Chereads / The Lady in Politics / Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

"Third Lady, its morning already! You should prepare for breakfast and later the seamstress will be coming over to deliver your dress for tomorrow night!" I yawned as I jumped out of the bed. Tomorrow night, huh?

Thankfully, I have this girl's memories so I know what happened before. It seems like the first chapter of the novel has already started. My coming-of-age, as well as my sister's, will be happening tomorrow night. Although I was still unsure if this was really a world inside a novel so I just have to wait.

If I remember correctly, according to the novel, the two main leads will meet each other for the second time in the coming-of-age ball that will take place at the palace, royalties and nobles are invited to attend.

In the novel, they will meet in the garden of the palace. Seilah will catch Jaeger, making out with some other noble daughter. Afraid that Seilah might tell the king what she saw, Jaeger chased after her throughout the whole ball, but careful enough not to let Frieda find out.

And if I was right, when Jaeger noticed that Seilah saw him with the girl, he unconsciously pushed the girl towards the fountain and got her drenched in water.

I bit my fingernail as my lady-in-waiting washed me.

To be sure that have a death flag here, that incident must happen tomorrow night. I have to follow Seilah.

And if ever that was really true, I will just have to break off my engagement with Jaeger.

EASY!

. . .

I was walking along the hallway towards the dining hall. It was actually my first time leaving my room after I walk up in here two weeks ago. No one even visited me, not even my own father and siblings. It was just my lady-in-waiting and some other maids, assigned in my chamber.

And I also refused to go anywhere since I was still freaking out with the situation, I'm in at the moment.

The Ducal House of Landerborne was the most influential non-royal ducal house of the kingdom. Headed by Duke Percival Landerborne, the current Chancellor, a position that has been passed from generation to generation in House Landerborne.

Maybe due to the fact, that our deceased mother was the younger sister of the Empress of the empire that has control over the kingdom of Beleriadcrest.

The current head, my father, has two wives but the first wife, which supposedly my birth mother, died, ten years ago. Now, the second wife was the madame, she's also Seilah's birth mother.

So the duke has five children. The first lord, born from the first wife was the Duke's title successor. He's Orion Landerborne, a 23-year old general of the highest-ranking division in the kingdom. He was also regarded as the Palladium General and was quite popular around the ladies. But he was still yet to be married, he always refuses when our father asks him if he had any woman in mind to marry.

The second one was the First Lady, My first sister, Selene Landerborne. 20 years old. She's also the first wife's child. There's nothing much about her, she's not that important of a character in the novel though. She just hates the heroine since he got all the favour, she once has from our father. She will also be marrying the Diamond General, son of the Marquis Lionesea who holds a high position, the captain of the knights in the frontier, the most vital part of the kingdom next to the centre.

The third one was Seilah Landerborne, the second lady of this house. She was the firstborn of the second wife that's she doesn't get along with Selene and Frieda well. Add to it that our father dotes on her so much. Anyway, she's also a knight like Orion. She was under the Gold Division, the third-highest division in the Kingdom. She's the same age as me. Also, she was engaged to the third prince.

And I was the fourth child, the Third Lady of the Ducal House of Landerborne. I was the youngest daughter of the first wife. I was known to be the queen of social society. The epitome of the true noble lady. They pity me for being engaged to the Black sheep of the royal family but they didn't know I'm more cunning than the fourth prince. Well, I will only turn to the dark side after I found out that Jaeger and Seilah have an affair, which will only start my killing spree of notable characters.

So you could say, it was the main leads' fault as well. Right, right! It wasn't just Frieda's!

And lastly, our youngest brother, Stefan Landerborne, the second child of the second wife and the second lord of this house. Unlike Seilah and the second wife who was greatly favoured, Stefan wasn't. Mainly because the Duke thought of him as a disgrace to the house name, to the point that he's not even recorded as a child of this house. Just because he was born with mental deficiency.

What a ruthless father.

As for the second wife, she's fairly kind to us, even if we are the children of the first wife. The madame has introduced as a caring wife and mother in the novel after all.

As I arrived at the dining hall, I greeted them a good morning before I sat on the seat, intended for me. Good thing I was so used to reading novels with the same setting as today, I know what to do.

"Dear! I heard about what happened, have you gone better now? I was so worried!" I know that madame was kind, but if she was really worried, then she should have visited me these past weeks! We are just living in the same house!

I almost thought that this girl doesn't have any family because no one has ever tended to her during the times she's gone hysterical.

"I apologized if ever I caused trouble, everyone. I promised that such incidence will no longer occur." I said modestly. "It wasn't any trouble dear, you're my daughter so it was just right that I will be worried for you." I smiled sweetly.

"I will remember that, mother. Thank you very much for your kindness." I said before I started eating.

After that, we didn't speak of anything else. As I guessed, this family was too distant from each other. A reason why there were so many conflicts that befalls them.

I glanced around and saw Orion. He was really handsome as the novel described him. Long golden hair, similar to mine, emerald green eyes that he inherited from our father, a fair complexion, and a toned physique. He was wearing a knight's uniform, similar to what Seilah was wearing. The only difference was he has silver-white linings while Seilah has gold.

I then turned to Selene who was sitting next to Orion, she's very beautiful too. All of them are beautiful but she was more of a sexy character. She has this royal blue hair and royal blue eyes, from Frieda's memories, it seemed like Selene resemble the former Duchess.

As for Seilah, she has purple hair that she got from their mother, she also has a pair of emerald green eyes she got from our father, similar to Orion. Her face was always blank and it feels like she's soulless. Every time you exchange glances at her, it feels like you will freeze in coldness. She's a beauty as well, someone who will we consider cool in the modern world.

Opposite of her was Freida. Golden Hair, royal blue eyes, pinkish lips. A true angel. She smiles at everyone and very approachable but was still intimidating because most people see her as a flawless lady, even fit to become the next queen. Only if she was not engaged with the fourth prince. She's a beauty whom I will regard as angelic.

To be honest, I would consider her as the protagonist more than Seilah. Or was I just being bias? Hahaha.

Well, from the novels that I have read before, the heroine usually looks angelic compared to anyone else. And in this case, she looks more villainous than the villainess...

I guess, that makes the novel unique?

. . .

During my walk inside the manor's grounds, a realization just came to me.

In novels with the same plot as these reincarnation thingies, usually, the protagonists woke up as a child or sometimes, woke up after critical accidents.

What could have triggered this incidence? I remember nothing about it as well.

"Third Lady, the seamstress has arrived!" A servant called me, Maria, my lady-in-waiting, and I went inside the palace.

I guess I need to set that aside for now. At this moment, I have to focus if I was really in a novel or if was just a place with a similar setting.

But most importantly, I have to dodge or avoid that death flag completely!
