After Aace and the Knight's Company took out Victor's men in Rodnest, they went to the city of Sillsing. On the gates of the city was a commemorative inscription that read:
"This city is to be forever know as the birthplace of The Man of Hope, Titus, also know as the Great Resolver and Regent of Graiigreald. He lead the battle against King Cromwell and defeated him with the help of King Mao, King Washington, and King Bonaparte. Those kings would turn on him later, King Bonaparte being the one who killed him. Since then, Sillsing has not recognized another king, nor will it unless they possess the Wolf Sword."
Once they entered the city, many of the elders stood in awe of the Company, especially Aace. Then, a woman about his age, named Elinar, came to him and said, "It is honor to meet you, Unifier."
"I don't have any titles, but thank you for being so kind," Aace responded.
"Maybe you don't have a title yet, but the Prophesy of Titus says that the one who wields the wolf sword is the Unifer. I believe that you will get your title soon enough."
Aace then spent more time with her, having the Company return to Sillsing as often as they could. They would marry at twenty-five and have a child soon after, which they named Slade.
After Aace and the Company left Sillsing, they had to take care of a skirmish in Academy. Throughout their dealings, Aace had become very popular among the people, some even calling for him to overthrow King Failer.
When they reached Academy, the situation was worse than they expected. A group of man came rushing towards them, knocking Sir Peter out. Aace stepped up to take command to capture the city.
"Alright Sir Leo, Sir Daniel, and Sir Christopher, you three will attack from the front gate on my signal. Sir Henry, Sir Simon, Sir Nicholas, and Sir Steven, follow me to the back."
The men did not argue, they obeyed Aace's orders. The four man group snuck around and infiltrated the northern part of the city. They cut through the savages from Victor's army like butter then gave the signal for the other three. They came crashing through the front gate and destroyed the remainder of Victor's army.
Sir Peter had awoken just before Aace gave his orders and decided to let him take charge. The people rallied around the Company, shouting praise and honor to them. Sir Peter then entered the city and proclaimed to the company: "Sir Aace is the truest knight we have. Because of that, I dare name him Lord Knight."
The other knights did not hesitate to do the same. The people who were gathered around chanted "Lord Knight! Lord Knight! Lord Knight!" until the Company calmed them down. Aace was the people's hero. He had their support.
King Failer got news of the Company's success at Academy, and at how they took to Aace. His feelling was coming true. He knew that if he did not kill Aace soon then he would lose his power. Fearing the people may revolt against him, he sent a message to the Company to go to The City of the Dead; it was a suicide mission he hoped would kill them, squandering any possibility of Aace challenging him for the Kingdom.
