Earlier...
Mandy stood outside Chris's apartment. She checked her phone. There were six missed calls from Olivia. She was going over her purse.
"How could I forget a mirror?" She muttered
There was a car parked opposite the gate. She strolled over to it and glanced at herself from the side mirror.
She noticed the side mirror casing was half broken. It was peculiar to her since, the rest of the car was in tip top shape. She checked the plates of the car.
"Damn! This car is old! Look good though."
After she was satisfied she walked into the apartment compound.
Just as she was about to put her phone away, it rang. She answered immediately
"Hey Olivia... Has Chris arrived? OK I'm running a bit late but I'll make it. Please don't let him leave before I get there. Ok... See you later"
Now she was free to snoop all she wanted. She did not know what she would be looking for. She would know when she found it.
Whatever it was, it was supposed to be a deal breaker for Shea. She was just about to go in when something stopped her.
She took out her phone and called Mathew.
"Hey. Listen. If you don't hear from me in a few hours call the police." She demanded
"What! Why? What's going on?" Mathew was genuinely concerned and confused.
"I've seen a lot of movies Matt. Just call the police if you don't hear from me in three hours. I'm going to Imperial Apartments. Promise me."
Mathew promised and Mandy walked up to the fifth floor. She was nervous. On her way up she repeated the plates of the car she saw in order to settle her mind.
Just like that, the plates were in her head. She reached into her purse and removed pins.
She was about to attempt lock picking. Her whole plan weighed on this key step which she completely left to chance since she had never done it before.
Before she tried picking the lock, She turned the knob just to check. The door screeched open. She took a step in then paused.
She looked around in disbelief,"It can't be this easy, can it?"
She pushed back that feeling and continued on. He closed the door behind her.
She had not realised that she had accidentally locked the door.
She switched on the lights after realising she didn't bring a torch. She sighed at her own unpreparedness.
She walked into the living room. She looked around.
There were no picture frames, no paintings, nothing that made it look like a home.
She was really disappointed. There was nothing much.
She decided to go to the bedroom. Maybe she'd find something juicy there.
She turned slowly, still taking in the whole outlook of the apartment.
Meanwhile
Jack was in the hallway. He was panicking. He kept thinking and thinking. The unconscious man on the floor would wake up any time.
He looked into the living room, Mandy was headed his way.
Jack quickly crept back to his room. He closed the door slowly behind him.
Why was Mandy here? Wasn't she supposed to be meeting Chris?
Jack suddenly had an idea. Not a good one but it was all he could think of.
Mandy was in the hallway. She saw a room to her left.
"This has to be the bedroom!" She said to herself as she turned the knob.
Meanwhile. Little Chef Restaurant
At this point they had forgotten about Mandy. Chris was really entertaining them with stories from the hood.
Chris told them about being an orphan. He told them about his struggles. He made them seem as though they were fun. Not sad at all.
"What about dating? I know you've dated before." Asked Olivia
Chris smiled," Many times than I can remember."
"So what happened? Were you the problem? Or were you just looking for flings."
Shea's eyes widened at that question. She wanted to say something but she held herself. She saw that Chris wasn't fazed by the question.
"They were flings at first. But as I went on I started to look for something serious. But you never really get the right one you know?"
Shea looked over at Olivia. Shea gave her the face, instructing her to ask more questions. Olivia was out.
She had been asking questions all night.
Meanwhile. Chris's Apartment.
Mandy was in the bedroom. The bed was well made. Like the living room, there were not as many portraits or pictures.
She Bagan opening the drawers. She was determined to look for something. She opens the bottom drawer and found a picture.
Jack had thought of a plan. He snuck out of his room and passed Mandy, who was in Chris's room.
Jack tried the door but it wouldn't budge. It was locked. Then he got an idea. He quickly crept back to his room.
Mandy looked at the picture. Did she find the smoking gun she needed to raise the red flag at Shea concerning Chris?
She walked out of the room. She snuck the picture in her pocket. She noticed another room.
Jack called Chris.
Little Chef Restaurant
Chris was on the phone. Shea and Olivia whispered in the background.
Chris walked up to them in urgency.
"What is it?" Shea's asked, noticing his facial expression.
"My roommate just called. There is a burglar at our apartment. I have to go."
"Oh really. I'm-" Chris was already gone. Shea looked back at Olivia.
