New Mexico - Rina
"Well hello, lost lovers." Darius's smirking voice said.
I opened my eyes blearily looking around as I got up groggily. "What the hell," I said, as I realized immediately that I was in New Mexico.
"How the hell did I even get here?" I asked glancing at Darius before I glanced down at myself. I half expected to be wearing one of my Vemos dresses and to have chains on my wrists. As I looked down, thankful I was still dressed in my leather jacket and jeans, I realized that Dorian lay beside me looking like he had just fallen asleep, his forehead furrowed as his eyes scrunched down once before his eyes opened. He glanced up and scowled.
"Darius, what the hell did you do?" he said cursing as he stood. I followed his lead and was surprised to see that behind us sat Helena, Darius's sister, looking at Dorian and I darkly. "I was wondering when I would see you both, again. I never thought I would be the one to summon you." Helena said.
Dorian scowled. "You did this?" he said darkly.
"Do you really think it wise to be helping Dragons? Or werewolves, witches, and Vampires?" Helena drawled. Dorian scowled and approached Helena. I turned to look at Dorian.
"Want something to eat, honey?" Darius asked smirking as he watched Dorian and Helena bicker in a foreign language.
"They will definitely take a while. You know how exes are." He said smiling hugely at what he probably felt was a huge joke.
"I despise you," I said walking away from him.
He quickly caught up to me and led me towards the town square. "There's a lovely Café over there," Darius said leading me to the left corner of the square.
"I'm going there, not because you're telling me to but because you are going to tell me what the hell is going on here, and how the hell we got separated from our group and I'm going to need a coffee to hear your bullshit excuse," I said narrowing my eyes at him.
We walked through the square and took a left to the Café, which was styled in a modern Parisian style. We took a seat on the patio, after the waiter took our orders; a crepe with fruit and a large latte for me. A medium mocha, and chocolate croissants for Darius (the child!).
I turned to look at Darius darkly. "What did the two of you do?" I asked shrewdly, taking a sip of my latte.
Darius smirked. "You know Helena." He said resting an arm on the chair that sat beside him as he took a huge bite of his croissant.
"She knew that the two of you were headed our way, so she speeded up the process and assisted in getting two of your other people to where they needed to be," Darius said simply.
"Helena sent people to Belmora?" I asked my eyes wide.
"Not all of them. The only two that will be able to convince Isadora to help." Darius said.
"You seem pretty well informed," I said my eyes narrowed. Darius took a sip of his coffee, staring at me while I did.
"I always have my ways to keep an eye on my friends," Darius said.
"Are we friends?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
"I've always tried to keep an eye on you. And your son. You don't know how sorry I am that I was unable to save him from Raphael's wrath." Darius said.
"No one could have saved him from Raphael's wrath. He knew that the child was the reason I left. It's just Dorian and Terry that have no idea who the child was." I said, taking a bite of my crepe, I remembered leaving the Kingdom of Vemos.
I hadn't been overly concerned for my safety, but the moment I learned I was with child I had been determined to save it from a horrible fate. The child and Dorian, the father of the child, and the one person who had no idea that he had birthed a child with me. We'd only been together once, and it had been forbidden.
Forbidden, which is why we had been known as the forbidden lost lovers to the muses. "Dorian can never see things that are right in front of him. It's his fatal flaw." Darius mused.
"Why would you and Helena go through so much trouble?" I asked.
"Because you and Dorian fighting to save two dragons is a noble cause. Much nobler than either of you have any right to be, given everything you both have been through. When Samara died, I thought Dorian could never be happy again. But that changed the day he met you." Darius said.
"Why are you bringing this up now?" I asked narrowing my eyes.
"Because the king is dying. The landscape of Vemos is about to change forever. I think it's time you and Dorian claimed the throne."
"From Raphael? Are you insane?" I asked my eyes wide.
"There are many of the old courts that see you as the true heir. Dorian is a crown prince of old. If you both take the throne Vemos has a chance to survive. You and I both know Raphael will destroy the kingdom." Darius said his voice full of passion. "And what about my brother? You know the actual Heir to the kingdom? The one that has been trained all his life to take the throne?"
"Your brother is too human, too carried away by his emotions to ever do what is necessary. You and Dorian saved the kingdom from the wrath of the three witches. You saved Raphael. You brought peace to the nine vampire covens. You and Dorian can bring Vemos to an era of peace and tranquility. I believe in you both. The two of you together will be stronger than any King alone."
Dorian
"Helena, I always knew you were crazy but this is bordering on true insanity," I said walking away from her shaking my head.
"You are talking about war. Raphael will never hand over Vemos. He believes the kingdom is rightfully his. He would sooner kill Rina than see her on the throne. I will not put her life and mine in danger because you are afraid." I said glaring at her.
She looked at me darkly. "I'm not the only one who will be doomed if Raphael takes the throne. You have to see this. You and Rina have no choice. Terry can no longer claim the throne. They don't trust him, at all anymore. He fell in love with a human. He has been living as a human for years. He is no longer a demon prince. If he ever was." Helena spat out.
"Are you willing to let Raphael destroy centuries of history and tradition out of fear?" she said.
"What do we care if Vemos falls," I said turning to look at Helena who was staring at me her eyes wide. "You can't mean that. That is not you. It can't be you."
"Maybe it should be. Maybe if I hadn't been such a coward centuries ago, things could've been different. Rina stood up to them and she lost her son. Samara stood up to them and was killed for it. Nathaniel, my king killed my sister and I did nothing. Rina lost her son, and I did nothing. I have always done what my king has asked me to." I said.
"And now the king you serve is King no longer. The throne will never belong to Terry. Vemos has spoken and it wants the true king on the throne and that's you. It's always been you. No matter what you say or do." Helena said.
I looked at her darkly. " I can't," I said gritting my teeth with my anger.
"If you can't Vemos will be lost forever. Can you deal with that?" Helena muttered.
"Nothing lasts forever. Nothing should not even Vemos." I said looking at Helena.
Who sighed as she looked at me. "For the love of Zeus, I cannot believe you are being so obstinate." She said.
"How about we deal with the Dragons first before we tackle anything else," I said taking a glance around and immediately noticing Darius and Rina were absent.
"FOR THE LOVE OF HERMES! WHERE IS DARIUS NOW?"
