It was decided that I would stay back with Maddy tonight because Jeremy was going to take her home the next day. I wanted to be the one taking care of her that night.
Jeremy had gone out to get some food packed for us and Maddy was still asleep. It was around 6 in the evening and I too had dozed off for a bit on the couch in Maddy's room.
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing in my pocket.
I jolted up from the couch and without seeing the name on the screen I rejected the call. I didn't want Maddy to wake up from the noise.
I went outside her room and checked my phone. There were several texts from Jordan and then a call from him which I had rejected just now. I tapped on his name and put the phone to my ear.
The bell rang for 3 seconds and then he answered, "Hello."
"Hey, um, you called?" I asked.
"Yeah. Where are you?"
