When James got home he was greeted with a horrifying sight. The barricade was broken through. There was blood all over the place and when he entered he saw his parens torn to pieces laying on the ground. Behind them sat a dark elf. Contrary to normal elves, dark elves are known for their violent nature.
"I'm going to kill you!" James screamed. At which the dark elf only smiled.
It was glad that it would have one more prey to kill.
"Arlok!" James yelled. And arlok appeared behind him.
When the elf saw the hero it was less cocky and started to get serious.
"Tailwind! Light orb!" James yelled.
An orb of light formed in the palm of Arlok's hand. After a split second, it shot at the dark elf and exploded. Which blinded the elf for a moment.
In that small moment another orb formed in Arlok his hand but this time it was a fireball. It was bigger and seemed hotter than all the others he had produced before. As it shot toward the elf James was already in front of the elf and slashed his leg tendon making it unable to run away.
"Fwish."
"Aargh"
The fireball hit the elf. However, it did not kill it. James knew it would not kill but he didn't want to kill. He wanted to make the elf suffer more than his parent did. He slowly walked into the kitchen while the elf was being burned alive. He then came back with a knife and chopped off all its limbs. He then took the elf to the streets and tossed it in front of him.
"You will have to wait. Until you either die from your wounds or until you get eaten by another monster." James said.
He then turned around to go and bury his parents. Or at least what was left of them. He then went around the entire night slaughtering every monster he could find. He was especially on the lookout for any dark elves just to vent his anger. A the end of the night he gained two more levels. One of the skill points he put into the earth element tree. He got the ground armor skill. And the other he put into the darkness element tree. This gave him night vision.
The next day he went over to Brodin's house only to find that the same thing happened to him but only with a lizardman. It seemed that the monsters killed all the humans who couldn't defend for themselves. The two boys didn't know how many humans were still alive in their little town so they immediately headed for one of the places which they could use as a stronghold.
"What are we going to do? Both our parents are dead and we have no idea what the situation outside of this town is like." Brodin said.
"It is probably safe to assume that it is the same all around the world. And I think that the best plan of action is to make this place safe and gather supplies." James said.
The boys then went all over the town to collect food and stuff to strengthen their stronghold. At the hardware store, they took a lot of wood and all the metal they could find. When they got back to their stronghold they started making a fence around it. Their stronghold existed of a house with a small garden. Around it, they made a fence which nothing could slip through. The only way to get in is to either break the fence or fly in. At the same time, they took books from the library. The books they took were about different types of fighting, farming, and all kinds of other things that could help them survive the apocalypse.
"I remember something." Brodin said after they read books for a few days.
"What is it?" James asked.
"If I get my smithing level to level 10 I can produce interspatial rings with the right materials." Brodin said.
"Then what are we waiting for?" James said. "Let's go and grind. If we raid all the dungeons we can find we could probably also find the materials needed for the rings."
So for the next two weeks, the boys were raiding dungeons during the day, and tending to their small farm in the evening, and sleeping at night. Until Brodin, his smithing skill reached level 10. At this time Brodin reached level 11 and James reached level 14. This meant that James gained a lot of new skills: Water spout, fire tornado (a combination of fire and wind element), earth wall, HP boost (Light element), materialize at level 10. After he reached level 10 he used the next four skill points in that skill tree. He acquired the skills: Twin tails. These gave Arlok two tails which increased both James his speed and attack by 5 percent. Dragon fist. This skill increased James his attack by another 10 percent. He then learned the light and shadow dagger skills. These two skills were a combination of the light and darkness element with the materialize skill. James was already one of the strongest people in the world thanks to his choice to spread his skill points and make interesting choices.
Brodin put all of his skill points into his smithing skill. But as James already predicted they collected the materials needed for the interspatial rings inside the dungeons. So when Brodin reached smithing level 10 he immediately started creating the interspatial rings. James put all kinds of books in his interspatial ring while Brodin filled his with food
"Great, now we can travel without any burden of luggage." Brodin said.
"Yeah, let try going around the country first to see if there are any other people like us." James said.
And just like that they left their hometown and started their journey which would take them across the entire world.
