Daniel
"She must be magic," I said my arms crossed as I stared at Headmaster, Marcus. He scowled, as he looked over the railing at where Aria was pacing back and forth.
"You should not have brought her here," Marcus said darkly. "The Academy has enough ruffians as it is without adding a potential magical human in the mix," Marcus said.
"She could see me through the under bar," I said.
"There have been many humans while under the influence who have been able to see things they shouldn't. Not every magical creature has the ability to shield themselves from the gaze of humans." Marcus said.
I scowled. "Do not lecture me. I have a bad feeling about this girl. She doesn't seem human." I said feeling aggravated with how condescending Marcus was becoming.
"Well, we could ask," Marcus said thoughtfully.
"Excuse me?" I asked in surprise at Marcus's sudden change of mood. I watched surprised as Marcus walked down the stairs.
"Aria? Aria Summer, isn't it?" he asked as he approached. Aria turned to frown at Marcus.
"That's me." She said with a sigh as she crossed her arms glancing at Marcus with his midnight blue suit, her eyes pausing at the bright silver cravat before looking at his silver eyes.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"My name is Marcus. And I'm headmaster at this school." He said.
Aria raised her eyebrows. "This is a school?" Aria asked. "For what exactly? Why am I even here?" she said scowling.
"My student." Marcus paused long enough to send an annoyed glance my way, "Seems to think you are special." He said very carefully, gauging Aria's reaction.
"Well, I think he's special." She said sarcasm lacing her tone as she glared up at me. I flinched at her gaze as she turned back to look darkly at Marcus. "I don't have time for this. I'm only here because Daniel." She said putting air quotations at my name. "Said you could tell me where Rina is."
Marcus raised his eyebrows. "Rina?"
"Rina, Drake. She's family." Aria said stubbornly.
"Rina is a friend. A good friend, that's helping me out with a problem. I don't exactly know when she'll be back. But you are welcome to stay with me, while you wait." Marcus said.
"In this school?" she said narrowing her eyes.
"Not in this school, actually. I have a spare room over the bar. It's not much but it has a bed." Marcus explained.
"A bed does sound nice." Aria hedged.
"Great. Daniel can take you back. I have paperwork." Marcus said looking up at me. I scowled but walked back downstairs to Aria's dark stare, I think I would've instead faced a guillotine.
"What did your headmaster mean, by special?" Aria asked. It was the first time she'd spoken to me since we left the library and we were already halfway to the bar. I won't lie, hearing her voice after so much silence, startled me quite a bit.
"You're asking this now?" I said narrowing my eyes at her. "Why didn't you ask the headmaster?" I asked.
She scowled at my response. "Forget it." She said walking past me, we were nearing an alleyway when we heard an earsplitting scream followed by an angry growl. Aria stopped immediately in her tracks. "What the hell was that?" she asked her eyes wide.
I knew exactly what it was. A werewolf, namely my werewolf. Oliver. I glanced up at the sky. The moon wasn't even out, so I had no idea why he had even turned.
"Aria…" I began before she dashed away from me into the alleyway.
"ARIA WAIT!" I said my eyes wide. I ran after her but she was surprisingly fast for a supposed human. I'd finally caught up to her, "Aria it's late. You shouldn't run off like that." I said grabbing her arm.
"What is that?" she said, her eyes focused on what I had assumed were shadows. But shadows didn't have familiar green eyes.
I scowled. "That's my good-for-nothing best friend," I said.
Aria turned to look at me with surprise. "A WEREWOLF?" she said in a hushed whisper as if she was afraid of spooking Oliver. She looked back at Oliver and gulped. "So that's what he meant when he said Special."
I looked at her surprised she was taking this so well and then watched as her body sagged and seemed to crumple into itself. I grabbed her in a bridal carry before she could completely fall. I glowered at Oliver.
"Of all the days you had to lose control," I said darkly. He growled at me before putting his head in his paws and went to sleep. Like the backstabbing friend that he is.
"For the love of Zeus." Daniel said glancing down at Aria. "Why does this always happen to me." he muttered as he walked back to the bar, hoping that he wouldn't bump into anyone else.
