval European castle.
Directly ahead against a wall was a long, espresso-stained wood dresser with a mirror. On top was a silver tray with a decanter of alcohol, there was also another silver tray with a wallet, keys, and some loose change, and there's a large silver crucifix lay beside the tray.
'Another strike against vampire folklore? Surely it wouldn't be here if it could wield any power against him.'
This master suite also had a big sitting area with a fireplace and this room had a big overstuffed plush-looking deep red velvet sofa. Above, the big curved television that sat on the mantle was a wreath that was made of dried garlic bulbs.
Jungkook lifted his brows at that one.
Besides the dark wood desk with a lamp and a laptop on it was a stack of several cardboard boxes and a large bookcase filled with hardcover books.
Jungkook chewed his bottom lip and thought about the computer.
'Could he get an email to Hobi, maybe? But what would he say? Call the police! Should he change his social media status to - Somebody save me!!!! A tall, dark, dangerous and sexy vampire prince with glowing icy blue eyes has me in his lair. He won't stop having mind-blowing sex with me and drinking my blood with my cum and kisses me all over! Was there a paranormal squad for that?'
As if.
They painted this room a deep red and had beautiful architectural touches.
Blood red; how fitting.
Jungkook needed to use the bathroom, he got up out of bed, holding a sheet over his nakedness. The scrapped t-shirt he'd worn last night was on the floor across the room. There was a red silky knee-length robe at the end of the bed. He quickly wrapped it around himself, finding it odd.
He had one just like it at home.
Exactly like it.
V glanced over his shoulder at him but kept talking on the phone, Jungkook had to walk toward the bedroom door to get to the bathroom and they made eye contact, his eyes narrowed as he passed the bedroom door.
Suddenly there was a thud.
'Was that the door lock? Was someone coming in or just locking it?'
He grimaced at the door and then glanced back at V, whose expression softened, probably because it was obvious he was heading to the bathroom.
This bathroom was much the same as the other room, only grander, which he wouldn't have thought possible.
Jungkook ran his tongue across his teeth, they felt fuzzy and gross, on the vanity were his things, combs, shaving gear, toiletries, he picked up a toothbrush and poured mouthwash over it to disinfect it and then loaded it up with the usual amount of toothpaste then brushed his teeth with it, resulting in an extraordinary amount of lather.
'That's better.'
He rinsed his mouth about a dozen times with water as hot as he could stand it and then mouthwash. Like that would make a difference.
A vampire's toothbrush… Bizarre.
Jungkook ran his tongue over his teeth, inspecting them in the mirror, imagining himself with long vampire fangs.
V already had his mouth all over him, remembering it made Jungkook flushed bright scarlet, envisioning the vampire's mouth between his legs.
He scrubbed the thought away with soap on his face then tried to run a brush through his hair but it was longer than he remembered, almost to his navel, shocking him for a moment.
Jungkook's hair was long, it touched his nape long not like this where it's fairly knotted. He sighed then twisted the length into a makeshift bun, tucking the end through it to keep it in place, wishing he'd had a rubber band.
He got up on his toes to get closer to the mirror to look at the sore spot on his neck. It was significantly better. He wished he had a turtleneck sweater so the vampire wouldn't be tempted by seeing his bare throat.
Then again, the vampire also bit between the legs and on his hip so evidently, a throat wasn't necessary.
Jungkook pushed away from the memory of V's fangs and mouth.
After doing his bathroom business, Jungkook walked out into the bedroom then saw V motion for him to come out onto the balcony. It overlooked the enormous courtyard and extended the length of that side of the house and then wrapped around to the opposite side where other doors led onto it from various points on the second level.
Movement caught his eye, looking down at a kidney-shaped pool, and saw a dark-haired man dressed in black jeans and a black t-shirt with sunglasses on. He had tattooed arms and an impressive body, he looked familiar.
He thought back to his shift at the bar the other night and remembered one server whispering, "Look at 'him' over there!" The man had been at the bar, stirring his drink quietly and smiling devilishly at the staff.
Now he was skimming the pool while smoking a cigarette, then glanced up in Jungkook's direction but didn't smile. He put the skimmer down, stubbed the cigarette out in an ashtray on the table, opened a sliding door on the main level and went inside.
