Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Noah

She just kept screaming. And not a regular, high pitched scream. This was a heartbroken, blood-curdling scream. I yelled to my friends to go get some Tylenol and I tried to wake her up. She wouldn't wake up. She would just scream. Tears stung my eyes. Why was I crying? Maybe because you love her and you can't stand to see her get hurt, my inner voice said. My mind was so jumbled up, I didn't have time to think. I tried everything. I tried putting cucumbers on her eyes, shaking her awake, soothing her. Nothing worked. How do you wake a girl up? But this wasn't any girl. This was the girl who flipped me when I first met her. This was the girl who made my stomach flip every time I saw her. This was the girl who… Oh, just shush! We get it! You love her! My inner voice said. I did?

Suddenly, she stopped screaming and went limp. I shook her, but she wouldn't wake up.

"Faith? Faith! FAITH! FAITH, WAKE UP!!!" I shook her desperately. Her eyes snapped open and she immediately fell into my arms, crying. I held her tightly while Penny, Brandon, and James stood in front of us, awkwardly. "Faith, what happened?" I asked when she pulled away.

"I… he… we…," she stuttered. "I don't want to talk about it," she stated simply. I eyed her suspiciously, but let her go get water. When she drank it, her eyes expanded. Before we knew it, she drank 3 glasses of water.

"How does it taste so good? It's fizzing in my mouth!" she exclaimed. Fizzing in her mouth? I ran over and checked the label. Oh, god.

"Um, Faith? This is lemon-flavored Sprite," I explained. She looked confused. I sighed. "It's a soda. Do you know what that is?" I asked. She shook her head. I went to the fridge and showed her Coke, Pepsi, lemon Sprite, and even my favorite, Fanta orange soda.

"These are sodas. Taste however many you want," I said. By the end, she wouldn't get up from the couch. She kept complaining about her stomach and kept burping. She didn't care though, unlike half the girls at school. They would go crazy if they did a tiny hiccup. I said goodbye to everyone, even James, and went back inside.

"Aren't you going to leave too?" Faith asked. I laughed.

"No, you're in my house," I said. Her face went red and she hid under the blanket. Go ask her what happened! my inner voice shouted. Here goes nothing.

"Uh, Faith?" I asked, nervously.

"Yeah?" she replied. She looked up from the blanket.

"What happened before? Like, you know, when you were unconscious, and then you started screaming…" I trailed off. Her face went pale. Her forest green eyes darkened. She took a deep breath and told me everything.
