Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: The Mark of Revenants

Today, we won't be talking about an item, but an image, a mark to be exact. It has been dubbed as "The Mark of Revenants". It has been given to those blessed by the God of Death, Aini. Those who die a vengeful spirit gain the chance to become God's Champions, however, the chances are one in a million. Those blessed by the God of Death gain supernatural abilities, at the sacrifice of emotions, only capable of the feeling of revenge and pain. They focus only on revenge and nothing else and will do everything they have to.

These abilities can range from a wide variety, the more interesting ones that I have found out is the ability to take the abilities of other Champions of the God of Death, the ability to blend completely with shadows to become invisible, as well as the ability to travel into the minds of people. These vengeful spirits range come from various backgrounds, from kings to beggars.

But the most interesting one I have found is the first Champion, a warrior betrayed by his own men and left limbless, blind and deaf at the bottom of a pit. He was given the title of Revenant and was the one named the mark given to him. Revenant had powers that returned him his senses, as well as further boosting them. Additionally, limbs black as night were what replace the stubs he was left in, allowing him to manipulate their length, weight and shape. In his anger, he killed those who directly betrayed him however, he did not stop there. He rampaged through towns, cities and castles, now knowing that the nation he once fought for, used him as a scapegoat. No words could describe the carnage he has produced, killing millions of people. These people could have been innocent or corrupt or silenced, but under the Revenants indiscriminate genocide, every soul around him would be crushed. He was dubbed a King of Death, turning a once prosperous nation into an apocalyptic wasteland that none could live in.

Quite the shocking first, but history is never merciful. I wish to revisit this Mark of course, Ill go in deeper about this King of Death, as well as others who have been given this Mark.