"I wonder what happened to Mandy!"
Chris's Apartment
Mandy grabbed the knob. He turned the knob. Just then-
"Chris is that you?" A voice from inside the room yelled.
Mandy was frozen. Her hand still on the doorknob.
"Chris? What are you doing out there?"
Mandy let go of the knob and took a few steps back.
There was someone in here the whole time?
"I'm calling the police!" the voice declared.
Mandy had had enough. She turned quickly and made for the exit. The fiddled with the door but it was locked.
She tried the windows near the door. They were fitted with grills. She couldn't squeezed through them.
She was trapped...
Mathew's House
Mathew had set an alarm for an hour instead of the three Mandy had told him.
He wasn't planning on calling the police. Not yet at least. She was going to Imperial Apartments to assist Mandy with whatever he could.
Imperial Apartments
He had just arrived at the apartments. Right then he received a call from Mandy. He answered with a relieved sigh.
"Matt I'm trapped in the house. I need you to come help me. Fifth floor!"
Matt rushed for the stairs. He went over them with no hassle. In took a toll on him later when the adrenaline wore off.
"Mandy?" Matt whispered through the window.
Mandy peeped to see Mathew outside. He was really happy to see him. Just then she got a message.
Chris just left.
Something About
A burglar in his home.
He's a good guy.
The message was from Olivia. Chris was coming back home.
Jack just wanted it to be known that Mandy broke into Chris's house.
He assumed Mandy was looking for something to turn Shea against Chris. He didn't know why though.
Did Shea send her? It could have been an elaborate plan to get Chris out of the house.
Jack was sure it had failed though. She would've never found anything on them. It was not their first rodeo.
The only thing that Mandy could've found which would cause complications was himself.
There was no record of Chris having a twin. Furthermore should it be known that Chris was hiding his twin, there would be a lot of red flags and raised eyebrows.
Mandy squeezed her handbag through the grill.
"You have to pick the lock from outside." Mandy whispered to him.
Mathew damaged through the bag and fished out two pins. He looked back at Mandy.
"I don't know how to pick a lock." Mathew frantically admitted.
"I'll talk you through it just be quick."
So Mandy began whispering instruction to Mathew. Mathew was trying to work with precision and haste.
Jack had almost forgotten about Elvis. Jack looked on as Mandy was talking Mathew through picking the lock.
It was not until he had a groaning than he remembered. He turned around to see Elvis on his feet.
Elvis was ready for round two. Jack wasn't sure it was the perfect time. He needed to keep Elvis contained.
Elvis charged at him.
Chris was outside the apartment. Hidden somewhere watching Mathew pick the lock. He didn't know who he was then.
He was wondering how long it would take. If it were him in the situation, he would have picked the lock ages ago.
He started hearing sounds coming from inside. Thuds and bangs. He saw Mathew work with more haste. He wondered what was happening in the apartment.
Mathew had done in. The door swung open and Mandy pounced on him. They heard the sound of breaking glass.
Mathew held on to Mandy's hand try rushed down the stairs. Chris came out of the shadows.
He walked up to the door grabbed the handbag which was left on the floor and went in.
He switched on the lights. The image of a middle-aged man pressing a piece of broken glass on Jack's chest caught him by surprise.
Elvis looked up in astonishment.
"Interesting."
Jack capitalised and knocked the piece of glass away. He head-butted Elvis.
Elvis took some steps back. Chris hit him on the back of the head. Elvis was out.
Jack coughed a bit then looked at Chris holding a handbag.
"I take it the date went well."
Mandy's House. Later
Mathew was still holding Mandy in his arms.
"Thank you for coming for me!" Mandy said.
"I will always be there for you!" Mathew replied.
Mandy let go of Mathew. Mathew did the same. Mandy looked around.
"I think I left my handbag back there."
Mandy laughed a bit then stopped and looked all sad.
" I will be Ok now. Get some rest." Mathew got up. He was on his way out when Mandy stopped him.
"Matt. I don't want to be alone tonight." She said with a soft fearful voice.
Mathew sat at the chair just next to her bed.
"You won't be!"
Mandy felt through her pocket. There was something there. She reached for it,she pulled out a picture.
The one she took from Chris's apartment.
It was a picture of a younger Chris (she assumed) and another bigger one with the tattoo of a wolf. They were in jail uniform.
