I froze once the doctor hung up. Harry was in the hospital at this very moment. He was found at the side of the bar with a bloody face and a broken arm. What the hell happened to him?
It was already three in the morning. My club mates are probably awake. I need to be at the program later, but I need to see my best friend.
I stood up from my bed, grabbing my jacket before heading downstairs. I grabbed Robin by the arm as I caught a sight of him.
"I need to leave." I blurted out.
"What? Why? We need to start cooking." Robin said.
"Someone important to me is in the hospital, Robin. I can't stay. I can't..... I can't breathe."
Robin placed his hands on my shoulders before pulling me into a hug. "Callie, calm down. Breathe. Just breathe." he cooed. "You can go. Stay with your family member. You don't have to go to the program later. It's fine." he said as he pulled away from the hug.
"Thank you." I said. "I owe you one."
He grinned, teasingly. "Yes, you do, Ali. Stay here. I'll get someone to drive you." he said before heading upstairs.
After a few minutes, Robin went back down but this time he wasn't alone. He was with Rhys. A sleepy Rhys.
I frowned. "Really? You woke someone else up just to drive me?" I asked, slightly embarrassed. "Montecillio, you don't have to. I'll just get a taxi or uber." I said as I tied my hair up into a ponytail.
"No no no. AJ would be happy to drive you because he owes me, isn't that right?" Robin tightens his smile.
Rhys sighed. "Whatever. Let's go." he grumbled as he walked out of the door.
"Thank you again, Robin." I smiled before leaving the house and hopping inside of Rhys' car. "Can you drive fast? I need to be at the hospital as soon as possible."
He nodded. "We'll get there fast. Don't worry." he said.
I took a deep breath. I hate this. Bad things always happen to me, to Harry, to Maven, and to Sky. Maybe we are cursed like the students of Qetsiyah Academy said.
"You can drop me off here." I said, taking off my seatbelt. Rhys did not stop driving until we reached the parking lot. "What are you doing?" I asked as he turned off the ignition and removed his seatbelt.
"I'm going in with you." he said in a serious tone. "I'm going because Robin would kill me if I left you alone." he added before hopping out of his car.
I huffed and decided not to argue before following him inside the emergency room.
"Harrison Lincoln. Is he here?" I asked, frantically.
"Hold on. I'll go get the doctor. " the nurse said. When the nurse came back, a tall man with dark brown hair approached us.
"You must be Calistine." the doctor said. "I'm the doctor who called you. Dr. Marks." he said.
"Is he alright?" I quickly asked. "Did he tell you what happened?" I asked.
"Mr. Lincoln will have to wear a cast for a mouth to make sure that his bones will heal properly. As for his head, he has a slight concussion." Dr. Marks explained. "We'd like to keep him here overnight to observe him."
"He won't need surgery or something?" I asked.
"No, he does not." the doctor smiled, assuringly.
I sighed in relief. "Oh, thank God. Can I see him now?" I asked. "Or does he need to rest."
He shook his head. "He's been waiting for you, actually. Let's go, I'll show you up to his room."
I happily followed the doctor while Rhys trailed from behind. Thank God, Harry is fine. I don't need to call his parents.
"This is our stop." Dr. Marks said. "Harry must be lucky to have you as his girlfriend."
I chuckled nervously, scratching the back of my neck. "We aren't together. We're just friends." I informed.
"Really?" his eyes widened in shock. He waved off the embarrassment he was feeling before speaking. "Nah. Don't worry. That's how my wife and I ended up together. We became best friends before we became lovers."
I was about to make a comment but his pager beeped which made him run away from us. Without another word, I entered the room without knocking. I stopped before glancing at Rhys.
"I'll stay here. Go talk to your boyfriend."
I rolled my eyes. "He's not my boyfriend." I huffed before entering the room. I quickly caught a sight of Harry with a scowl on his face as he hung up the phone. "Woah. What's got you in a sour mood?" I smirked.
"You came." he said, sounding surprised.
"Of course I came. You listed me as your emergency contact, you dingus." I pointed out, sitting at the end of the bed. "Mind explaining what happened?"
"Just a fight with my brother. No big deal." he answered, nonchalantly.
I frowned. This always happens when Harry's brother comes home drunk. The last time this happened, Harry almost got stabbed. I honestly don't know why he still lives with him when I offered to let him stay with us.
"Harrison, I already said it once, I'll say it again. Don't go back to that drunk. You can always live with us. Even Carter offered!" I exclaimed. "Plus, this is assault. You can get him arrested. Hell, I'll get him arrested for you, if you want."
He shook his head in disagreement. "That's the thing. I don't want to get him arrested. He's ego will be completely shattered if I do." he chuckled. "As for your offer, I'll think about it."
"You better choose wisely, Harrison." I huffed. "If you decline, I swear. I will drag you by the hair." I warned.
"Feisty as ever, Ali." Harry smiled, lazily.
I spent another two hours there until Harry fell asleep. I placed the blanket over his shoulder before quietly leaving the room. I was shocked to see Rhys there, quietly waiting.
"Hey, what are you still doing here?" I asked, confused.
"You don't have a ride and I told you I'll wait here." he yawned.
"Thanks for waiting." I beamed.
He just shrugged before we made our way to the elevator. "Is Lincoln alright?" he asked, glancing at me.
I nodded. "He just needs rest." I answered.
"I didn't know you and Lincoln were related." he muttered.
My forehead creased. "We aren't."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah. Where did you hear that?" I asked, curiously.
"Robin told me that your family member is in the hospital." Rhys answered. "Isn't that true?"
"Of course it's not true, but I do consider him family." I shrugged.
"You must mean something to him because he placed you as his emergency contact." he said as we hopped inside the car.
"Of course I mean something to him." I scoffed. "I'm his best friend." I pointed out the obvious.
He mumbled something I couldn't understand.
"What was that?"
"I asked where you lived. I'll drive you home." "What about the program? I cannot miss it." I argued.
"Robin told me to drive you home. You can't serve kids right now. You get a day off according to him." Rhys revealed.
I pouted before telling him my address. I yawned as we drove. "Hey, wake me up when we get there. I'm just going to close my eyes for a bit." I didn't wait for him to respond, instead I just closed my eyes.
"Walker."
"Walker."
"Hmmm?"
"Wake up." he flicked my forehead, causing my eyes to flew open. "You look terrible when you sleep."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Shut up." I hissed as I stretched out my arms. I opened the car door before hopping out. "I appreciate what you did for me today. I owe you one, Montecillio."
