Chapter 11 - THE ESCAPE

Davenna watched as more guards ran out, leaving fewer guards with Zira. She waited for Ifrinn's signal and then pulled a dagger into each hand and walked into the room. Ifrinn followed, slamming the first guard, while Davenna threw one dagger at a guard, jumped at him dropping him to the floor, and ran up to the third guard, bringing her dagger low slicing at his knees and ramming the handle of the dagger into his face knocking him out cold. She grabbed his bow and turned and shot an arrow at the two faes that turned to approach them. Ifrinn blew something towards the remaining guards and they all fell hard to the ground.

Zira turned around at the commotion. Her face brightened, getting up and moving to Davenna. Who hugged her tightly. "I knew you would come for me," Zira said smiling.

Davenna let her go looking at her carefully. "Are you hurt? Did they harm you?" Davenna asked, touching her elbow.

"Besides this," Zira said raising her wrists and showing the enflamed skin around the blackthorn bracelets, "I'm fine," Zira said. Ifrinn put his swords back into their sheaths.

"Allow me," He said putting his hands out. Zira hesitated for a moment before she put her hands in his. Ifrinn slid his hands so they were just above the bracelets and closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them again, his hands shone with purple light and the bracelets disappeared a line of violet flowers appearing and sinking into Zira's skin, disappearing. Davenna narrowed her eyes in surprise. "What was that?" Davenna asked suspiciously.

"Light magic," Ifrinn said. Davenna looked at him. "I thought you were a forest fae?" She asked suspiciously.

"I never said that," Ifrinn said.

Davenna

We headed towards the Dark King's Hall, even though all I wanted was to gather Zira up and spirit her away to somewhere that was safe. I was surprised as we saw a mass amount of guards on the ground outside the hall. Prince stood cleaning blood off his sword. Discord at a distance was wrapping up a length of black cord in a circle. "Seems like we missed quite a fight," Ifrinn said with a smirk. "We barricaded the gates on the lower floors." Discord said. "There shouldn't be any more guards coming from there. The Dark Court is all that's left if they haven't completely been drowned by Iris." She said smiling fondly as she only did when she spoke of her favorite siren.

"How are you feeling?" Prince asked Zira, who looked at him and Discord curiously. "As well as can be expected." She said.

"I'm Prince. And that degenerate over there is Discord." He said ignoring the face Discord made at him. "Unfortunately we still need to face the King. Do you need a weapon?" he asked.

Zira twisted her wrists smiling when fire sprouted from the palms of her hands. "Allow me." She said, walking into the hall and spreading her hands wider before slamming her palms into the floor making two trails of fire rush out the floor making the remaining members of the Dark Court back away, and pushing the King away from where he was fighting Damien on a raised dais by his throne.

"You wanted the Daughter of the Dawn. WELL, HERE I AM." Zira said, fire surrounding her like a halo. Davenna glanced at Ifrinn before they both went behind Zira, Raena, and Iris joining them on Zira's other side. The King raised his hand's dark thorny vines bursting out of the floor. "You aren't leaving." He said.

Zira pushed her hands out a wall of fire flying out of her fingertips. "YES, I AM. And you will not be coming for me again!" Zira said, Discord put a hand, out and purple thunder attacked the vines making the King push harder.

"Give up King. This isn't a fight you will win." Discord said. "I will never stop until I get what I WANT." The King said.

"I'm well aware." Everyone turned at the sound of a musical voice broke into the hall. King Bastien's eyes widened as the Queen of Light appeared. "Urielia?" He said. The Queen smiled and threw out her hand and the King flew falling and toppling his throne.

Zira dropped her hands looking at the Queen in surprise. "What."

"Hello, Daughter of the Dawn." The Queen said with a smile her eyes landing on Davenna for a moment before she looked back at the King who rose from the rubble that had once been his throne.

"You guys might want to back up." The Queen said pulling out a sword that looked like it was made out of pure light. King Bastien picked up his sword and launched at the Queen who met him spar for spar. A shower of sparks surrounding them.

"What's going on?" Zira asked quietly.

"Nothing good," Ifrinn said.
