Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten

"Good morning Marie," I said,

kissing her cheek. My eyes are still closed.

If I could just crawl back into bed.

"Morning darling," she smiled at me. "Have a cup of tea, sweetheart it'll wake you up properly." She placed a cup of steaming tea on the kitchen counter.

"Thank you, Marie," I said, taking a sip.

"Have some muffins to go with it." She said, placing it in front of me, then turning away to remove the rest in the oven.

"Where's everyone? didn't see them when I was coming." I asked shoving a muffin in my mouth.

"Well, they had breakfast early today, no one wanted to disturb you." She said softly, one finger on her chin, her other hand on her hips.

"Charles and Evan went to work, Xander is around here somewhere and__ oh___ Xavier is in the music."

"You are going to check out your school today, aren't you?" She continued.

"Yes," I nodded. "Xander's taking me."

"Be a darling and take this to Xavier, sweetheart." She asked.

A plate of muffins and a cup of tea in her hands and excitement in her eyes.

She was up to something.

My eyes darted towards the door.

"Um, I have to find Xander," I said, pointing my finger to the door.

She now had a frown on her lovely face.

"Oh, just take it to him, I'll help look for Xander."

"Besides he didn't have my muffins yesterday cause he was too tired after carrying you from the car to your room last night." She batted her lashes at me.

Damn, emotional blackmail, she's good. My shoulder dropped.

Bit and pieces of last night rammed into my brain.

Last night? Last—night!

Oh my God!! I sucked my breath through my teeth as everything came rushing back.

Last night, in the car. I fell asleep against Xavier, he didn't push me away rather he cocooned me in his arms. I was half-awake by the time he carried me to my room. I told him to stay, fastening my hands to his neck. I think he stayed, he must have left when my grip slacken.

Remorse flooded my cheek, I turned to notice Marie with a cheeky smile on her face.

"Ok, I take it to him," I said, fleeing the room as soon as I took it from her.

"So adorable, now where is that good—for—nothing, cheeky boy," I heard her chuckle while calling out for Xander.

Making way tenaciously through the maze of the mansion. I discovered the music room. I opened the door to find a delightful surprise.

Xander was playing the piano. My heart fluttered, I stood there staring at him in amazement. He appears to be lost in the melody.

I must have made a sound because he stopped turning back sharply to stare at me.

"Don't just stand there, come in." He said. His fingers withdrawing from the piano.

"You play the piano?" I asked. "What song?"

He arched one eyebrow up in acknowledgment.

"A theme from Beethoven moonlight sonata."

"I don't know what that is, but can you teach me basic notes. I've always wanted to learn." I explained.

"And__ oh, Marie asked me to bring this to you. I continued, flashing the goodies at him."

"Keep it on that table." He gestured toward a small table in the corner.

"So, will you teach me?" I pleaded, trying to do that thing Marie did earlier; bat my eyelashes.
