Chapter 9 - The Strange Feeling

ORION

It's my second day in the human realm and I still find some things strange and unbelievable. Thanks to Ari, I'm adjusting to their ways of life. She's been so nice to me. She has taught me a lot within these two days. She has also agreed to help me get a job soon. She wouldn't let me get a job myself. She says she doesn't want me to get lost or so. I sit down on the couch, watching a movie. Ari is in her room, getting some documents ready. It's just a few minutes past 9 a.m.

I rest my back on the couch, munching on my popcorn. I can hear sounds from behind, I decided to turn, only to see Ari walking down the stairs. She smiles at me and I smile back. She sits down opposite me. "Hope you're enjoying yourself?"

I nod. "All thanks to you". She smiles. "You're done with work?" She nods. The room becomes silent for a while. Her phone rings and she stands up to answer it. She comes back, looking worried. "Is everything okay?"

She chuckles. "Ori?" she sat down beside me. "There's a little problem" I stare at her. Hope her dad doesn't want me out of the house. However, she told me her dad was out of town and wouldn't bother about me staying with her. I still feel insecure. She chuckles. "Lora is coming over"

I furrow my brows. "Lora? Who's Lora?"

She giggles. "How soon have you forgotten about her?" I roll my eyes. "Elora the red hair girl"

I groan. What is she coming here for? "She is her sister remember?" My subconscious mind says. I roll my eyes. "Is she coming to live here?" I ask

She chuckles. "Nah. She won't even accept. She will only be here for a week or so" I roll my eyes. "Her coming isn't the problem. I don't know if you both will be able to cope with each other. Since I'll be resuming back to work tomorrow"

I roll my eyes. "I think we will. For as long as we maintain our boundaries"

She sighs. "I hope she does. Lora isn't the type that keeps rules. She breaks them". I groan. "I was thinking you might want to stay in the other apartment. There, you won't have to put up with her"

I sigh. I wish I could but I need to stay close to her, so I can learn a lot about humans. "I will try to cope with her"

"You don't want to stay in the other apartment?" I shake my head in a negative direction. She sighs. "Are you sure?"

"Like I have a choice" I murmured. "Yeah. I'm sure I can cope with her"

She smiles. "If you say that" she stands up. "I'll be in the kitchen, just in case you need anything. I need to go prepare something for her"

**

The aroma from the kitchen draws my attention so well that I decide to stand up and stroll to the kitchen, to know what she's preparing. The sound from the doorbell brings me to a prompt stop. I turn towards the direction of the door. Who can that be? It must be that troublesome sister of hers. The bells ring the second time, just when I'm about to open the door. I roll my eyes and open the door slowly, revealing her face.

She sees me and gasps. "You?". I roll my eyes. "What the hell are you doing here?"

I ignore her question and stare at her instead. "Did she change her hair color?" I thought. Her hair was no longer red but black, which fell right down her shoulder. Her lips curve into a smile but disappear like a flash. I roll my eyes and trail my eyes to her body. She's dressed in a white-shouldered bodice top and black ripped-off trousers, paired with black boots. "Hey!! My eyes are up here!!" She yells

I groan. I can't believe I got lost, staring at her. I raise my head slowly to see her staring at me like she's seen a ghost. Our eyes lock. We stare at each other, lost in our different thoughts.

"Ahem!!" Ari clears her throat, jolting us back to reality.

I adjust myself and move away from the door. "Sorry, you should come in".

She hisses and walks past me, fastening her bag to her back. Ari winks at me and I roll my eyes. I follow them into the room and sit down to watch my movie. "Don't tell me food isn't ready yet"

Ari chuckles. "You came at the right time. You should refreshen up first"

"Nah, I will eat first"

"You have to take your bath first"

I look at Elora and she glares at me. I turn slightly to face the television. Although my eyes are on the screen. My attention focuses more on their talks. After a bit of argument, they finally come to an agreement which is to let Elora eat first before showering. "Ori, are you eating now?"

"No, I'd like to finish this movie first" I reply

"If you say so. I'll keep yours in the microwave" Ari says

"Like I care" Elora murmurs

I sigh and finally focus my attention on the screen.

**

I turn on my bed slightly. It's morning and also the time for Ari to head to work. I slip out of bed to get a glass of water. My dispenser isn't working. I walk out of my room and walk past Ari's room. "Don't tell me you're leaving me in this house with a stranger!!" I hear Elora yell.

I roll my eyes. What's her problem with me? It isn't like we had beef before or we came from the same realm. "Elora, I'm late for work. You have to learn to put up with him if you want to stay here"

I move closer to the door and place my ear on it. Elora groans. "You know that isn't going to work for me"

"Elora, stop being a crybaby and make it work, okay?"

"As far as I'm concerned, it isn't going to work. There's no way I'm staying home with him"

I roll my eyes. Is she kidding me? "What is your plan then? To get a job?"

"Nah. You know I can't do that. I won't even get one if I try"

"Why don't you come work in Dad's Company?"

"You know what, I think I can put up with him for a week. That won't be a problem"

I chuckle. She doesn't want to work in her father's company and yet, she doesn't want to get a job. I moved away quickly when I heard footsteps. I could tell they were about to come out. Without looking back I head straight to the kitchen. I open the fridge and bring out a bottle of water. I poured some water into the glass cup and gulped down all the contents. "Ori, you're awake," Ari says. I turn in her direction

"Yeah. I came to get a glass of water"

"What happened to your dispenser?"

Elora groans. "Is that even a question?"

I sigh. "I should go back to my room. You should take care of yourself at work"

Ari smiles. "Thanks for that"

I smile. "My pleasure". Elora hisses but I ignore her. I walk out of the kitchen and head back to my room. On my way, I smell something strange. I can also hear some footsteps. I stopped walking immediately. "This can't be a Demon?" I thought

I turned to see if there was anyone behind me but there was none. I kind of feel so strange. Which is so unlike me. I decided to take a few steps to see if I would feel the same. I stop again. Someone is following me!!. I quicken my steps and enter my room. The room is so bright and I can hardly see. "What's going on?"

I close my eyes and open them slowly to adjust to the extreme rays of light. I walk close to the table where the shiny object is. I gasp. It's the secret gem!!. Why is it glowing? Is there a message from lord Edward? Did I use it wrongly? Different questions run through my mind. I felt strange movement again. I freeze. Who the heck is trying to play pranks on me?!!. I turn swiftly only to see the shock of my life!!!

Melvin!!!
