Ifrinn
I knew everyone would be busy with the festival. Much too busy to focus on where I may have disappeared to. I took the secret entrance through the garden and crossed into the light kingdom with no problems.
As a former guard of the light kingdom, I probably should've worried more about how incredibly easy it had been to get into the castle through the secret passageway. But that was another life. And I had more pressing concerns.
The garden was as majestically beautiful as it had always been. I made my way to the cherry blossom tree, that stood in the middle of the garden. Underneath the tree was a granite bench that shone in the light. Sitting on the bench reading a gilded tome was the Queen of Light herself. "My Queen," I said as I went down on one knee in a deep bow. One hand resting over my heart. "My guardian Knight." The Queen said her violet eyes shining. The same eyes that Davenna had. "I had hoped it was you." She said smiling gently at me.
"I felt a portal mere hours ago. I felt my daughter's presence. She is here. Isn't she?" The Queen said tears filling her eyes. "She is. But she does not know who you are or who she is." I said as gently as I could.
The Queen frowned. "When she went through the portal she was found by two men, who cared for her as if she was their very own daughter. By the time I got there, it would have been unfair to separate them. And as a baby, she did not show any of the powers she had been born with. She does have latent magic ability, but none of the powers you or," Ifrinn said hesitating. "Or her father does."
Ifrinn looked at the Queen, saddened by the fact that he needed to further burden her. "Your majesty. I bring ill tidings. The Dark King kidnapped a girl of immense power. I can only guess for what purpose. Your daughter Davenna was brought up with this girl as the closest of friends. I fear the outcome of what has yet to pass." I said.
"I came to warn you," I said, watching as the Queen rose.
"Bastien will never stop. He grows darker by the day." The Queen said.
"Stay by my daughter's side. I will be on guard as you should be. Try to rescue the girl. But be prepared for war." The Queen said her gaze on the rose-colored walls that hid the Light Kingdom from the Dark. "The Walls are about to come down."
Damian
I am so going to be fired, both from the bar and as Marcus's lawyer. I sat in the middle of a ballroom that the Dark Court rarely used by the state of the dust throughout the room. Artemis and the rest of the newly emerged Greek Gods and Davenna were all fighting over our next moves. I sighed, I should've stayed away from Davenna, from this fight. But something about Davenna kept pulling me back into her orbit. I don't even know why, or when she became so very important to me.
"I've seen that look before," Julio said as he sat down beside me.
"Yeah, on his face and his brothers," Iris said with a smirk, Julio softened as Iris came and sat on my other side. "There's no cure for what ails you," Julio murmured.
"Why else would you have traveled all this way, in the thick of things, to save a girl you have barely tolerated in the past. If not to help the girl, you yourself drawn to." Iris pointed out.
I scowled. "Like two gossiping hens the two of you are," I said getting up and moving closer to where the rest were talking battle strategy.
"She's tiny. What good is she going to be in a battle? Or a fight?" Prince said his arms crossed. I knew that he was referring to Artemis not because he was being mean but because he was actually curious.
I had been around enough scrapping supernaturals to know that size never mattered when it came to fighting, and I knew I was about to be proven correct when instead of Artemis yelling or demanding she simply smiled sweetly in Prince's direction. Too sweet.
I watched as she glanced at Theodore once before she walked up to Prince pulling out a long piece of black cord almost invisible to the eye. But I saw it as did Prince who narrowed his eyes as he looked down at Artemis who was now facing him.
"And what is that supposed to do?" Prince asked raising an eyebrow. "Put you on your knees," Artemis said smiling before she punched him in his midsection causing him to bend closer with a gasp, she elbowed him in the face, when he backed up from the impact she used the cord to go around him twisting once to harden the cord and made a violent movement that caused him to go down on his knees.
"Told you, you'd be on your knees," Artemis said with a smirk. I glanced at Davenna who was scowling her focus upwards at one of the high windows. "Dusk is approaching; we need to move soon," Davenna said.
"She's right. They just collected Zira from her tower." Ifrinn said as he walked in. "We don't even know where she'll be," Davenna said fearfully. "But we know where the King will be. Where he always is." Ifrinn said pointedly. I closed my eyes, getting that bad feeling in my stomach. Which was insane seeing as I'd been dead for over 400 years.
"Please tell me you aren't suggesting what I think you're suggesting," I said in a near growl. Davenna looked at me her eyes dark. "What's he suggesting?" Prince asked making me scowl. "Oh Prince, isn't it obvious? He's suggesting Chaos." Discord said her eyes bright with mischief.
"Naturally you approve," I said with a scoff. Discord suddenly appeared beside me putting an arm around me. "Come on Vampire. Bet you could use a little chaos in your life." She said with a smirk. I looked at Davenna surprised to see her eyes on the arm Discord had around me. "I'm not sure, I follow," Davenna said carefully. "Ifrinn is suggesting a two-pronged attack," I said crossing my arms and shrugging Discord off of me.
Hulio suddenly appeared at Davenna's side. "Like what we did during the Day of the Dead festival earlier this year." He murmured judging by the way Davenna's eyes lit up in recognition. I knew she understood what they meant. Which made me curious about what happened during the Day of the Dead festival.
Davenna looked at Ifrinn. "Did you see where they took Zira?" Davenna asked. "Yes, and I'm coming with you," Ifrinn said darkly. My mood darkened further at his words, I had noticed that Ifrinn had seemed highly protective of Davenna since our journey here and I was curious as to the why.
"Well Damian is coming with us," Artemis said. Prince narrowed his eyes glancing at Discord. "I assume that means your coming with us." He said looking at Discord. She smiled widely. "Don't worry. Everything will be fine."
EVERYTHING WAS NOT FINE.
