Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Last day of summer

This is it, our last day of summer and I'm spending it waiting tables at Yin and Yang diner. My mom owns the plays along with her best friend, Barbara. Who just happens to be the mother of my best friend, Rebecca. We regularly help our parents out, here at the diner.

I was busy doodling on my notepad behind the counter, when an apron hit me in the face.

"Come on already. They're lighten the bonfire at 6 and we have to be their !" Rebecca said.

A bunch of rich kids decided it would be fun to throw a massive party in the woods as a last resort of making this summer a memorable one.

"Just hang on for a few more seconds. I'm still waiting on my table to finish up." I said pointing at the table that looks like it got invaded by football players.

They must be new in town though, or maybe even just tourists. We don't get much new comers, only the tourists that come passing through for the hiking trails. We live in Fell Grove, which has a close nit community.

"I just have to see if they want anything else and give them the check, then we can go." I said winking at Rebecca.

I grabbed my notepad and a pen form the counter and walked over to table number 55, where the guys were seated.

"Can I get you guys anything else ?" I asked.

The dark hair guy, who seems to be the "suffer in silence" type with people other then his friends, "Just the check."

"Sure..." I can't figure out if he's rude, or if he just is this bland all the time.

I started cleaning off the tables dishes and placing them on a tray. There are four guys, so I had quite a lot to carry. I accidentally dropped a glass, not knowing that it was wet.

"Shit..."

The guy who I thought would be the last one to help me went down on his knees next to me and started helping me clean up the glass shards.

"You good?"

"Yeah thanks" Wow, his eyes are legit a golden brown. Almost unnatural, but beautiful either way.

I placed the pieces of glass on the cloth I use to wipe off the table so I don't have to go back and get the dust pan. I accidentally touched his hand when we were both going for the last piece of glass...

Darkness...trees...I was running...running from who? Or from what? I can hear screams of a woman as I fall over a tree's root. I look around and see a...beast or some kind of creature. There is blood everywhere...pain...slashing...fear...

"Are you okay ?" The guys asked.

"Sorry, what ?" His voice must have snapped me back to reality.

"Your eyes, they were grey. Completely grey." He said staring at me.

"Um, excuse me." I stood up and sped walked back to Rebecca, who was clearly waiting for an explanation of what just happened.

"I thought you had this under control Alice ?" She asked me.

"I do. Please finish the table, I need a minute."

I walked into the staff room, where I quickly changed into my Green Day shirt and ripped jeans. I tied my shoes and went straight for the sink to wash my face with cool water. As soon as I opened my eyes Rebecca was standing behind me.

"Holy shit, Rebecca."

"Mind telling what you saw ?"

"I don't know what I saw. All I know is that it wasn't your normal prediction or vision. This was something different."

"We should tell Elain."

"We are not telling my mother, not before the bonfire. We can deal with this tomorrow."

"Fine, get your shit. Pam's already outside waiting. And don't worry, your mystery man already hit the road."

"Thanks Becca."

I dug me car keys out of my bag, since I'm playing Uber today. I greeted my mom and aunt Barbara before making my way through the doors and out to the parking lot.

"Hey, Alice. I here you had am encounter with a mysterious handsome fellow." Pamela said.

"Hi Pam, my day was awesome thanks and who even still says fellow ?"

Something caught my eye and when I looked over, it was a silver Range Rover that flashed a sun beam in my face. And to my surprise, the group of guys who I was waitering before stood next to it. One of them was busy smoking and I guess that's what they were waiting for. The dark hair, golden eye one sitting in the drivers seat. And he was looking right at me, along with the guy standing by his door.

"I thought you said they left." I asked Rebecca.

"Sorry, I thought they did. Whatever you saw really scared you, didn't it ?"

"Whatever, lets just get out of here."

I got into my Impala that I inherited from my grandfather and drove off into the road as fast as I could.

We made our way to Pamela's house. We like hanging out here, because she lives here with her older sister, who is always at the station. She just happens to be a police officer and knows the sheriff very well. To be exact, they are dating.

"Hey, is Rory home ?" Rebecca asked.

"No, she went out for dinner with Steve."

We walked into Pamela's room and started figuring out what we were going to wear to the bonfire fiasco.

"Mind if I go take a shower ?" I asked her.

"You know I don't mind. You know where everything is." She waved off in the direction of her bathroom

I closed the door and stared at myself in the mirror for a second. You could still see a glimpse of grey over my eyes. That's what happens when I see something, like a vision or a premonition. Some of the people in our coven are blessed with gifts. I just happen to have the Vision.

I rubbed my eyes in one last attempt of getting rid of the grey color, before jumping into the warm water and rinsing off my body.

I dried my hair as I walked back into the room to see Rebecca and Pamela already doing make up. I started putting on the clothes I picked out about a week ago, a black camisole with red flowers and a lace trim, ripped jeans and my healed combat boots. I was not about to walk through the woods in my white sneakers.

I let my hair airdry, it makes my hair curl in the most gorgeous and effortless way. I didn't have to do anything else but just let my brown hair fall down my shoulders. I decided on doing a smoky eye, mascara, winged liner and a brick colored lip. I hate doing foundation so I just skip it all together.

"You done yet ?" I looked over my shoulder to see both of my friends waiting on me.

"Yeah, I'm good. We can go."

We grabbed the last of our things, phones, purses and jackets. We got into the car, but I took the roof top off. I love driving at night with the top off. We got to the other side of town where you never find cops and just a lot of tree's. I parked my car right next to a red Hummer. I started feeling uneasy about the woods, thinking back to the vision I had earlier today.

"Alice, you're good, right ?" Pamela asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Let's go."

We walked further to the location that was given to us and you could hear the music faintly echoing through the tree's. I could see that Rebecca was struggling to walk with her pumps, which made me feel better about my choice of chunky heeled shoes.

We were right on time for the lighting of the bonfire, with an already drunk girl giving a speech. I couldn't make out who it was, it was already pretty dark out.

"This is our last year of school, then it's off to college !" The girl yelled with a bunch of people cheering with excitement with her.

"...so everyone get a drink in your hands and let's toast to our last day of summer !"

I didn't even realize Pamela was gone until she reappeared with glasses in her hands. She perfectly balanced all three of them in her hands and gave us each one that was filled with alcohol.

"Pam, thanks, but I'm driving remember ?"

"Oh, come on. You'll be sober before we have to get out of here." Rebecca said.

I looked at the glass hesitantly for a few more seconds.

"Alice, you are an excellent driver. Just have a drink and I promise I will sober you up before we have to leave. It's only quarter to seven and this thing shuts down at two tomorrow morning." Rebecca said.

"Screw it, it's our last night of freedom, right ?"

"Yeah !" Pamela cheered as I took a sip of my drink.
