Chapter 27 - Take 2 (1)

I didn't really know how to start. Just because I was prone to waking up during those two limb enhancing surgeries, but I don't just wake up like that, especially when I am presumably dead, or at the very least, my consciousness is looking for a new host or whatever. That's not something that would even be possible, reasonably.

As I said, physical enhancements are all I get, nothing that is inherently magical ever happens with this system. Even so, I couldn't just even try it. The whole "going back in time" thing is still very outlandish, even with their advanced tech. I closed my eye and tried to wake myself up. I couldn't even feel the punches I was giving myself, only that my hands stopped moving. I slapped my face a few times, once again, nothing actually affecting my physical self.

I opened my eye, and saw the timer on the TV actually left me with around 2 minutes. I would like to see more time! There had to be a way to wake up earlier than that…

I messed with my "physical" body, but not quite with my mind, or anything, I mean, it was my consciousness I was moving in. Is that even something I want to mess with? I thought hard, how could I even rupture where I am in? It's just too difficult right now.

"Well, you can give up. But… Try to break the tv, maybe? At least try that out."

I shrugged, going over to the tv, grabbing it, and actually feeling contact with it, this could be what I need to get closer to the answer to this mystery. I pulled it up, and held it at arm's height, and quickly swung at it with my fist-

CRRAKKK

The TV screen quickly ruptured, at least on the surface. The text, however, seemed unaffected. I attacked it again, more of it was damaged, as an orange glow poured through the cracks. I struck it against my knee twice, and soon, a glowing orange smoke seeped out of it.

The smoke swirled around me as I stood still. I watched it flow out towards the infinite void around us. I followed it, the TVs all followed me as the smoke got further from where I started

"Oh, goodie! Progress! Where do you think it will lead to?"

Maybe, like… The seam of my consciousness, and reality. Or, at the very least, the exit to this weird area of my mind.

We had been walking for way longer than I thought, so when there was only 30 seconds, I quickly moved ahead. It was only going one way, so as long as I didn't stray off its path, could I possibly escape?

I continued forwards, reaching ahead for the seam. Maybe this wasn't so good of an idea.

"HEY! Jack, over here, the smoke is.. Cut off, I think!"

I turned around, feeling quite a bit foolish as I went back, watching the smoke vanish cleanly. I felt around where it ended, and there was nothing there. I slowly got closer to the seam, and when I touched where the smoke ended, my arm was sucked through. It was like a vacuum, sucking me outside of the void area. I couldn't stop it for much longer, and soon, I was brought out.

Light filled my eye, I quickly closed my eye and covered the light source with a hand. I heard movement around me, and before I knew it, I was restrained. The light is so bright made it hard for me to keep my dilated eye open easily.

After a few moments, I opened it again and saw a more industrial room, and various alien creatures around me, I couldn't understand much of what they said, of course. What was surprising, was that I understood some words "... sleep…. Done?"

"... Don't…. Finish!… Out... Cause?"

I couldn't get the gist of what they were saying, it was too little for me to know what they were doing. In the middle of their.. Worried conversation? A similar alien entered in, and had a serious face, or so I could discern. "... up? … See… much? … need… know… cause… use..."

They spoke back, again, I couldn't understand anything of value. I squinted at the one approaching those around me, and it seemed they were keeping me a bit too long, as another followed in, and shouted urgent words.

With what sounded like a sigh, the more important one moved its "head" a little and spoke, surprisingly, in English.

"Listen. It's much too soon for you to be doing this. Wait until game 5."

The aliens around me looked at the one who spoke, then to me, before they took me back to my cell, releasing my body.

I was more interested in hearing more. Maybe what I heard was enough, though. The higher ranking one said that I shouldn't know what was happening, maybe not yet? I don't know what it meant by anything it said.

I chose to remain quiet, and they continued my transfer, in silence.

I got to see the outside area of the cells. Buttons on the side presumably controlled the item transference and the return of The Hall's inhabitants. The slab moved out of the way, and I was placed onto my bed. I looked back at the aliens and they looked a bit nervous.

"... due to language barriers"

That one was talking now, was it?

Joe, or something… I grabbed my coin bag and shrugged. If I was to ever want to deal with anything perfectly, now was the time to do it. I really gotta set up my plans, though.
