Olivia's House. Morning
Mathew had chosen to pay Olivia a visit. Olivia was quite surprised at the impromptu meeting.
"Could there be people who were jailed under different names?" Asked Mathew
Olivia had never heard of an instance. People are usually jailed under their names as they appear in the birth certificate.
"So he could be using a different name now since he is out of prison?" Another question by Mathew.
Olivia thought so. People usually don't like it to be known that they are ex convicts. There are many stereotypes which they try to avoid.
Therefore changing a name is typical. Olivia felt that it was more practical than hypothetical.
"Who are we talking about?" She asked with a raised eyebrows
"What! No one. We were talking in hypothesis." Mathew felt trapped. He had a trick left." Who were you talking about?"
Classic redirect question. Known to steer away any interrogation. Unfortunately Olivia was a lawyer. She knew the game.
"We were talking in hypothesis but you referred to the hypothetical person as 'he' several times." Mathew was frozen
"Everyone uses 'he' to refer to general people. When you here a story about a thief you ask, What did 'he' do? I was just using a generic term."
Olivia put it off. She didn't really want to delve into much about Mathew. They weren't there yet.
"I'll send you a picture later. I will need you to find out anything about the people on it."
Olivia nodded.
Shea's House. Night
The night was quiet. The full moon shone its light on the ground. It looked wonderful. The slow wind made the night perfect.
Chris had never been to Shea's house. Mansion rather. Shea led him into her bedroom.
It was a longer distance than he thought. He wondered if Shea was sometimes too sleepy to trek to her room. She would just sleep in the other rooms.
There were a dozen to choose from.
Shea kissed Chris intensely. Chris put his arms around her and kissed her with passion.
Shea took of her blouse. Chris took off his shirt. Then unbuckled his belt and dropped his trouser.
Shea took off her short. Chris admired her beautiful body. He put his arms around her waist and locked lips.
Shea pushed Chris on the bed. She climbed on top of him and unbuckled her bra. She grabbed Chris's hands and placed them on her breasts.
Chris felt them in his hands. They were both overcome with passion. They couldn't stop. They didn't want to stop.
Chris turned her over and was now on top. He slid down his underpants while Shea did the same.
They didn't need to speak. The moaning and the sense of pleasure was enough.
Mandy's House
Mandy sat down on her sofa. It had been long since she watched some television. She was alone that night.
She kept changing the channel. Not actually sure what she wanted to watch. She was feeling lonely.
Not because she was alone, but because she felt alone. She remembered early that morning when she took Mathew to the airport.
Mathew had abruptly told her he was going to see a friend in Kamiti. Mandy didn't know the reason for the sudden trip but she could only assume it was because of Shea.
She had been silent the whole trip to the airport.
"Mandy! I'm sorry it's so abrupt but I have to do this." Said Mathew
Mandy looked at him for a second," Why? What are you going to do there?"
"I'm going to try and find out who Chris really is."
"What if Chris is just a normal guy with a troubled past? Your investigation into him may do more harm than good to Shea." Defended Mandy
"But she would know the truth, isn't that more important?" Mathew raised his voice
"It's not your truth to tell!"
"What if this guy is a murderer or a thief? Shea would be grateful that I saved her from making a mistake." Said Mathew
They had arrived at the airport. Mandy quietly and carefully parked the car.
"So that's what all this is about. For you to be the hero in Shea's eyes? There are two ways this could turn out if you find what you're looking for."
"Yeah? Tell me!"
"Either Shea hates you for destroying a really good relationship..." Mathew rolled his eyes and sighed. Mandy continued
"Or she is grateful and secluded herself from the option of love again! There is no scenario where you end up with her if you take this route."
"I care for no one but Shea. I love her, Mandy."
Mathew opened the door and exited. He opened the backdoor and removed his suitcase.
He bent over the window,"I'll be back after two weeks, bye."
Mandy dropped her head on the steering wheel. She looked as Mathew dragged his suitcase into the airport.
Mandy brought herself back. She thought of Shea. She thought of how she met Chris.
She said she hit him with a car and he used that to extort a date from her. Now they were happy together.
She wonder why she hadn't met someone yet. She thought of going out that night and drive carelessly in order to hit someone. Maybe her loneliness would be solved.
She turned off the TV. She reached for her phone and checked her messages. There were numerous texts from random guys that she ignored for a long time.
She deleted the messages,"I'm not that desperate."
She opened Play Store and searched for a dating app. With the power of fast internet she downloaded and signed up in no time.
She called herself Mandalorian Queen. She then posed for a selfie.
"Maybe I'll meet someone good for me," she said to herself.
Airplane
Mathew reclined his seat. He thought of the conversation with Mandy. He then thought of the root of his decision.
Mathew was just about to leave when Shea walked in. She looked so happy and radiant.
Even Mathew could noticed.
"Hey you look happier than usual today."
"It's a good day. I wasn't expecting to see you here!"she remarked.
"I needed something from Olivia but I'm leaving so don't worry. Have a better remaining part of the day."
"You too."
Mathew walked out. Olivia beckoned Shea into the kitchen.
"Hey what's up?"
Shea didn't speak. She just smiled at Olivia. Olivia didn't know what was happening.
"Last night was great!" Shea remarked
Olivia's eyes widened in astonishment.
"You did it. You slept with Chris!" The two laughed. Shea was ecstatic. Olivia was happy for her.
Mathew couldn't help but overhear. He froze in the living room. He had a question he had forgotten to ask. Now he wished he didn't come back.
He turned away slowly and made his exit. His blood boiled. How was he to move from friend to lover if Chris was already at that stage?
Was he supposed to provide unconditional friendship to her, hoping for things to go wrong with Chris so that he could swoop in?
He couldn't wait that long. He needed to get Chris out of the picture.
The only way he could think of how, was by first finding out who Chris really is. Or rather who he was!
Mandy's House
Mandy had just gotten outside her house. She felt a shadow looming around. She breath slowly then she turned quickly to see Chris.
She was relieved to see it was just Chris. Then she remembered she broke into his home, and he knew it was her.
She began feeling unsafe again. She tried to act normal.
"Hi. Can I help you?" She asked
"Hi. Yes. You took something of mine. I didn't quite realise it sooner but I did. Now I want it back."
" I don't know what you are talking about?"
"Let's not play games Mandy. The photo you took from my room. I don't even know why you took it, but I need it back." Chris said while slowly moving closer
Mandy tried to take some steps back but she felt paralyzed.
"I don't have it with me but I can get it for you later." Said Mandy
" What's wrong with right now? We are both free at this time."
"I don't have it but I'll get it for you. I promise."
Chris smiled. He didn't want to seem threatening. She was Shea's friend after all. He nodded and went away.
Mandy took in a deep breath,"Why didn't you tell anyone what I did?"
"Why didn't you?" He said while walking away.
Happy Harbour
Jack had arrived in the town. He had texted Elvis's employer using Elvis's phone to set up a meet.
Jack was in Elvis's car at an old shipping yard near Elvis's office. Jack had been waiting for the employer for some time.
In his hand was the locket he took from Elvis. He had been to Elvis's office earlier where he saw a photo of Elvis and his son.
A car drove up some distance away. He put the necklace in his pocket.
He popped the collar of his jacket and got out of the car. He walked to the black SUV. Black SUVs indicated bad men.
Jack had his right hand on his gun. He stopped halfway between the two cars. The doors swinged open.
Two men holding rifles got out. They aimed at him. Jack reacted, drawing out his weapon.
He pointed at them. He looked behind to discover two more. He began to panic. It was a trap!
"Shit!"
