Chapter 24 - Back to Teen Drama

"Well hello, she-devil," I said sliding between Zira and her locker with my arms crossed. "That doesn't seem to be the smartest idea," Oliver said pointedly, standing beside me in solidarity. That was one of my favorite things about Oliver. Even when he knew you were about to do something stupid or possibly dangerous, he would still stand beside you having your back no matter what.

"What do you want, Daniel?" Zira said in a near growl. "And don't you dare use your hypno eyes on me." She added with a scowl.

"Don't worry. The hypno eyes don't work on people who don't have a heart." I said glaring at her.

"Did you really cause a fight with Katherine on her first day back?" I demanded. Zira smirked before pushing at my shoulder. I moved away watching as Zira put away her books.

"What if I did?" Zira said giving me a side eye.

"You and your boy-toy going to attack me?" Zira asked quizzically.

"Why should it matter to you, in any case? Didn't she send both you losers to the infirmary?" She said smirking at both of us. Oliver scowled.

"She does have a point." He pointed out, looking at me. I gave him a dark look before I looked back at Zira.

"Why did you attack her? Why provoke her?" I asked.

Zira scowled. "Not that I answer to you," She said slamming her locker as she did so, and holding her books close before she gave Oliver a look and turned to me.

"I provoked, Katherine like you said, because she and I have always been on opposite sides, in the classroom, in fights, but I recently learned that Katherine and I are eventually going to be part of the new elemental council once the first council officially steps down. Technically Katherine is already a part of the new council seeing as Marcus already stepped down and her powers directly mirror his. Her element is wind. Which is loosely translated to storms and thunder, like she demonstrated when she struck at me in the gym. She doesn't need to learn the nuances of magic or the history of magic, she would be better served learning how to use her powers in the field. We won't always have this school, and we need to learn how to face the world as who we are, not who we pretend to be." Zira said.

"That's oddly, practical of you," I said my eyebrows furrowing. I had never thought about the fact that Zira and Katherine were the first of the elemental witches to appear.

"What made you think of that?" I asked looking at Zira who looked sad all of a sudden.

"I thought about it during my own kidnapping. My kidnappers wanted to use me as a sacrifice because of my elemental fire. I never want to be that vulnerable again, and I never want something like that to happen to Katherine." She said.

I looked at her surprised. She never mentioned her kidnapping before. She always seemed so strong and fearless, I had never really considered how terrified she must've been when it had happened. She had nearly died.

"But if you tell anyone, that I actually care about Katherine, I will deny it." She said pushing me away making my clothes spark at the force. I watched her walk away her red hair shining like a beacon as she walked I turned to Oliver.

"That was unexpected," I said, he rolled his eyes and put his arm around me. "Come on, I need to eat something," Oliver said.

I followed him into the lunchroom and watched him immediately let go of me to join the line, I wasn't as interested in food as he was so I ended up looking around and my eyes landed on Davenna. Davenna didn't usually eat dinner here, preferring to just grab something when she got to the club.

Davenna was the adopted daughter of Marcus and his boyfriend, Hunter. They all lived over the club Hunter's Moon. It had caused quite a stir when everyone had found out that Davenna had left so suddenly to chase after her friend Zira after she had been kidnapped. She'd even left with the twin Dragons who had immediately rounded up their girlfriends to help on this mission. They were all extremely unique and pretty good at causing trouble.

"Hey, Davenna. I'm surprised to see you here." I said joining her table. Davenna scowled at me, putting down the book she was reading I glanced at the cover.

"Four dead Queens? Isn't that morbid?" I commented, my eyebrows raised.

She scowled at me. "Never judge a book by its title." She said wagging a finger at me.

"Isn't it never judge a book by its cover?" I asked. She scowled at me.

"Katherine hasn't been suspended by the way," Davenna said looking at me.

"I never asked," I said glancing at her.

"You sure about that?" she said looking at me.

I scowled. "Zira told you already?" I said scowling.

"We do have cellphones." She said dryly."My dad, you know the headmaster, sent her on a mission with the Dragons. He thought she needed an outlet for her frustration that you know, wasn't you. Or Zira. Don't you think that's a better idea?" she said quietly.

I brushed a hand through my hair. "I don't even know why she left the last time." I said.

"She'll talk to you eventually," Davenna said with a smile. "Just keep busy till that happens."

Hunter's Bar

"Is this is what busy looks like?" I asked with a huff as I dropped the heavy box on the table.

"Shouldn't you be happy that I'm trying to keep you busy?" Davenna asked.

I scowled looking around at the bar. It was barely six pm but it was already close to packed. "Why is it so busy today?" I asked handing her bottles from the box.

I'd been hanging with Davenna after class (Human History: why we should care) when Hunter had called asking for help with storage. Davenna and I were restocking the shelves behind the bar.

Thankfully at the bar that not a lot of people knew actually existed in Hunter's Bar. Since Hunter's Bar catered to both humans and those of supernatural tastes, there was another bar that mirrored the ones that humans could see. Marcus had put a spell so if the first bar ran out of something that the second bar had, it would appear in the first bar, which came in handy on nights when it was uber busy, like tonight. "I'd be happier if it meant I'm getting some house food," I said dryly.

"That can be arranged," Davenna said cheekily.

"Where's your no-good boyfriend?" I asked.

"My no-good boyfriend was asked to go to the witches brewery to check on something. He couldn't tell me what." Davenna said.

"Doesn't that get annoying? Not being able to know where your loved ones have gone?" I asked.

"I've gotten used to it," Davenna said. I rolled my eyes as I continued to take out bottles.

"I cannot believe that you tricked me into doing community service," Oliver said his eyes narrowed in my direction as he brought over another box.

"Quit your complaining. I'm paying all of you in fried goods." Hunter drawled as he walked by.

I glanced at Oliver, raising my eyebrows. "Fried goods are always good," I said.

"Just put the bottles away. I have one more box to get." Oliver said scowling. I rolled my eyes and continued to put away the many bottles of bourbon. I scowled at them. Katherine loved Bourbon. Especially apple flavor bourbon.

"Aren't you stocking the wrong bar?" I froze at the new voice, whipping around I was suddenly face to face with a sixteen-year-old girl with dark hair with blonde tips staring at me with darkly kohled eyes. I gaped at her in surprise.

"Hi?" I said uncertainly. Humans weren't supposed to see this bar. I should've of been masked seeing as I was behind the bar.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked my face scrunching in confusion.

"My name is Aria. Aria Summer, I'm looking for Rina Drake, have you seen her?"
