Fwoosh.
A dark shadow emerged from the bushes, their black nose emerged first followed by their large body which around their neck held a long group of fur which resembled a mane usually found on lions and pitch black eyes impossible to be seen in the darkness of the forest. Their eyes glanced at the carnage of the 'battlefield' before slowly tapping their paws against the ground toward some wolves that waited for his arrival.
The wolves noticed their leader arrive, one wolf bowed his head. The others seemed to look away shameful of what had happened 'How do you tell your boss that you've almost sacrificed all your workers to secure a kill? And how do you make it seem like it ain't your fault…' These questions ran through the mind of a wolf. The wolf had a scar that pathed a pass of no fur that came down his chest and to his gut.
The scar was recent, in fact the wolf had received the scar on this very battlefield. The wolf hung his head low, his eyes narrowed into a wolf equivalent of hard thinking. This is when he felt a harsh slap glide down his head and push him to the floor.
Looking up he saw his boss looking at him, 'Not enough time… eh' The wolf got up, the paw slap didn't hurt him meaning that his leader was being lenient today.
The scarred wolf began barking, attempting to explain his case "Boss, this human needed to be killed! If we had let that human continue to strive, he would've grown up and become our biggest enemy! His combat arts were greater than some of the long ears martial arts if he taught anyone else his combat arts we would be looking at a population of short ears with unmanned abilities!"
The boss wolf just looked at him, his eyes scoured the field then focused on the body "So you're telling me… You wasted dozens of wolves, just to kill one person because he was a danger to us?" The wolf's word was slowly and each bark growled.
"Yes!" The scarred wolf yipped.
The boss wolf slapped the scarred wolf onto the ground "Fool!" It growled, its bark booming across the forest "Do you think i'm a fool like you? I can clearly see through that pelt of yours and see the little bitchling of a brain you have running away in your head!" The wolf's dark eyes turned a tinge of red.
The scarred wolf whimpered and remained on the ground, this time the slap was hard and carried a lot of force behind it which made him black out a few seconds before he continued to hear his boss's yelling.
"You lost dozens of wolves! In order to take down a single person? Have I not clawed into your brain the idea of hit and run!? Have I not enlightened your eyes with the strength of what having a brain means?" The boss wolf then walked over to the body,
"But boss!" The scarred wolf continued "He would've… destroyed many wolves in the future."
"Your brain may literally be a bug, but even bugs know how to use tactics." The boss wolf turned slightly and growled at him.
"You should've followed what I always say when dealing with a strong opponent… You cut then retreat… cut then retreat… Then you pounce. The blood loss should weaken your opponent and the many wolves you have to deter his pathways eventually he's running around in the forest like a chicken… then after waiting for the small chicken to run around for a while you take its head off. You drive the combat, You pick your fights and you don't lose… to a single person" His eyes reflected the sun with a vicious glint, red and black with a mixture of a white pupil made the wolf seem terrifying even to other wolves. His paws slammed heavily against the ground as he approached the scarred wolf.
The scarred wolf winced and threw itself to the ground in front of its boss.
"However…" The red eyes of the wolf faded slightly "In the end you did indeed kill him… this would save us problems in the future but now we've lost the group between long ear villages."
Relief washed over the scarred wolf.
The wolf boss stared at the scarred wolf "If this situation happens again I won't hesitate to kill you next time… I'm going to grant you a few wolves from my other squad… This time do your job correctly."
"Thank you!" The scarred wolf barked "I'll never let you down!"
The wolf boss walked away, followed by a wolf who had witnessed the conversation between boss and subordinate .
"Why did you allow such an incomptent pack leader live?" The wolf next to the boss wolf piped up.
"You know my plans are just as political as it is martial…" The boss wolf paused before continuing " I'm going to use this incomptent pack leader to hide a few things… Like hiding diamonds within dog shit."
The wolf nodded, before a complicated look came across his face… The wolf leader noticed this "What's wrong?"
The wolf looked at its boss "Are spies have told us that pack leader Grunam had died."
The Boss didn't look concerned "That bastard finally broke and killed one of his own eh?"
"The boss of the territory wasn't responsible for this…" The Boss turned around his interest now piqued.
"Then who was?"
"That's the thing… It was a human. A human that we had chased away from our territory into his… with the report from that incomptent wolf he had sent a small squad to hunt down a human that accompanied the strong human. In the end he ran into Gray's territory." The wolf looked at his boss with a worried gaze.
"That so? So the human killed Grunam then what? It's not our problem anymore. It's Gray's problem." The Wolf Boss had a relaxed gaze, however his gaze seemed to harden more and more as he saw the wolf lower its head.
"We had a report… that a few wolves on break had disappeared. We found one of the wolves in this battlefield the other wolf being a few distances away…"
The boss wolf's face changed, hardening more and more he was pushing his thoughts to the extreme.
"If the wolves see any strange humans… have them report to me immediately." After todays 'failure' he didn't want to lose any more wolves, especially against someone that can kill a pack leader…
