The smell of blood permeated the forest, the workings of an open graveyard laid in the open for anyone to pass by. Wolves and any sort of beast except crows avoided the place like the plague for now, However seraph put one foot after the other moving pieces of a bush and stared at the dozens of wolf bodies in the area.
Each kill more brutal than the last, a swift slash or a swift thrust that left only a minute amount of blood slowly resulted in the brutal show of gore and brutality of severed wolves jaw and their innards and muscle hanging open left to be dried by the air.
Seraph walked slowly, 'I'm pretty sure... This is where John was when I left.' His eyes searched the area until his eyes caught a disgusting sight with rage and fear filling his eyes almost instantaneously.
A dead wolf carried half of a leg within its jaws, however, that didn't last long as the wolf's chest was slashed all the way to its pancreas. A brutal way to go… Seraph was sure that the wolf deserved it though, his eyes looked up from the leg and latched on to a tree where a bloody corpse leaned on the tree. Its eyes closed.
Seraph walked slowly, his eyes studying the corpse 'That can't be john…' His eyes trailed up from the missing leg, to the arm of the corpse that hung off by pieces of flesh and meat. Its chest was revealed bare to the world however he couldn't distinguish what was an injury or what was just blood from the wolves it had killed as their bodies were laced around him like little dolls.
Seraph's walk soon turned into a slight jog, "John?" his fears slowly crawled up his arms and legs.
Seraph could see the mattered beard of John, slowly cascade down his face, his head hung low.
"John?!" He turned his jog into a sprint, reaching closer he threw himself onto his knees sliding toward John's body.
Seraph paused, his hands hovered in the air as he didn't know what to do. His eyes seemingly peeled at John's broken figure as tears welled in his eyes.
"John!? John, please!" Seraph was about to deny the fact that the person here was John, he couldn't imagine John losing. He didn't want this person here to be John either.
Seraph heard a faint whisper as he drew closer, the corpses lips moved slightly almost unnoticeable, however, seraph was adamantly watching the corpse for any signs of life although few.
He leaned down quickly and put his ear to John's head.
"Kid. " John's voice was hoarse and raw, he screamed and shouted at the wolves the entire time without stopping until his voice gave out. Sometimes it was out of fear and pain, the others were just pure rage. Seraph could see John's dull eye looking at his lost leg and his hanging arm with an emotionless gaze.
"I saw him." John's hoarse voice crawled into seraph's ear.
"Saw who?" Seraph's voice was gentle compared to john's , but it quivered, sounding like it could fade at a moment's notice and descend into cries.
"I saw god." John's voice quivered slightly.
Seraph paused, then John responded once more "I saw him, kid. God was here." John's voice sounded so happy, his emotionless face slowly displayed a smile. Seraph's eyes trailed down to John's leg and then the dead wolf next to him, its eyes to its throat were stabbed and gouged out.
"A-A Amazing…" Seraph's voice quavered as tears began crawling down his cheeks.
"You don't sound happy…" His voice trailed on, his eyes grew duller and duller like he couldn't see anymore.
"I'm alr-" Seraph tried to convey his message but his voice cracked.
"It's alright, kid." John closed his eyes slowly "It's alright…"
Seraph paused, he just stared at John's body. Until grief with a slight bit of insanity crawled into his brain and finally made him act "J-John… I'll take you to camp… Astrid could fix you up." His eyes looked at his lost leg, the blood had stopped pouring out of his leg a long time ago.
"She can heal all of this up… even your leg and arm.. Right?" His eye focused on the lost arm, he grabbed John's shoulder preparing to lift him up when a notification pulled up.
[1 Soul Gained]
"No... NOOO!" He went into a frenzy, he threw himself to the ground and began sobbing.
"Take it away! I don't want it! GIve it back to him! SYSTEM!" He wailed, his voice reverberating around the empty woods.
[ Cannot grant hosts request ]
"No! Please! Make him come back… he'll only need his soul back! Just give it back to him and let him come back!" Seraph attempted to plead with the system.
[ Cannot grant hosts request ]
Seraph wails continued to echo throughout the forest, it lasted for a minute which then continued on for half an hour. He considered John as his best friend, his brother even. Ever since high school. Whenever, his parents were away which was almost every single day he was there taking care of him.
Seraph's wails died down slightly, he raised his head and looked at John's body. Then at the wolves all around him, his eyes then trailed back to john. He searched John's body for a sign of life once more but then it entered his vision. A piece of wood peeking out from the upper chest.
