Chapter 43 - School

The nobility were preemed to open their mouths again, while sela finally finished her healing and spoke, "Prince Vaenel! That should be enough! I want to go back to my training immediately not spend time arguing and fighting."

The Prince was squatting on the ground looking at ants passing. When his name was mentioned, his head jolted up and he turned around, "Yeah, Leave them alone." Vaenel did a feigned cough then stood up.

"But-" A noble attempted to speak up but was met with a gentle smile from the prince.

The Prince continued "The fight was equal and the hero's brutality was not uncalled for, as we can remember just before the final blow was dealt to Tedd. The Hero had received a harsh blow to himself before, yet he still carried on."

He nodded toward the hero and continued, "Tedd was the same, he received a strike and had not conceded. The Hero struck again, disarming Tedd… However, tedd did not call to concede and, another strike he still did not call to concede. Meaning the only way to end the duel was to knock Tedd out."

Seraph looked at the prince in surprise, he could really twist events into such a manner. Then made it believable enough to the point that the nobles started to nod their head in agreement, then looked at their friend and shook their head.

"It really was his own fault, he didn't call concede after that many strikes…" A noble spoke softly.

While other nobles, who were not easily fooled by such sweet words simply clenched their fists and turned away. Vaenel smiled as he did not lie, Tedd did not call to concede after those strikes… However, tedd could not call to concede after those strikes because of the amount of pain and the loss of his breath.

Vaenel pulled away the nobles after his few words and left the training ground just as a sharp faced man entered. He looked at the back of the nobles, then looked toward his boss and also student…

"Princess, I've come…" Instructor Icas began but was rudely interrupted.

"Icas, Begin your lesson." Sela's voice was cold. Instructor Icas took a very long time to arrive, a long enough time for a fight to rise and fall.

Then seraph spoke softly, "That won't be needed, I believe I've found something more valuable to train. I want to train it for the time I'm here." Seraph only trained [Church's Wall] to 1% and even that beginning level was enough to aid him in that fight.

Although his defenses were eventually broken, it was expected and it was a risk he was going to take anyway.

Sela looked at him oddly, "Seraph, this technique could be considered top tier, it's at least B rank in our empire."

"Really?" Seraph thought about his own skill, his own skill was about a rank D so he expected that this B rank should be supremely powerful to his D rank skill, "Then I'll learn it."

As the lesson began, his initial excitement went down… then continued to go down. He wasn't brave enough to tell everyone there that the skill they were displaying was complete garbage compared to the skill he was training…

He saw that the skill was flashy, very flashy… It was full of flourishes and fakes but it wasn't practical, at least not in the way that John described. If he was to also compare [Church's Walls] to this skill he would say that church's walls was leagues above it.

'What is the deal here?' Seraph couldn't believe that what he was witnessing was a D rank skilled. Then he thought back to the book, the king of the past who used this skill church's wall was an unstoppable force. The skill he used was considered to be the pinnacle of the kingdom; it was only unfortunate that the kingdom was unable to retain it after his death.

However, the book's author calls the skill trash. Seraph simply nodded to himself as he slowly understood, 'The level of skills ranked by the kingdom and the actual level of the skills are different…' Seraph thought himself correct, the pinnacle of all skills he had was in his hands right now and this skill was considered a D rank by his system meaning none of the other skills should be higher than D.

Seraph shivered at the thought on what a S ranked skill was. If just practicing a small bit of [Church's Wall] was able to face a noble then he could only imagine what it would be like when it was finished.

"Seraph, how about you try it now?" Sela's voice interrupted seraphs thinking, making him jolt as he turned to face her. Sela could only shake her head, "You need to learn this skill, it's necessary to make you strong."

Seraph thought quickly on his feet, "I've already learned a skill, although it's not as powerful as this one. I feel more connected to it, like a second skin of sorts and I'm reluctant to stop using it…"

Sela paused momentarily before looking at Alena, who could only shake her head while saying, "If it's like that, we can't force him to use it…"

Alena looked at Seraph for any slight approval but she was met with a stone wall. She was very disheartened, she couldn't believe that Seraph could be this stubborn on all matters… The guilt inside of her only welled up as the day continued.

Seraph got his way. He was allowed to continue training with his skill, now he held a sword in hand… He even asked Alena who gladly took the mantle to spar with him to improve his skill. Seraph fought her for a full thirty minutes with small breaks in between… His progress bar went up to [5% Church's Wall].

He had another thirty minutes left to train so he used that additional thirty minutes to continue training the skill before being forced to leave by Sela, which put the progress bar to [9% Church's Wall]

Seraph had a smug smile on his face as he left the training grounds, having a sword in hand really did train the skill better. He could feel his skill refine as he fought Alena, she was also a perfect anvil to train it on… Her attacks were athletic, light with a small mixture of heavy attacks and full of flips and kicks

Seraph found that the skill she practiced was extremely hard to practice as it utilized mana to accomplish most of the athletics… making her similar to a mana swordsman.

Seraph placed her position in a higher light in his mind, however, he still wasn't going to forgive her… He made sure to remind her that during practice, his gaze was cold and his attacks whenever he did employ them were rage fueled.

However, because his skill was mostly defensive with a mixture of mana inside of it, the attacks weren't serious enough to raise alarms…

Sela shook her head as she walked, she could see the animosity that Seraph held for Alena. She could also see how much it hurt Alena, which confused her slightly… this couldn't be the same Alena she saw yesterday… It was like watching someone cosplay.

Seraph didn't speak, however, after time passed and a change of clothes he saw that they neared the gate that separated the royal castle and the streets of their kingdom he spoke up, "Where are we going?"

"We're going to school of course." Sela turned to look at Seraph, giving him full attention.

"School? W-wait already?" Seraph's hatred of school was not unjust, he truly hated school after everything that school did to him. He felt like a royal school would be even worse, if he had to fight a group of Tedd's he didn't feel as confident…

"You're worrying too much," She could already gauge the reason why seraph was worried and spoke with a carrying and gentle voice, "My Brother's friend, tedd is a graduate of the school already… An alumni."

"Most people in the school would most likely be below his level, except for the top fifty… those are the people who you have to worry about. They're strong, stronger than you but they won't seek you out and they won't attack you for no reason. You're mine and they have to give me some face." She suddenly clung on to seraph, pressing her body up against his as they walked.

Seraph blushed which gave Sela some more pleasurable eye candy to look at, "You're just so cute!"

The trio eventually reached the gate, Sela got off of Seraph and cleared her throat giving her a more authoritative glare as she looked around. Seraph did the same, his outfit exuded high nobility… enough to make someone pause and do a double take when they approached him.
