Chapter 37 - The mine

The toad was six times his size with a green colour, about twenty metres in front of them both. They were, of course, surprised. Almost immediately, right after he saw the creatures, the dust of steel began flying out of the small glass bottle in his hand.

The dust formed multiple swords, about twenty in number, each with the size as big as a great sword, surrounding the toad. The toad, however, ignored every single sword floating in the air, aiming toward its body.

Carelessly and thoughtlessly, he charged, being the dumbf*ck of a toad he is, he leapt forward. Frigs hurriedly said to the girl behind him, "Bell! Get inside the tunnel now! I'll take care of him!"

Bell hesitated, "No! I won't, if we are going to die here, we are going to die together. For the hobbits and for the…"

Frigs shouted once again, "No! You can't defeat it! It's too strong for you that has never learnt any magic before!"

Bell was silent, a second passed in a blink of an eye, tears began forming, dropping out of her eyes. She wiped it off her face and said, "Edward… I love you!"

Thud

Thud

Thud

What followed next was the sound of footsteps, echoing ever so slightly as it became smaller and smaller. Realizing the girl now is gone, Frigs sighed, 'Well… at least she is safe right now…'

He extended his arm, the one with the small fire forward, and then felt the mana moving out of his finger, connected to each of the swords. He smiled as all twenty sharp swords flew right toward the charging toad that took his time getting to him.

It pierced the toad's soft body like a hot knife cutting through butter. Not even a few seconds later, the toad was silent and not moving. He slowly stood there in his toad formation for a few seconds before falling toward the ground.

Thud!

A loud thud could be heard as the toad made an impact with the hard ground. Dust and dirt were flying everywhere because of impact. Frigs calmly smiled, "Well, that was an easy fight!'

He continued smiling as the swords made their way out of the toad's body and then slowly turning into steel dust, then flying toward the small glass bottle into Frigs's hand.

Soon, the smile disappeared from his face as he saw what was behind the toad's dead body. Corpses of hobbits, 15 in total, fully armed with pickaxe, shield and swords. On top of that, some hobbits' skeletons.

He sighed as he slowly made his way around the green toad and organized all the corpses on the ground. Making two lines of corpses in front of him, he closed his eyes, 'May these souls rest peacefully'

And stood there silently for a few seconds before opening back his eye and turning around. Right as he turned around, he heard footsteps echoing from the tunnel leading into the room.

Almost immediately, he ran toward the toad's corpse, climbing it and sitting on the back of the toad, with one of his leg raised, 'Oh, this must be so cool for Bell!'

Soon enough, their eyes met, twenty lightly armed hobbits with Bell leading them. The hobbits were, of course, impressed. As soon as Frigs made his way down the toad's body, Bell lunged into him, hugging him.

Frigs blushed as the two of them stayed in that position for a few seconds before one of the hobbits with brown hair and white beard said, "Ooh… this is pretty bad. All the corpses of our friends"

At that moment, Bell released her grip on Frigs, "I'm glad you are safe… I'm truly embarrassed remembering what I said earlier but let's take care of the corpses first,"

Frigs nodded, and they made their way to the group of hobbits that are standing in front of the corpses. The brown-haired and white-bearded hobbit stood up and said, "Ma'am, we need to bring these people back and bury them..."

Bell nodded, "We must do that to honour their soul,"

The hobbit chuckled, "Alright… but something caught my eyes when we first arrived here. You see that room?"

He pointed in a direction beyond the corpses, around 20 metres from where they stood. A room with a slightly visible blue light could be seen. Bell looked at it for a few seconds before saying to the hobbit, "Alright, I'll go check that with the gentleman here… We will return shortly after,"

The hobbit chuckled, and when the girl was facing the direction of the room, the hobbit winked at Frigs. Frigs smiled back and patted him on his shoulder before making his way toward the room with the girl.

When they entered the room, the content of it amazed them. There was a big rock or should I say more, covered in some layer of stone, but the one that isn't covered could be seen having a blue colour and emitting light with the same colour.

Frigs smiled as he placed his hand on the rock and felt something was rushing into his body. He could feel blue-coloured energy entering through his fingers.

(feeling colour lol)

His whole body trembled, hands, legs, head, necks, everything. But he felt that if he let go of his hand from the thing, it could mess up the whole process.

The pain is incredible, 'I felt that there are thousands of swords piercing my body!'

Bell was getting worried about Frigs's body vibrating. She patted him on his shoulder a few times, thinking, 'Did Edward get a seizure…? Oh, no!'

She panicked and shouted, "Edward! Edward! Calm down! I'll call for some help, stay here!"

Footsteps ensued, Bell shouted and waving her hands as she was facing toward the hobbits, tears slowly dropping from her eyes, "Guys! Help! Help! We have a problem here! Please help!"

They noticed her shouting and ran toward her hurriedly. When the hobbits and the girl entered the room, the group found Frigs, laying on the ground, not moving.
