Chapter 14 - A Look Inside The Mind Of Ila'Mu

-The month of Wynnethel, the 1st, year ATC 3,527-

*15 minutes earlier*

Ila'Mu had found needle and thread, reworking the cloak given to her by Abaddon to fit their diminutive size. As Ila was concentrating on finishing touching up the bottom seam, she heard her brother, Mu's voice through their psychic link

~What was that?~ Mu snapped quickly, his voice filled with alarm and fear

~I heard no~ Ila started in return

Just then, she heard what her brother hears through their ears. Someone wad moving around in the bedchamber.

"Brax, I'm telling you, all of the Lord's offspring and spouses have all been dead. He is rigorously thorough, when he puts his mind to something", came a rough-sounding voice from the bedchamber, filled with awe, admiration and only what they could describe as pride in this "Lord", whomever they are.

Ila quickly cut the string and needle from the cloak before throwing it over themselves and running into the adjoined walk-in closet from the sitting room they had been hiding in as they hear the gruff voice of the second.

"Hey, the waiting room has a candle lit, Kindex. If you're so sure that he has handled them all, you check it out." they hear, they assume, to be Brax's deep, gravelly voice along with some heavy-footed shuffling through the room.

"Yea, yea, yea Brax. I'll go check it out." Mumbling under his breath, but not quietly, he continues, "Probably died after lightning the candle, since his Lordship swore he dosed his children with enough to kill a Tantha.. "

As he wasn't quiet, Brax, and Ila'Mu both, heard the entire remark, "A Tantha? Really? I've never seen one, but we're all taught about The Great Tragedy and how his Lordships lover Banished him along with half of their children and his retainers to this Southern hellscape while also abandoning the Loyalists in the Dagger Teeth."

Kindex grunts once, turning back towards Brax, "None have seen a Tantha in Nyx in several thousand years. now, Brax. I know you're new to your post, but really boy. Now, shut your mouth a-"

All the sudden the voices become cut off and the fear mounting inside Ila is reaching a boiling-over point and she starts shaking and whispering, "No, we can't.. We can't go back to Mother. She wants to do horrible, horrible things." As she falls yo her knees and crumples in on herself into a fetal position, hidden in the closet under a rack of clothing.

~Ila. Ila! You must get ahold of yourself, you're the dominant personality, and I cannot wrest control from you to defend ourselves. Do you not remember what Celine said to us? We can trust this Duon, Heiracles is her friend and he will help and protect us. Until he returns though, we must prepare to defend ourselves~

As she listens to her brothers words, their bodies shivering slowly subsides and Ila wipes her tears and nods, ~You're right, brother, ofcourse. We have just been.~

~I know, sister. Our mother has never been. 'Generous' to us, except by both giving us life and how it suits and sees her picture of a world controlled by Mou'Tai. We will live, Celine would never have left us here with him otherwise.~, Mu chided his sister, ~Now, I won't presume to tell you what to do. But if we remain hidden, can it atleast be standing and ready to fight if we must, not hidden, tucked into a ball as we were when still living off of Mother? Please?~

Ila sighs heavily, shrugging her arms down to her sides before pushing them up into a sitting position before rising fully to all of their .7 meters in height, though still very short for an Elvi, since most are atleast a meter, or up to a meter and a half. ~Okay, then, brother. We shall fight, if we must.~ Bringing up their tiny fists to a fighting stance, Ila focuses on her fists as a clear, heavily vibrating haze starts to surround them down to their elbows.

I want to dedicate a section of each chapter to the love of my life, Kreation. For supporting my dream and urging me forward on my desires to finally 'put pen to paper', so to speak by writing out my book for you all to read, thank you so much for the support and love. 🥰
