Chapter 15 - A Favor (4)

A FAVOR (4)

While Aero was explaining about The Lord to Stalane, Syton on the other hand was now busy facing off with the Kidnapper Master.

"For a 5H rank braver, you guys are not too shabby" Gerin said as he positioned himself in a attacking stance.

Syton held his hands up, "Hey, hey! Do we really need to fight?"

"Didn't you follow me all the way down here to rescue the kids? That means that you should be ready to fight!" Gerin sniggered.

Syton scratched his cheek as he recall how things ended up like this. At first, Syton thought that he have sneakily followed Gerin. But Syton didn't knew that Gerin have actually noticed him earlier and was only leading him into a trap!

Gerin went to a hidden place that looks like a training area before asking Syton to come out. Since Syton have already been found out by Gerin, he didn't have a choice but to show up instead.

"Well, uhh... Yeah? But if we could settle this through talking, why not? Let's not complicate things, shall we? I mean, you even tricked us in asking a favor when the truth was you were the mastermind all along" Syton tried to reasoned out.

Gerin finally relaxed and stood up straight. "That is true, but this is all part of the training that The Lord sets for the bravers. By the way, where is your friend?"

"Stalane went to save Kian at your hideout. It's in the guild house, right?"

Gerin was surprised but he laughed afterwards. "You two even figured that out for a short amount of time? You guys are smart! So, how did you found out?"

Syton gave his usual shrugged then bragged, "Well, that's a piece of cake for us!"

"Well, that is true. Then that should means that both of you knows notitia already? What level are yours?" Gerin asked.

Syton was confused since he was not aware that notitia have a level system.

"Level?"

With that simple question, Gerin confirmed that Syton only have a level 1 notitia. But, what confuses Gerin is how did these two Bravers got to know about notitia.

Well, knowing notitia was part of the goal why this quest was made, but Gerin was used to have a rank 5H Bravers who was clueless about this. After all, notitia is a Lyrion spell.

"No, never mind. Well, because your friend seems to already figured out the hideout I'll deal with her later. For now, I need to fulfill the goal the The Lord have set us to do" Gerin said.

Syton have a bad feeling with this as the atmosphere became more heavier. He awkwardly laugh as he tried to calm Gerin down, "Uhh... I thought we could talk this out?"

"You see, we were tasked by The Lord to help the Bravers train. This quest was made for that sole purpose. It is also a test if you are strong enough. One is to know notitia, second is to test your wits, third is to test your strength as a Braver" Gerin explained as he brings forth a weapon into his hands.

"The Lord? Oh, I think I've heard about him when Khan taught me the basics! So who is he? Is he the reason why we can't get out of this world and why we were invited?"

Syton have so many questions but Gerin just smiled at him. Gerin started to charge towards him without even answering one of his questions.

Syton noticed Gerin's attempt to attack so Syton sidestepped to avoid him.

Syton sighed as he whispered, "Wooden sword orv. "

"After this, you better answer my questions!" Syton demanded as he pointed his sword towards Gerin.

Gerin was satisfied by Syton's confidence thus he agreed, "Sure! But that is only if you pass the criteria of my test!"

"I don't even know your criteria!" Syton argued.

"Well, just do your best!" Gerin said as he wished Syton some luck.

Syton then positioned himself. He thought that he should not hold himself back this time. He is confident with his skills but Syton have no idea about how strong this old man are.

Syton tried to formulate a strategy inside his head about what will be the best way to defeat this old man even if he might be stronger than him.

Gerin dashed towards Syton and tried to attack him using his sickle. Syton blocked Gerin's sickle with his wooden sword.

Syton noticed how Gerin grinned as if mocking him, so Syton smiled to do the same. Gerin was shocked, but he instantaneously pulled up his sickle to attack him again.

Of course, Syton jumped back to evade the attack. Syton, then concluded that he could defeat Gerin easily without making a complicated strategy after he defended himself from Gerin's sickle earlier.

Syton fixed his stance as he focused his mana to his sword. He prepared himself to do the skill that he have been practicing and honing for almost 5 months.

"Path of the pure water sword, first form. Aquafirmed slash!" Syton said.

He was now the one who charges at Gerin in full speed. His body got covered with water and the only thing that was visible was the sword. Apparently, it seems like he became one with the wave which is also the reason why he became faster.

Gerin was amazed at what he saw and haven't been able to defend himself due to his amusement. Given also the fact that Syton was moving so fast that Gerin could not even think on how he should defend.

The wooden sword slowly glowed blue as if it became water, but when you got struck by this, it is sturdy as an iron. When Syton gave a powerful slash to hit Gerin, he flew all the way back as he crashes in a wall.

Syton sighed in relief after the attack. The technique he just used was still incomplete thus he used some of his mana to cover up some of the flaw on his attack.

"Wooden sword vro" Syton whispered to return the weapon he was using to his inventory.

He puts his hands on his waist as he playfully smiled at Gerin who was stuck at a wall. "So? Did I pass?"

A minute have passed but Syton didn't hear any response from Gerin. In fact, Gerin didn't even moved a muscle!

"Hey, hey! Don't tell me you're dead?" Syton joked but Gerin didn't retorted back.

He became more worried so he put his hands down from his waist as he walk closer where Gerin is.

"Hey, I thought you're strong? Wait... no. Is this a trap?"

Syton stopped from walking as he put himself on guard, getting ready for an attack. He doubted that Gerin might be putting up an act. He even looked around as if looking for the surprise attack, but a minute have already gone and yet nothing happened.

Syton sighed as he disappointedly walk closer to Gerin. He examined the Kidnapper Master. Syton confirmed that he did passed out and it looks like Gerin is in fact in a critical condition!

"What the hell?! " Syton exclaimed.