He realized then that Jin had been beside the man in question in the bar and that they'd been whispering. When he'd served them drinks, one of them, he thought it must've been the dark-haired one, had tried flirting with him but it didn't work.
Jungkook's been busy, he'd just laughed it off the cheesy pickup lines the man said to him. He'd heard many pickup lines in his time at that bar, so he waved them all off as cheesy.
'So that was the other guy who'd helped to kidnap him.'
Lovely.
"Good morning, delicious little firecracker," V said.
The vampire motioned for him to sit beside him at an iron bistro-style table for two, a tray sat with a carafe, mugs, cream and sugar dish while his mobile phone sat beside his mug.
Jungkook eyed it, then averted after.
"Coffee?" V asked while undressing him with his eyes.
It wouldn't take much, given that all Jungkook was wearing was that red silk.
Jungkook nodded, he didn't know how he even got through yesterday without coffee.
V poured a splash of milk and 2 heaping scoops filled with coarse raw sugar into it, that's exactly how Jungkook took his coffee but he hadn't told him that.
'Was he a mind reader or something?'
Most people put too much milk in their coffee for their liking. He'd gotten it perfect.
Jungkook frowned.
"There are some boxes beside the desk, they're your belongings," the vampire said, as he stirred the coffee.
V looked at his eyes, pushed the cup and sucked on the spoon.
His mouth.
It was distracting.
'How can my mind go there at a time like this? That sexy mouth filled with murderous teeth! He was smirking. Why was he smirking? Wait, what?'
Shaking his head gently then he stared back, "Did you just say my belongings are here? Here?"
"I've spoken to managers at the restaurant and the bar. And your roommate. No one's worrying."
"What? You what?"
Jungkook was flabbergasted, the stack of boxes... was this the total sum of his... life?
'Did he speak to Hobi? What the-?'
"I had Namjoon pick up your things this morning. When I went out yesterday before you tried to run," he looked at him disapprovingly, "I had gone to speak to the people whose concerned about you. They know you're safe. I had your roommate pack for you."
"Safe?" Jungkook laughed cynically, "Am I?"
V blinked at him.
"What did you say to people?"
"Does it matter?" the vampire muttered into his cup and took a sip of his coffee.
"They didn't find it strange that I've been missing for over 24 hours and that I haven't called?"
Jungkook waited, but he didn't answer.
V just looked at him coolly.
"I've never missed a day of work without notice until now. Someone they've never met is speaking for me and… and what? Are my belongings being picked up by some stranger? I don't understand how anyone could be okay with that."
"I can be very convincing. Maybe not to you, but other people… I can be convincing."
It sank in, "Ah. You hypnotized them."
V sipped his coffee and shrugged, looking pleased with himself while Jungkook shook his head in astonishment. He folded his arms across his chest, his anger rose, he seriously wanted to throw something.
"Did you drink their blood, too? Did you fuck my roommate into submission?"
"Would it bother you if I did? Would you be jealous?" V raised a brow at him.
Jungkook's face reddened, "You are such a dick."
V rolled his eyes but had a smirk on his face, "Don't be ridiculous, he's not my type. You're my type." After a beat of silence, he moistened his lips and continued, "But certain measures need to be taken. I can't say for sure that Joon didn't have a taste," he snickered. "You need to know all this so that you aren't fretting about what's happening out there."
"Fretting? My life is out there!" Jungkook spat.
"From everything I've surmised, it wasn't all that much of a life."
Well, that felt like a blow to the gut.
The vampire was right, though.
'What was out there? Two crappy jobs, a few acquaintances he kept at arms' length, and a past he wanted to forget. What else? No family. No significant other. Not even a pet to miss him or notice his abduction.'
Jungkook never lost hope, but despite all of it, he hadn't given up on life.
He always believed in possibilities.
He had been saving up to go back to school and in a few months, he'd have enough money to quit one of his two jobs and go to college.
He had some friends that he was getting close-ish.
'Screw him... it was his life!'
"Fvck you! What do you know about my life?"
V looked at him with pity.
Jungkook hated that expression, "My life might not be 'all that' but it is mine! And whatever… I'll do it on my own. I owe nothing to nobody. No help, no support, nothing will get me ahead of me and again, I'll do it on my own."