His eyes widened and his eyes grew darker, as his teeth clenched tightly together. 'Alex.'
Seraph's mind was slowly starting to clear up, beginning to focus itself on a single mission, He whispered "John, I'll take care of him for you…"
Then he heard a loud thud to his side, slowly turning his head he could see a lone wolf walking toward him. However, he doubted that the wolf was truly alone.
[ Extreme Emotions Cleared ]
Seraph's emotions of grief and despair slowly began to disappear, however the feeling that each emotion imprinted on him made him cold and his mind began to sharpen and clear furthermore. When looking at the wolf, he felt rage surge through his bones and muscles however his mind was clear. His mind worked at full capacity and his body was able to put his cruel plan into play…
"You were one of the things that killed John too." He slowly got up from the ground.
His eyes focused on the wolf, then slowly drifted to the spear, john's spear, a few meters away from the wolf. His gaze sharpened and he ran at the wolf. A light slowly gathering in his palm.
The wolf growled and stood its ground and a wolf pounced from the shadows, as soon as seraph ran into its line of sight. Seraph saw this and he pulled away not before the wolf was able to slap its paw against his body and throw him away onto the ground.
Seraph tumbled and rolled like a leaf in the wind, the wolves looked at this and smiled.
The dark wolves were very human like, once they realized that seraph was this weak… they all came out of the shadow to mock him. There were three wolves in total and they all began to approach seraph from the front.
The wolf that had originally pounced on seraph smirked and pounced on seraph's lying body, not noticing the spear that seraph now tightly gripped in his hands. The wolf raised its body in the air, then seraph bounced from the ground and pierced the wolf's opened mouth with precision lifting the wolf on the spear ,he then crudely stepped forward and slammed his spear head down throwing the wolf's body on to the ground.
The force of the impact allowed the spear to pierce through the wolves head completely.
The third wolf grew enraged and pounced at seraph while his spear was still stuck into their friend, However the original wolf that had spied seraph narrowed his eyes then fear flashed in them as it barked at its friend to stop. However, it was too late as seraph raised his hand slightly and a spear of light pierced the air and his friend exploded into dust.
The wolf that had witnessed it all took steps back before it began running, 'What kind of human was that?'
The wolves had scouted the humans, they knew of their strengths and weaknesses. All the humans specialize in something but turning wolves into dust was not a specialty they had seen before.
As the wolf ran, it heard something whizzing through the air. It jumped, just in time as a white spear landed on its previous position however the next he felt something hard slam into his leg. The spear contained enough force to pierce the tip of the spear into the leg but that was it, the wolf bit his tongue as it moved into the bushes attempting to hide from its hunter.
A few minutes passed by, its eyes and senses scouring the ground. However, once he felt that the human was gone he stood up.
The woods were quiet, nothing was stirring around. The dense trees and foliage were beautiful however they were also perfect for providing cover however, nothing could escape his snout. The wolf sniffed in the air one final time. For nothing to happen, it turned its head from the bloody scene and reached around to pull out the spear blocking his healing.
Only to feel a harsh punch send it crawling on the ground, it whipped its head around to see the human it had been desperately escaping from covered in blood with a knife raised above his head.
Seraph stood there like a butcher, his knife was long 8 inches which didn't include the handle of the knife. Seraph's face was cruel and his eyes were filled with disgust.
"You aren't going anywhere…" The knife pierced the wolves jaw and then cut down into its hide.
The fact that seraph didn't have enough strength to easily pierce the wolf's skin made the wolf roar out in pain at the sudden feeling of the torture, it attempted to raise its paw to claw at seraph but then the knife went straight down cutting through his chest and then into his gut. Its actions pausing as the sudden pain made it unable to move.
The wolf couldn't recognize how seraph passed its senses… it was attempting to recognize it as his strength slowly sapped from its body.
The wolf went limp, causing seraph to pull away from the wolf pulling out his spear and knife.
This was seraph's plan in the beginning, he wanted to kill all of the wolves. Luring them out with his weakness and then shocking them with a kill, playing stuck he allowed a wolf to come to him so he could turn it into dust.
However, he didn't expect this wolf to run the way it did… So he gathered himself in blood and followed the wolf from the direction of the camp where there was plenty of blood there. Which allowed him to close in on the wolf even with it on high alert. The only thing he needed to wait for was for the wolf to stop looking in his direction.
