Synopsis
Follow my adventures through the land of dreams to navigate untouched worlds and uncover dream law. We'll meet people we've never seen before. We'll see strange worlds too. We might even find the meaning of dream life. The possibilities of dreams are endless so I want to dream everything if I can. I want to see dangerous and loyal creatures, kingdoms as mighty as Camelot itself, friends I never knew I'd met before... before I started dreaming! Also this is a new novel so give me tons of feedback to work with for your benefit. Consider showing me some early support to write this too! If you like short stories then these are going to be a little like that but with a main goal in mind alongside having the same protagonist visiting every world. After all, they are MY dreams! To those who care about knowing whether these are real dreams or not, they are based off of my dreams but sometimes I will describe things in greater detail or use artistic license to write a better story. They come from a physical dream journal I write in as soon as I wake up so I can remember details later. This also means less has to be made up or improved on. The darkness is an actual thing I fight in my dreams too.

Chapter 1 - Bird Kingdom - Dream 01

The night I decided to begin my dream adventure resulted in anticlimactic disappointment. On my first night, I found it impossible to dream. But I, Chase, was determined to achieve my goal. It was only a few days later that I got into the habit. The day I finally did dream, was the day I spawned in the bird Kingdom:

The weather was pretty much perfect. I felt warm apart from my face which felt a bit cooler as a breeze brushed my cheeks. The Sun gave the entire landscape a pure feeling. To begin with, all I did was run through the grass that grew tall and was the healthiest green. I didn't really know what I was doing at the time because I had no idea I was dreaming. It was strange since the place was completely alien to me.

Suddenly, friends were by my side. A boy who gave me the strangest feeling we had known each other since we could crawl, a girl that I had a close attraction to and another boy (my rival) who stuck out because for some reason I had a large amount of respect towards him even though there lurked a nagging thought that could only be jealousy. It was linked to the girl in some way.

Tiny red birds appeared every now and then in the green grass. We would play around and shoot them to gain experience. We shot them with magic from the tips of our fingers which was an ability everyone had. They were pretty easy to kill as they died in just one shot.

At some point, I lost some of my memory of what happened inbetween but our kingdom was at war. All four of us returned to the castle to fight amongst ruins of towers as well as the battlements that were in better condition.

Another memory blank separates me from my friends, stressing me out. I didn't like being apart from them or was it my character? Anyway, sometimes it would feel like I would be watching myself in an out of body experience. These gave me a chance to check out my character's appearance which was not like my own in real life as they had black hair which had a final fantasy style to it. In fact, the hair is all I can remember now.

Soon, I realised who our enemy was. They were another kingdom like ours except they didn't have soldiers so instead they sent birds to attack us just like the small red ones I saw earlier. They were many different colours but all looked the same other than a few were larger. Those took more than one shot to bring down. Some yellow ones took two shots to kill. One shot made them turn red and the other finished them off.

For what seemed to be hours, I ran from a large flock of yellow birds lead by larger green ones. Eventually, by running and shooting, they were all dead. When the birds died they would vanish. I never bothered to check my level at any point. If I did, this could have caused me to become lucid. Unfortunately, I am terrible at becoming lucid so I continued as my character.

My friend who I had known for a long time had found me after my battle. We worked together to travel through the ruins to the castle. There were portals we came across as well. They were on the ground and very small.

Every single one had cracks in them. The portals were also partly closed like a pie chart. To get passed the cracks and open them up, we had to jump on them while also doing something very strange in our heads to force them open with our minds. However, I can't quite describe the feeling. It was as though we were completing a puzzle in our heads.

After being separated by my friend, finding him again and having to watch his internal struggle where he broke down trying to explain how going on was too dangerous, we eventually made it back to the castle. There was a sinister element about it though because the castle was always dark even with torches lit inside.

The people in charge whispered in corners and a feeling emanated from the memories of my character that said the rulers were corrupt. Now and again I got flashes of memories from the character I was controlling. This was strange because our memories fought for control. It was like steering a puppet and we both had different objectives.

The whole gang finally regrouped but I found my rival/friend sleeping with the girl so it wasn't the best reunion. I grew restless and angry at that point so the dream began to collapse. We couldn't leave the castle anymore plus I felt too much hate towards my friends. I think they betrayed me in some way. It might have just been the jealousy of being friend-zoned.

Even the castle collapsed too as my hate for the dream made me reject my character enough to end it. I didn't wake up but I left the dream world somehow...

This was the first official dream to be recorded in my dream journal. If I had to say what I learnt from this, then it's that if you don't have enough control or if you can't identify with whoever you are in the dream, it falls apart pretty quickly. Things go wrong, it stops leaning in your favour, it's no longer fun and you lose everything.

After waking, I was extremely excited at having had such a powerful dream. I felt a mix of emotions including sadness for losing the close friends I had, a sense of unfulfillment for not having solved the issue with the corrupt rulers, anger towards my rival who stole the heart of my love interest, and even fear at the fact that for a few seconds when I returned to the real world, I was confused. I really questioned where I was and almost started up to run downstairs to find my old friends.

I laughed later too because I realised how much I still hated my rival. How could I harbor so much hate at someone who didn't exist (or do they) and I found the fact that my feelings of hate towards my rival were actually stronger than my feelings of love towards the girl. My feelings of hate went away after that because they seemed impure as well as unnecessary. Next time I hope to learn more about the dream world...