"I know more than you'd expect. Your friends were forthcoming, I did a bit of research. I know you're an orphan, raised in foster care, that you moved here a few years ago. Your roommate, Hobi, who was happy to share plenty of useless information, didn't know all that much about you, yet, he said he was probably your closest friend. Strange. Your regular customers at the bar were also eager to talk about how much everyone loves your spunk but can't figure out why you're so guarded. I know you work constantly, you don't sleep enough and that you don't date. A lot of men express interest, but you typically ignore them or knock them down a few pegs when they dare to be nice to you. You don't let anyone get close to you, do you? And fvck me? Watch what you say to me, Jungkook, if you haven't figured it out yet, I take things literally."
Jungkook clenched his forearms and blew out a long breath, closing his eyes tight and shook his head slowly, pain etched on his face.
V sipped his coffee and then continued, "No men in your life, Jungkook? Did you leave your hometown with a broken heart? Or did you break someone else's heart?"
"Ah! Bingo. Again, no one's worried, Jungkook. Just relax and enjoy my company for a little while... like how I'm enjoying yours. I've done this so you can let all that stress you're feeling go."
"Like you know and care how I feel."
"It might surprise you, I do. I know I'm surprised," he breathed.
Jungkook folded his arms even tighter across his chest.
Screw him and his pity.
Jungkook didn't want it.
He then tried to refocus the topic, "Why would you bring my things here? Just how long are you planning to keep me?"
V shrugged, "We'll have to see what happens."
"What about when I go back to my life? I won't have a paycheque, a place to live? I have bills to pay. Like… bills that are due in a few days! I have responsibilities. They'll fire me. Hobi will find a new roommate-"
"Don't worry about any of it. You don't have to worry about anything. Not a thing."
"What does that mean? The only way I have nothing to worry about is if I'm dead. You are going to kill me, aren't you?"
"No! All you need to know is that I'm taking care of you for the foreseeable future. That's all."
"What the fvck do you mean by 'in the foreseeable future'?" Jungkook glared at him with the ugliest, nastiest, meanest look he could muster.
"Just what it sounds like."
Jungkook had no words.
The vampire smiled at him warmly, "Don't go exploring on me, firecracker. Let's just take it a day at a time. Don't stress... I've taken care of everything. When we get all this figured out, you'll be okay. I'll make sure of it."
"You're thinking more than a few days ahead and why should I trust a vampire who can't handle the word 'No' and eats virgins for breakfast?"
V leaned forward, planting his chin on his palm and stared, smiling.
Jungkook glared harder, the vampire chuckled, he wanted to throw something at him.
"Have some coffee, Jungkook. Lack of caffeine is making you grumpy."
"You're making me grumpy! Just who do you think you are, anyway? What kind of psychotic, egotistical megalomaniac just scoops someone out of their life and keeps them for his amusement?"
V didn't answer.
"I don't want to be here. I want you to let me go. Seriously!"
"I know you're serious."
"But you don't care?"
"I care… Surprisingly."
"I don't understand."
"Drink your coffee, Jungkook."
Jungkook let out a little growl and took a sip of his coffee, he didn't expect it to taste so good. He quickly took a second sip and then took a deep breath and closed his eyes in coffee ecstasy.
'This was some seriously good coffee, he knew his coffee.'
He quirked up his brows.
'Wait, a second… This was the good stuff. It had to be the house blend from The Bohemian Cafe.'
It tasted like the coffee from the shop down the street from the diner he'd worked at. The diner had lousy coffee so every morning he'd sneak in a cup from the café down the street and pour it into the diner's branded travel mug, the owner, Yugyeom, knew all about it but let him go away with it.
It was a little joke among a few of the morning regulars who had seen him in the other café before his shift, "Coffee's terrible today, Jungkook," one patron would say almost every day.
"Coffee's lousy, Yugyeom," he'd shout back over the counter at him.
"Ack!" He'd always say, waving his hand at him.
"I don't know why yours is? Mine's fine," Jungkook would wink at the regular and they'd share a knowing smirk.
"Where did you get this coffee?" Jungkook asked V, eyeing him suspiciously.
V was studying him quietly, still smiling, he didn't answer.
