"Where are we even going?" I asked as Cole drove away from Arcturus Academy.
I was called out of the room in the middle of a class session, catching everyone's attention. It was embarrassing. Now they think I did something horrible and unforgivable.
"We need to talk." Cole said. "We can't talk in this town. We'll be leaving town for a few days."
My forehead creased as my brows furrowed. "Why?" I asked, curiously. "You know that I have classes, right? I can't miss most of them."
Cole nodded. "Yes. I know. We'll only be gone for like two days." Cole said. "You'll be fine."
I huffed. "Fine. If I fail my quizzes. It's your fault."
Cole and I drove to the city which got me suspicious. We almost never go to the city unless it's absolutely necessary, so this means we're doing something very important. I grew even more suspicious when we parked inside the parking lot of a very expensive apartment building.
"Where are we, Cole?" I asked, crossing my arms above my chest.
"At a parking lot." Cole answered as we stepped out of the car.
"Colentino Maxwell Walker, where the hell are we?" I asked, sternly.
Cole sighed. "Let's just head upstairs. Connor is probably there by now." He said before walking up to the elevator.
Cole and I made our way to wherever we will be going. I honestly don't know where we are heading until we stop in front of an apartment number 3967. Cole knocked on the door only to have Connor open the door.
"Okay. This is definitely weird. What's going on?" I repeated.
"Just get inside." Connor said, pulling me inside.
Okay. The apartment looks huge. Big windows, expensive furnishings, and a few of our family photos.
My brows furrowed as I picked up a picture frame that contains our picture, the picture we took the day Carter graduated law school.
"Calistine." He cooed, making my head snapped in his direction. "Missed me?" he smirked.
"You guys scared me!" I exclaimed. "You pulled me out of school to see our brother? Can't this wait until after school ends?" I asked, crossing my arms against my chest.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy he's back, but I cannot miss lessons from my classes. I don't wanna fall behind. If I do, it'll be more stressful than it is.
"Okay. I'm going to pretend that I didn't get hurt by that." Carter muttered. "It couldn't wait. We need a family meeting." He said in a serious tone.
"We know. That's why we're here." Connor stated. "Care to explain why?"
Cole took a deep breath. "The company is forcing me to represent a criminal, the one who was involved in the...." Cole trailed off, glancing at me.
"Please don't tell me you took the case. I will physically hurt you if you do." I said, massaging the bridge of my nose.
"Of course not, dear sister." Cole said, calmly. "I called Carter back here because we need to discuss something."
"That is?" Connor asked.
"Cole and I are planning on building our own law firm. From ground up. " Carter informed, firmly. "Cole resigned and I came back from vacation for this."
"Why do we need a family meeting for this?" I asked.
Cole faced me before he spoke. "Because our investors would like to ask if you applied to a university." Cole asked. "Most specifically the university in this city." He added.
"No. I haven't applied for college yet." I answered, my brows furrowed again. "How is this relevant to the two of you building a law firm?" I asked.
"Because they'd like to know if you would be interested in being a student there." Carter said with a smile.
My eyes sparkled as they widened in shock. "Really? They want me to be a student at Imperium University? Are you serious or are you messing with me?"
Imperium University was my dream school when I was young. The education there was great, professors were considerate and they were willing to help, the university plans a lot of activities for its students. It was perfect. I was planning on going there for college but I really don't want to leave my friends and my family.
"We aren't, Ali." Cole grinned. "They want to interview you and possibly check if you are a candidate for a scholarship."
"Oh My God! Really? They want to interview me? " I squealed. "But hold on, did you get your investors?"
"Who's your investors?" Connor asked, curiously as he leaned against the wall.
"Marcus Leeds." Carter answered. "He's an old friend." He bragged. "He's a shareholder of Imperium University." He added.
"So, Callie, are you planning on going to the interview?" Connor asked.
Do I have a plan on going? I mean, it's just an interview. There's no guarantee that I'll get into that school, but I made a promise that my friends and I will be going to the same college.
I sighed heavily. "When's the interview?"
After a few business talks, my three brothers left to buy dinner and champagne to celebrate while I was left inside of Carter's expensive apartment.
I laid on top of his bed as I texted one of my classmates to give me notes for the lessons and activities I've missed.
A notification from my phone made me groan. There were a few messages from Robin, the group chats, from Sky, and from Harry.
From Harrison :
Hey. I just heard that you left school. Is everything alright?
To Harrison:
I'm fine. I'll explain everything to you tomorrow.
It hit me.
How the hell would I explain to my friends about Imperium University? Would I accept the offer if I get in? Will my friends be angry? Disappointed? Betrayed?
But, this is my dream school. I really want to go here. It's where I always wanted to go. I mean, if I get in, they'll be proud, right? They won't feel betrayed if I entered college there?
I groaned. "Take a breath, Callie. Stay calm."
