Chapter 40 - Training

Seraph went through the stances. Sweat dripped off of his body as he completed stroke after stroke with his hands. He utilized his elbows, hands and legs to make up part of his defensive array. He pulled his body into the right places, defending from his stances then switching to another.

He utilized his mana like a shield according to the book and the system. His holy light turned from an offensive light to a defensive light that covered his body. He infused it within his movements to complete the defensive array set up by his body.

Although, [Church's Walls] was best utilized with a sword, that didn't mean seraph couldn't practice it until he got a sword. It could be utilized with and without a sword.

Seraph was only set on learning the stances and defenses with this martial art. [Church's Wall] without a sword limited seraph's ability to learn, however, he found that having some progress would do rather than having no progress at all.

After an hour of practicing. He found his progress bar increased by 1%. He stopped, doing some finger calculations, 'Wait… That means it's gonna take 100 hours… of training with my hands in order to max this out.'

Seraph felt that was fair… Learning even half of John's technique took more than a week to learn so learning it in four days would feel fair.

With this thought in mind, seraph continued practicing.

Sela tossed and turned in bed, the occasional grunt accompanied by heavy panting pounded against her ears. Her eyes shot open, her glorious dream of seraph performing a striptease interrupted, 'I was about to get to the good shit!' She was almost about to yell when she saw seraph training.

Her jaw dropped, 'This… this is good. This is better.' Her eyes drifted and looked at Seraph's body. He wasn't muscular but seraph to her was the most attractive person alive.

Seraph flinched noticing her gaze. He stopped training, her gaze was distracting. He scratched the back of his head, "Ummm, Sela… You're staring."

"Mhm…" Sela nodded her head unconsciously.

Then she recovered, "Oh! Yes!"

She cleared her throat "Let's get dressed, you have a big day ahead of you." She practically leapt off the bed and to the mirror, "Seraph, can you be a dear and call the maids over here for me?"

Seraph nodded, Opening the door he looked around the hallway letting out a little call "Ummm… Maids?"

He heard some rapid footsteps come down the corner, then he saw the maids. They stopped in front of the door, "They're here. What do you want them to do?"

"I need them to dress me!" She spoke loud enough for the maids to hear. They separated, one went to her room while the others helped her.

Sela spoke, "It's best for you to just put on a training uniform that the maids gave you yesterday."

After some time had passed, Sela exited the room accompanied by Seraph. Alena had also arrived midway again giving her an eye full of Seraph's naked body. Alena couldn't look seraph in the eye after that,… Seraph didn't bother looking in her direction either.

Sela could sense the animosity between the two, most of it came from seraph. Who made the atmosphere tense as they moved along. Sela eyed Alena who could barely hold her poker face anymore, replaced by a teenage girl she opened and closed her mouth a few times as if pondering what to say.

Alena finally gathered up some courage and let out a noise, "Um-"

However, she was cut off "Where are we going?" Seraph looked toward Sela.

"Oh.. We're going toward the training ground. Don't worry about the maids, the guards should come to me naturally after interrogation." Sela gave a sympathetic look at Alena, who had her mouth open still.

'He even has this kind of side to him too.' Sela could only shake her head at Alena's little predicament. 'She got herself into this situation.' Alena had a pleading look on her face but Sela could only give her a sympathetic shake of her head and shrug.

The trio eventually reached outside. This was seraph's first time outside of the castle, ever since he was brought here. Looking around he could see the elegance of the castle and the noble feel that the training grounds held. There were soldiers around, each of them were in the middle of training.

The Trio had to wait for some time, the soldiers were being led through formations and attacking and defending while in the formations. Their movements were uniformed and filled with order… Eventually, The man leading the formation. A man who looked somewhere in his thirties with a crooked shark grin on his face with a sharp nose and sharp eyes broke the formation, then the soldiers descended into sparring with one another.

"That man is called Instructor Icas, He's an instructor in the Warriors Academy and also the instructor that trains most of the royal armed guards stationed on the exterior of the castle." Sela leaned forward and whispered this into seraph's ears.

Seraph only nodded slightly, he put on his elegant facade. Which surprised Sela and Alena, he had simply straightened his back and changed his expression slightly however, he looked like a very elegant and upstanding noble.

If they didn't see his ears or knew about Seraph's background they might have thought that he was simply a noble wood elf with black hair.

Instructor Icas approached and bowed toward the princess, "Princess Sela, what brings you here today?"

Seraph heard a very authoritative, very strict voice come and to his surprise it was Sela "Accompany us to the Private Training Grounds. I need you to help train the Hero."

The Instructors eyebrow twitched, "Umm, But i'-"

"This won't take long, instructor an hour at the most. Just enough time for your guards to be finished with their fights." Sela pivoted then walked away, Seraph didn't hesitate and walked along with her. While eyeing the instructors face secretly.

The instructor's eyebrows furrowed and his fist were clenched but he nevertheless bowed as he spoke, "As you wish your highness."

After walking out of ear shot from the instructor, "Sela, why were you so… Commanding toward your teacher?"

"While he is in the palace he is an instructor of the exterior armed royal guards. The royal family's servant, I'm not hindering his duties at all… In fact, I waited for him to finish teaching the soldiers then took him during a part that didn't require his attention at all. Afterall, he can't watch hundreds of soldiers spar that goes to his junior instructors. " Sela answered emotionlessly. She added toward the end, "if he does argue, all of it can be overlooked."

"Then why was he so resistant to your commands?" Seraph eyed sela's expression,

"My position in the palace has declined. Significantly, if it was my brothers who asked him he would've followed them immediately while kissing their asses along the way." Sela's eyes narrowed as she spoke.

"I see. That'll change soon." Seraph spoke casually, his eyes looked around. They passed a garden of sorts with beautiful plants that went through all colors of the rainbow.

"What do you mean?" Sela peered behind her shoulder.

"It's my goal to make you the most respected and loved person alive, isn't it?" Seraph eyes were serious.

Sela's face turned red, "Y-Yeah. That's right."

Seraph looked at her strangely, 'That's my job description…'

While Sela and Seraph were having their little moment together, Alena was staring at seraphs back. She was thinking of ways to apologize to seraph, 'I really didn't mean to be that rude yesterday…Wait why do i care so much?'

Seraph instinctively knew that she was watching him. He didn't react, he only took note of the things she did while he made his way with sela toward the training ground. After a minute of walking he came to the conclusion that she really was remorseful, however, just being remorseful wouldn't cede his anger.

'She's gonna have to do something nice.' Seraph gave her the first glance ever since she arrived.

This didn't go unnoticed by Alena, who was about to open her mouth when she saw seraph quickly turn away 'What? Does he forgive me? No… he still despises me. I need to do something...is he expecting something? But I can-'

Alena's thoughts were interrupted, as she collided against seraph's back. Seraph purposely did this, he stopped abruptly as soon as they reached knowing that she wasn't paying attention at all after that glance.

She tumbled back, but Seraph grabbed her hand and pulled her straight. He only sent her a glance before looking toward sela.

Sela witnessed the entire action, 'She… She's really.' Sela had never witnessed Alena act like this. She looked toward Seraph like he was a mythical beast.

"So ummm what are we doing?" Seraph asked. HIs gaze focused on the building in front of them, it was as big as two houses side by side. It held the signature banners which seraph believed to be their families flag. A black owl on a white banner, little sharp black lines protruded from the owl.

It held a touch of elegance, while it was also very recognizable.

"The Instructor is going to come soon. A minute at best before he vents his anger and properly comes to me." Sela spoke, her gaze shifting to the direction they just came from. "So let's enter."
