Chereads / Under The Blossom Trees / Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Faith

There were 4 friends in total. Noah, James, a short brown haired girl, and a tall blond-haired boy, whom I could guess was an athlete. Noah gestured towards the brown-haired girl.

"This is Penny," he said, "and this is Brandon," he gestured towards the tall blond-haired kid. I looked at Penny and immediately felt a twinge of jealousy. Where did that come from? I thought to myself. Brandon moved forward to hug me, but I didn't trust him as much as I trusted Noah or even James. I took his hand and twisted my body so that banged into the wall. He groaned and got back up, but kept his distance. Penny whimpered and hid behind James.

Noah cleared his throat and said, "Ok. People, this is Faith. She was born on July 22, 1949, and is 15 years old. She was unconscious under a blossom tree so we brought her here. Any questions?" They simply just gaped at him. One part of his speech stood out to me. She was unconscious under a blossom tree so we brought her here. A blossom tree. Mother. I tried to hold in my sob, but I couldn't. Noah turned around and immediately was by my side.

"What's wrong?" he asked, holding my shoulders.

"You found me by a blossom tree?" I asked, softly.

"Yes, but what's upsetting you about that?" He asked. I shook his hands off me and walked away, turning my back on everyone. I looked over my shoulder, eyeing Noah.

"Bring me to the blossom tree you found me under," I said. He nodded, took his coat (if that even was a coat), and walked outside. It was quiet the whole way. Finally, we reached the blossom tree. I knelt down softly and touched the gravestones of my family. They were still here. I couldn't help but choke out a sob. I still wasn't over it. I was still thinking about it. And my heart? Oh, god. My heart was breaking even more, let alone mending. I continued to sob until I saw Noah look the other way.

"What's wrong, Noah?" I croaked, wiping my tears. I tried to look at his face but he was too far to the side.

"I don't know, Faith," Noah said. He turned to look at me and I gasped. His eyes were red and puffy.

"What happened?" I asked. He shook his head and started to laugh.

"It's weird. Whenever you cry, my chest just starts knotting. It's as if I want to cry too. I don't know why," Noah said sincerely. I looked away, deep in thought. He cries because I cry? Suddenly I had a flashback:

"Don't cry, sis! Or else I'll cry!" he whined. I smiled and hugged him. "It's ok, baby bro, I won't cry," He smiled and hugged me back. Then he got up, touched me, and yelled, "tag!" I laughed and ran around, chasing him. Then, I caught him and lifted him up on my shoulders. "Superman!" he yelled. I ran across the field making noises. He laughed and we went back home so Mother could make us pancakes.

It was suddenly hard to breathe. I tried gasping for air, but my lungs were empty. Noah saw me, and his eyes widened. He called the other friends for help, but I couldn't hear him properly. Then, blackness.

It was a black room. In the middle, there was a cage. I gasped in horror. There was a cage full of humans. Almost as if they were, zombies? I shook my head. That couldn't be possible, I told myself firmly. Ahh, if it isn't Faith, A voice said.

"Where are you? Show yourself!" I yelled, my voice full of fear. Oh, but that is impossible, The voice said. This will be quick if you listen to me. Step in front of the cage.

"You mean in front of those zombies?" I whispered. I've never been so frightened in my life. No, not zombies. Oh, you silly humans. These are vélmenni. Robots. Dangerous robots. My legs shook. Why me? I walked towards the cage and stood in front of it. You will die, Faith. I will kill you, just like I did to your family. I gasped in horror.

"You monster! You ruined my life!" I cried. Oh, but I did for a reason. You must die, Faith. I brought you to the future for a reason. It will be easier to attack you at any second. Tears sat at the edge of my eyes.

"Why do you want to kill me?" I whispered, my voice cracking. Why? Oh, that's an easy one. Someone killed my master, and you were born in replace of him. So, if I kill you, I will get my master back. See? Easy peasy.

"Not if I kill you first," I said, feeling more confident. Suddenly I felt hot air. Almost as hot as fire. I heard the voice growl out of anger. BORDADU HAETTULEGAR VÉLMENNI HENNAR! The voice roared. I was confused until the cage of vélmenni opened. I screamed and ran in the opposite direction. Suddenly, I fell off what looked like a cliff. Then I screamed. I screamed the sadness of my family, the anger of the voice, and the disappointment of how I couldn't stay strong. I just screamed and screamed.
