"Three demons and a witch walk into a bar," Terry said the moment he saw us walk into the bar.
"That isn't even remotely funny," I said glaring at my brother. He grinned cheekily at me.
"Did you get what you needed?" Terry asked.
"What we needed was Zenna's sister instead we found Darius and Helena and their hidden agendas," I said raising my eyebrow at Darius.
"What hidden agendas?" Terry said suspiciously.
"Nothing that concerns you," Darius said snippily. Terry glared at Darius.
"Never mind that, do you know where the Dragons are?" I said, glancing at my brother who scowled.
"I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that my boss, Hunter is a freaking werewolf," Terry said looking at me.
"Which apparently you've known all this time." He said glaring at me.
I shrugged. "Of all the places you could've gone, you chose the one place where I have friends," I said raising my eyebrows.
Terry scowled. "You do realize most of the staff are made up of supernatural creatures," Dorian said smirking a bit at the former dark prince.
"I know that now," Terry said sharply. He rolled his eyes shoving a hand through his hair, before he looked back at me. "The Dragon's as you say," Terry said putting air quotations around the word Dragons. "Are on their way back from New York. They should be back in half an hour." Terry said. "After you told me what happened I sent word to Marcus who told everyone to meet back here." Terry said.
"Another private party?" I asked leaning forward and helping myself to three shot glasses and a bottle of Tequila much to Terry's chagrin.
"No private party," Terry said.
"Marcus just wanted everyone to be in a single place. The bar has always been a meeting place of sorts." Darius said, swallowing a double shot of Tequila.
"And how would you know that?" Terry asked looking at Darius with disdain. Despite fighting together to save Raphael so many years ago they still fought like rivals whenever they met.
"Don't be jealous little prince," Darius said with a smirk. "I met Marcus a long time ago in New Mexico," Darius explained. "He was the one who lifted the spell that allowed demons who were banished to escape the confines of New Mexico," Darius said.
"And how long ago was this?" Terry asked.
"Long before I ran away from Vemos," I said, remembering how easy it was to leave New Mexico. There had been no trace of magic in the borders of the city.
"So all those times you came back reporting to the king you were what? Lying?" Dorian asked looking at Darius darkly.
Darius scowled at the accusation. "I knew better than to let everyone out. I always made sure that the most ruthless of us always stayed within the border, and we all know that the banishment wasn't always fair. People like Cassie, who actually protected the kingdom by breaking the rules have always been free to come and go as they pleased.
"I've lived in New Orleans for years and never saw Cassie," Terry said.
"Cassie hasn't been here for very long," Darius said.
"And she mostly sticks to the Academy," Damien said as he passed by. Terry glanced at Damien who grabbed a couple of bottles of whisky before he left.
"I didn't know he was working today," Terry said.
"He's not. Just helping out." Hunter said as he put a box of fried goods on the table in the middle of Darius and Dorian.
"Please refrain from feeding on the locals today," Hunter said, eyeing down both Darius and Dorian.
"Well, that's a nice welcome," Darius said as he grabbed an onion ring. "We haven't even met before," Darius said pouting a little in Hunter's direction.
"Your reputation precedes you," Hunter said dryly. "Cassie is one of my best friends." Hunter pointed out.
Darius grinned. "I assume it was your boyfriend who ran off with my best informant," Darius said.
"And then gave her a teaching position when he, became headmaster in the Academy," Hunter said smirking as he walked away.
"I like him," Darius said.
"Me too." I said smiling gleefully. I grabbed some fries from the box and took a glance around the club was packed probably by humans but I wouldn't be surprised if Hunter's former pack was part of the crowd, not to mention a mix of witches and demons who always ate here for free.
It was nice being here.
I'd spent so much time secluding myself from people (Supernatural people specifically), that it felt so very nice to be part of a crowd.
I turned back to the bar where Darius and Dorian seemed to be bickering over some long-forgotten argument when I heard my name being called. My head whipped around and my mouth gaped open when I realized that the dark-haired girl, in the red dress was Aria and that she was making her way toward me. I walked forward not wanting my brother or Dorian to meet Aria.
"What are you doing here?" I exclaimed.
Aria put her arms around my waist and it immediately took me back to my baby Seth doing the same exact thing. I swallowed forcefully. Moving her arms from around my waist I held her hands. "Aria what are you doing here?" I asked again.
"I told you that I came back for my family. Seth might be gone but you are still my family." Aria said.
I blinked hard at her words. It had been so long since someone had called me family without it being an insult. "Oh, Aria." I sighed my heart breaking.
"Also. I saw a werewolf." Aria said dropping my hands as my eyes widened. "So I'm kind of freaking out here." She said.
And as she spoke I searched her eyes before I straightened. "What werewolf?" I asked narrowing my eyes.
"My best friend Oliver." A boy said coming up from behind me. I scowled deeply. Before I grabbed him by the ear and pushed Aria into the kitchen. "You boy explain yourself. NOW." I said my eyes flashing dangerously.
So the boy explained. His name was Daniel. And he spoke of realizing that Aria could see the supernatural world. And how he had brought her to Marcus, who had volunteered one of his spare rooms to Aria. And how she and Daniel had stumbled in on Oliver in his werewolf form. I blinked twice at the news before I slowly turned to look at Daniel.
Daniel paled in response to my look. "Don't freak. It just sort of happened. I didn't know Oliver was in his werewolf form. Aria ran from me when she heard him howl." Daniel said.
"Of course, she did you, idiot. I would've wanted to know why there was a wolf in the freaking alley!" I said my eyes turning dark. "Do you even realize how much danger Aria could've been in? She could've been bitten!"
"Quit screaming at the poor boy. This isn't the first time a human has stumbled across the supernatural world." Hunter said from behind us. He looked at me pointedly. "You should know that better than anyone." He said, and I knew immediately he was speaking of Vanessa who knew way too much about Demons and the history of Vemos thanks to me and my brother. I glared at Hunter who just gave me a wide grin before exiting the room.
I scowled. "I would never have let her be bitten." Daniel said sounding hurt at the accusation. I rolled my eyes before I turned back to look at Aria who was now staring at me. "You've known about the supernatural world? For how long?" she asked. I visibly cringed at the question. Where should I even start? The fact that I was half angel, half demon? Or that I was technically born in a time before cities or museums.
"Aria. Now is not the best time for this discussion. Tomorrow come to my dance studio at Ten. I'll tell you everything. Starting with me." I said. "I have something I need to do tonight. But after that I'm all yours."