Jungkook avoided his piercing gaze and looked down into the courtyard. They landscaped beautifully around the perimeter. Climbing vines with colourful flowers scaled the wall opposite him and there were baskets along the railing of the balcony filled with various ivy plants and flowers.
He inhaled and his nostrils filled with scent in layers - fresh coffee, the floral aroma, plus V's smell… his breath caught for a moment and his train of thought halted.
'How could he even notice the surrounding beauty when everything was so messed up? Maybe avoidance was helping him cope. The coffee orgasm was screwing with his common sense, perhaps?'
He guessed no one would look for him, he didn't have anyone who cared enough to look for him and even if there had been someone the vampire would hypnotize them anyway.
'So what did it matter? All V had to do was explain his absence to his bosses and his roommate.'
"I guess I'm an excellent target, eh? I disappear and hardly anyone notices? You just hypnotize any doubts away?"
V snickered and sipped his coffee, "Good target? You're a pain in the ass."
Jungkook shifted and tightened the sash on the robe, "Yeah... well, let me leave and that pain in your ass will stop immediately."
He could feel the vampire's eyes burning into his side and felt uncomfortable under the gaze, but then he turned to meet his eyes, challengingly, "You're taking this birthday gift thing a little too seriously, don't you think?"
V burst into laughter, "Levity. Nice."
The mobile phone on the table let out a text alert, V picked up the phone and looked at the screen, got up and swiped it and narrowed his eyes at it.
He wondered where his phone was.
V's was the latest iPhone model and Jungkook was one of the former models, one he'd taken after Hobi had broken it in frustration at a boyfriend, then Jungkook had paid to fix it.
"I'll bring you some breakfast in a few minutes," the vampire said as he walked back into the bedroom, leaving him alone.
There was a lump in Jungkook's throat, he didn't know whether to cry or scream.
Anger or exasperation, probably both, rose.
He didn't know what to do, it was like he was on the verge of imploding, finding himself in a place he never wanted to be.
Paranormal stuff aside, once again, he had no control.
The situation he found himself in reminded him of his childhood, being shuffled around, place to place, with a few belongings in black trash bags or boxes and... no control over his circumstances.
Someone or something else ruling over his hopes, dreams, plans of planting roots, getting a degree, buying a home, getting a pet - a dog or a cat or even a damn goldfish.
Everything Jungkook had been working toward and dreaming of was rapidly evaporating.
'What now? What next? Was he going to be kept as a sex and blood slave in V's bedroom until he got the test results back? And what would his blood tests even reveal? Would they give him the ability to mesmerise him so that he lost himself? Would the results make any difference to his future, his fate? And when he lost his taste for him, what then? Would he kill him? Or even if he didn't intend to kill him, would he kill him out of his rage if he didn't do what he told him to do?'
Jungkook got to his feet, he had to find a way out of here. He didn't want to wait around to find out what bizarre things would happen next, he leaned against the railing and stared off into space.
He needed to take the time to assess things before making his move.
The vampire threatened to restrain him and that wouldn't help him escape, he knew there were at least two other men in here. The dark-haired guy he saw this morning, he must be the 'Joon' then there was Jin.
'Despite how sweet and protective V sounded, he had seen another side of him, too. Psycho!'
Jungkook felt the nerves prickle on the back of his neck, that feeling you get when you're being watched, he swallowed hard when he saw coldly focused their dark eyes on him.
He cast his eyes down toward the swimming pool and saw Jin standing there staring up at him with arms folded across his chest, lifting his sunglasses and pushed his blonde bangs back and let them rest on his head.
He gripped the railing tight, feeling very uncomfortable with the intensity of his stare.
'No, more of a glare.'
Jin didn't look the same as yesterday when he'd come in with the walkie talkie, he didn't look like the fresh-faced boy next door, he looked pissed and dangerous. He flashed his fangs at him, his heart skipped a beat.
He was probably furious about the vase incident and by the sounds of it, V attacked or almost killed him. He looked like he wanted to inflict pain on him.
V burst out onto the terrace, "What's wrong?"
Jungkook's eyes darted back to him, confused, then his gaze moved back to Jin. V's eyes followed, he moved swiftly behind him, leaning directly against his back and circled his waist with his arms possessively.
