Chapter 13 - Wes's Forgetful Ways (1)

`` = quotation marks (only used during speech)

He didn't know why he was put here. In a room barded off from the rest of the world.

He couldn't remember anything before the trail. The only thing he knew was that he supposedly tried to kill someone. How true that statement was he didn't know.

But what he did know was that he had a strange ability. Or rather abilities.

Whenever someone would try and attack him, they were either burned or shocked by small clouds that appeared around either him or them. That or holes would suddenly appear all over their body. Whenever that happened, he would see his shadow latched with his attacker's shadow.

It was because of this that he was left mostly alone. Some people tried to get him to be their friend. But the strange occurrences would always stop them from getting far.

He wasn't too mad about it though. From what he could gather, the place he was in, was a place where those that have committed evil have done were sent. How that relates to him he didn't know. Nor did he know what "evil" even was. But hey, at least there was a place where he could gain information.

People here referred to this place as, "the aquarium", and apparently it was a place that no one had been able to escape out of. He didn't care too much about this. But something that he did care about, were books about something called the "weather". He found many similarities with it and one of his abilities. He found it interesting how it would, completely on its own accord, warn him of upcoming weather before he would even see it. And so he named it "Weather Report".

Was it a creative name? no. But did it make sense? yes.

The interesting thing was that, unlike normal weather. Confined to the sky and circumstance. He could recreate any phenomenon or element that was tied to the weather. Water, lightning, nearly anything a human could think of.

Every day at this prison was spent in the library. He had begun studying something called "meteorology", which is a science dealing with the atmosphere and its phenomena, which include both the weather and climate.

It seemed to help him get a better understanding of how Weather Report functioned. Well, in congruent with the weather. How it manipulated the weather, he didn't know. Nor did he really care.

But what he did care about were its uses. The Aquarium seemed to be a place run by some green paper called "money". The more you had, the more you could move around and the less you'd be bothered by the guards. Apparently stealing was bad. From what the books told him at least. But why should he listen to some books about what was right and wrong?

And so long as he didn't get caught it was fine. And unless he made Weather Report out of clouds then nobody could see it. From what he could tell at least.

Sometimes Weather Report would bring him money completely on its own.

His cellmate tried to get him to hand over the money that he had accumulated. He believed that what he was trying to do was called, "intimidating"...It wasn't very effective. And it resulted in him having his hands cut off.

It happened too fast for either of them to register. He knew that it had something to do with his shadow but that's about it. Unfortunately for his cellmate, who was just realising what had happened, he was soon chopped into cleanly cut pieces before being blown out of the room.

He didn't feel too bad about it. He knew about what he was cable of. It was his own fault that this had happened.

Well, at least now the guards may properly consider if they should add someone else to his room.
