Chapter 1 - The beginning

Alexandra

"Eyes on the target" Steven said over the coms.

"Alright, all teams in position. Remember we need him alive, so don't engage only if necessary. Alright, go, go, go"

All teams pointed their guns at the house while we were awaiting any movement from inside the house. This man was not willing to surrender and I wasn't willing to let anyone die. Not on my op.

The man insisted on speaking to the person in charge if not there was not going to be anyone left breathing in the house. I had to go in. I removed my vest and let my gun down.

"Snow what are you doing?"

"Am about to go swim in the pool. What does it look like am doing" I answered and Gwen and Joe laughed.

"You can't go in there. We don't know what else he has in there"

"There are 5 people in there, two are kids. So if I need to go in there, I will. Get a tackle team in position. You all remain in your positions and wait for my command" I said and Steven nodded his head and did as told as I walked into the house.

"Alright. Mr Page, am coming in. Unarmed as you can see and as promised"

"Stop right there, don't come any closer"

"Right here?"

"Yeah, right there"

"Okay. So now can we let the hostages go. Better still let this fine family go so we can talk business"

"No, the moment I let them go, your people will shoot me"

"That's not going to happen Sir. I assure you. I'm in charge and they won't shoot unless I say so. And believe me when I do you will hear it loud and clear. So"

"I need your help"

"Hostages first"

He groans a little before telling the hostages to get up and start walking.

"Wheeler I got all 5 hostages coming out. Page is still with me. And hold fire. I repeat, hold your fire" I said as the hostages got out.

"So I hear you are one of the good cops. The none killed types"

"Almost every cop has killed but for the good reasons"

"Okay. They are coming. They are everywhere"

"Who are they? Who's coming?"

"The bad ones" he said and before I could even say another word, I saw him drop on the floor, blood every where. I rushed to hold him as he fell down.

"Mr Page is down. I think there is shooter on the building at the back. I need a team there now. Go" I said as some of the men enter the house following Steven behind as they took a sweep round the house.

"Mr Page stay with me. Stay with me"

"They... Th"

"Don't talk you are losing a lot of blood"

"They are coming" he whispered in my ears before his ands fell to the ground and he stopped breathing.

"All clear" one of them said as they came back from their sweep.

"Snow. Alex"

"Yeah. Have the medics come take the body. I need the ME's report on that body and have ballistics determine what bullet was used. And I need a forensic team up here. Bag anything and everything screaming evidence"

"Okay. You heard the lady, move it people" Joe said as we left the house.

"You good?" Gwen asked.

"Yeah" I said as we entered the car then drove off, heading to the office.

~~~~~~~~
"Cheers" we echoed as our glasses clicked.
"I would be a bad liar if I said that today was one hell of a day" Steven said
"Damn straight"
"But you seemed to be having a good day as Corbin kept raining praises on you in front of the while department" Joe said.
"That was nothing. It was just Corbin gloating cause his department caught a drug dealer that his friends couldn't get even after years of investigation. He is just showing off" I said and they all laughed.
"Now that is something we can all agree on" Joe said
"But really Corbin has got to step down on the pride pills" Gwen said and we laughed.
"Future impossible tense" Joe said then whistled. "Check that out" he said
"Sorry can't do, am into dudes" Gwen said
"I think I fit that category" Joe said
"And I think she meant men, not boys" Steven said causing Joe to turn to him.
"Okay guys, I got to go. Am getting a bit tired. Let it go buddy" I told Joe.
"Whatever. I still have my eyes on a better price" he said then turned his head back to the girls direction only to see her kissing another girl.
"What was it you said earlier… right. Future impossible tense" I said as I stood up to leave placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Night guys"
"Night" they chorused and I walked out of the bar.
These were my best guys and the best of people I have worked with in the force. They reliable and trust worthy agents I know. We would always come to Kenny's bar after any job to drink to our success. And when it was a failure, well we looked for something to do. I mean it's not everyday that is "avoid" day at the office, but.....
But I got brought out of my thoughts by the sounds I heard behind me. I took a few steps forward before slowly turning around to catch the son of a bitch following me, if there was any.
I turned back and as always, I saw no one. Looked to my left and right and everything was looking normal. I kept walking and I still felt there was someone following me.
If there is anything I hate is being followed. And this person following me was pissing on the wrong tree. I looked down to see if I could see the persons shadow to be able to have a clue of who was following me. From the shadow, it was definitely a male around his mid 40's. He was putting on a jacket, probably a leather jacket.
The way his left leg came forward more and his left hand took implied that he was left handed just like me. And I knew where to strike. He also looked like he had a few muscles, so I decided to aim for the legs, they had less muscles than the arms and stomach.
When I was getting close to my house, I began to increase my footsteps. I already had my keys in my hand, ready to hit the man behind me immediately I opened my door so I could lock him out. But immediately I opened the door he caught my hand and held it before I could hit him.
Shit!
He pushed me in and locked the door as I stood up then used my foot to slam his face on the door. He caught my leg and threw me back, fortunately I was able to land with my feet though a little bit unstable.
Maybe more than a little bit.
He came closer and lifted me up and hit me in the stomach and I grunted. He used his elbow to hit my back. Ouch. After that I punched him back and we began to block each other's punches. This guys blocked all my kicks and punches I threw his way. He anticipated all my moves. It was like...
Like he knew me.
Who the hell is this dude. Now am really getting pissed. We have not really hit each other enough to bleed, not even a bruise or a drop of blood. He was being careful. But the game was about to change, it was about to become bloody.
He might have seen the rest coming but not this one. He pulled me up by my hair and then I jabbed his side and I didn't give him enough time to grunt as I grabbed both hands and bent it, pressing them against his back. He tried to struggle but I used my leg to kick the back of his knee and he fell to a kneeling posture. He used one leg to push me back and I fell on the floor. As he came close, I put my legs up, grabbing his neck and pulling him down to me then we rolled close to my dining table. As we settled, I pulled out his precious left hand like I was about to rip it off, then brought out my gun from under my table, at the same time using my hand to hit the light switch I have under my table while I held him down with my legs.
Am feeling for that arm. But its owner brought it on him.
"You got ten seconds to say your last words asshole!" I said as the light came on, then I froze.
"Hey there sweetie" he said
"Dad?"