He craned his neck to look up at him, V was staring icy-eyed down at Jin, whose fangs had already receded.
The look on V's face was menacing.
V's fangs shot out, he lifted Jungkook's chin off to the other side and sank his teeth into his throat right beside yesterday's wound.
It paralyzed him with fear and his veins hummed, V drank a small amount and then kissed his throat and let go, then looked back down at Jin, baring blood-drenched teeth and looking even more fearsome than he'd seen so far.
V clutching him against his body possessively, Jungkook's body was rigid with tension, feeling sheer terror at the show of dominance. He could feel the vampire's erection poking his lower back, he inhaled at his hair and exhaled slowly.
Jin's head dropped to his chest, clearly a sign of submission.
The scene seemed so… primitive.
V squeezed his shoulder, flicked his tongue across the puncture wound, kissed it, released him, grabbed the railing with one hand and swiftly jumped over the balcony as if it was nothing. The vampire landed softly on his feet and sauntered to Jin. Jungkook was flabbergasted at the move and was white-knuckled, gripping the railing to keep himself upright because his knees were buckling.
V pushed Jin up against the stone wall, throat in his grip. He spoke slowly to him but Jungkook couldn't make out what he was saying but he looked so dominant, so much bigger and stronger than the other and Jin wasn't a small or meek-looking guy.
At all!
After a moment he let go and Jin shuffled into the house with his head down, looking almost like a scolded child or a dog with his tail between the legs. V strolled nonchalantly where he was and jumped up and grabbed the bottom of the terrace railing, hoisted himself and back over the railing, almost effortlessly, like an Olympic gymnast.
Jungkook's frozen in place, in shock, his entire body was trembling.
V's fangs were still out but when he reached him, he took him by the shoulders, turning to face him, his fangs retracted slowly. He reached up for the knot of hair on top of Jungkook's head and undid it so his curls cascaded down around his shoulders, then he tangled his fingers with the length and pulled him close as if to kiss him.
He stared directly into his eyes, "He needed to know that you're mine."
The anger smoothed out and his gaze softened, touching Jungkook's throat. The vampire was caressing the marks with a look on his face that he couldn't quite read.
'Was it pride, smugness?'
He leaned away from him, blinked at him several times in quick succession, confused, "I'm not."
"Would you rather be his?" V spat, annoyed.
Jungkook winced, wanting to curl up into himself and disappear. He closed his eyes and let out a series of staggered breaths, not wanting to get caught in those intense blue eyes again.
"Look at me," V demanded as he leaned forward to kiss each eyelid softly and took his face by the chin, one hand still in his hair.
"Please look at me," he said, his voice softer, "Will you ever pick the easy way, firecracker?"
Jungkook stayed still, opening his eyes, a breath caught at the expression on V's face, at the timbre of his voice, he shook his head, "Probably not."
V inhaled again and rolled his eyes, "Stay with me, no stupid stunts. Just… let me figure things out and then we'll take it from there. Okay? He needed to see me mark you as mine. Now he won't dare bare his teeth in front of you. I'll protect you," he then kissed him quickly on the mouth, "Okay?"
"Mark me as yours? But I'm not yours, V," Jungkook whispered, "and who's going to protect me from you?"
Fingers weaved into Jungkook's hair, the other held his jaw as he kissed him softly again. He didn't respond with his lips but opened his eyes and let out a sigh when he saw how his eyes were smouldering like they were pleading with him.
V let go of him, lifted a hand over his heart and gave a pout as he'd wounded him. He folded his arms, trying to ignore the goosebumps all over his skin.
He had recently agreed with a conversation by a group of his work friends at the bar who talked about the fact that getting kissed by a guy who held your head or face in his hands was a fairytale, happily ever after type of kiss is probably the most romantic way to be kissed and V had just kissed him that way.
Almost everything about him screamed sex and romance, but to Jungkook it also screamed danger.
He could see how easy it would be to let himself be swept away by this dashing and powerful vampire in this beautiful mansion.
But this was all so… so wrong.
And he wasn't always gentle.
Then, of course, there was the whole controlling psychotic freak that had just claimed him as his.
It was too much for Jungkook to comprehend.
Jungkook wanted off this merry-go-round.
