George was being released today.
Dream eagerly got dressed without caring what he looked like, and ran out of the door, fumbling with the keys while trying to lock his apartment.
Finally, George would be coming back. It felt so lonely and boring without him. He couldn't even call him, and he hated hospitals, so he really didn't want to visit him. Today he'd just have to suck it up. A huge smile spread across his face as he got into his car and drove to the his destination, jamming out to music along the way.

Dream entered George's room and right away saw a genuine grin coming from him. Dream walked to his side.
"Are you ready?"
"Duh! This place sucks!" George retorted.
Dream chuckled. A doctor came in and started to talk with him, telling George to be careful for the next few days. George rolled his eyes, but agreed. They left as quick as they could.
โโโโ
"Hey, Dream?"
"Hm?" Dream slightly glanced at George, but right away turned his eyes back to the road.
"What happened?"
"Uhm- what do you mean?"
"Oh come on, Dream. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Why was I sent to the hospital?"
"I don-"
"Be honest."
He hesitated. "To be honest, I have no idea what happened to you when you passed out. Uhm, but before I found you, we were sitting in my car, and-" He hesitated. "Actually, no. I don't want you to think about bad memories you don't even remember."
George sighed. "I've only lost the memories of the past few days, I can get them back in no time. Hmm, maybe we can go places that we've gone to so far and maybe I'll remember some things?"
Dream faintly smiled. "Sure. Our first stop is my apartment."
โโโโ
"We're here," Dream said as he pulled into his driveway.
George looked out the window. "Ooh, I can't wait to see the inside!"
Dream parked the car and turned the keys, shutting off the car. They both got out and started over to the door. Dream took his other keys and unlocked the door, swinging the door wide open. They both walked inside.
"Woah, this place looks nice!" George said, but stood there for a moment, confused.
Dream smiled weakly, remembering the day they had just met in person. "That's what you said when you first saw this place...before you uhm- lost your memory." He said, his voice lowering as the memory clouded his thoughts.
George walked over to him and cupped his cheeks. "Dream, I know you blame yourself for my losing my memory, but I can guarantee it wasn't your fault... Well, unless you knocked me out or something." Dream smiled a little, flustering by the sudden warmth of George's gentle hands on his skin. He brushed his thumb across his cheeks, causing Dream to smile more.

Dream pulled him into a hug. "Thank you."
He felt George's head snuggle into his chest, even more emotions washing over him all at once.
George looked up at him and smiled, his eyes sparkling.
๐๐ฆ'๐ด ๐ด๐ฐ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ข๐ถ๐ต๐ช๐ง๐ถ๐ญ..
They stood there for a moment still hugging each other, gazing into each other's eyes. Then as if it were rehearsed, they pulled away at the same time.
"Wait, so what happened when I first got here?"
Dream laughed. "You said 'woah, this place looks nice' and.." Dream started reenacting George. "You right away sat on the sofa." He ran over to the sofa and jumped on it.
George laughed. "I did that?"
Dream rolled his eyes. "I wouldn't have just told you if it weren't."
"Pff, okay, mister lying-all-the-damn-time."
Dream slowly turned his head towards George. "I'm a liar? You lie all of the time! I think you got the wrong person."
"Oh, then what do I lie to you about?"
Dream thought for a moment, but then smirked. "You say you don't like me."
"Since when did I say that? I never lie." George smirked as well.
Dream became lost for words. "W-what?" Dream nervously laughed. "What is wrong with you?"
George fell to the ground in a fit of laugher. Dream rolled his eyes again, but started laughing as well at the sight of George laughing his head off. For a minute or so they just laughed at each other. Dream felt so much better with him in the apartment. He made the place more alive.
"I feel like I haven't laughed like that in ages," George said.
Dream made a happy humming sound.
"Uh, Dream?"
"Yeah?"
"How am I supposed to get my memory back..?"
Dream rubbed his forehead. "I- I don't know, George. For now, we're just gonna go to places we've both gone to within these past few days. I really don't know what to do.."
"I hope I can get it back."
Dream sighed. "Me too, George. Me too."

George ruffled his damp hair while looking in the fogged up mirror. He had just taken a shower and felt so refreshed. It really sucked to be in that hospital.

George was lost in thought when he heard a knock at the door, causing him to snap back into the real world.
"You doing okay there, George?"
"Yep!" He took one last look in the mirror and opened the door to see Dream standing right there. George smiled at him.
"Hey uhhh so.." He scratched the back of his neck. "I was wondering.. uhm, since the doctors told us we had to be careful and that I should watch out for you, uhm- can I sleep with you.?" George froze and stared at him, trying to comprehend what he had just said.
"S-sorry that was a dumb question and it sounded weird..uhm, never-mind."
George reached out for Dream's hand and grabbed it, gently holding the bigger hand. "Sure, Dream." The thought made George flush, but he tried to ignore it. He didn't want Dream to catch him blushing, or he would make fun of him about if for the rest of his life, as he already knew from experience.
Dream turned in surprise. "Really?!"
George giggled. "Yes, but shut up, simp."
"I'm not denying I am one," he said as he turned and started walking to his bedroom, George following close behing, still holding his hand. George could tell he was smirking without seeing his face. It was obvious.

They walked inside the bedroom and let go of each other's hands and climbed in the bed. They both sat there talking for a few minutes, until George noticed Dream's hoodie sleeve had slid up a little.
"Hey, can I see your arm?"
Dream looked at him confused for half of a second, but almost right away caught on.
"Um, why?"
"No reason. Just let me see it."
Dream kept his arm where it was. George reached out and gently took his arm, Dream surprisingly not fighting him. George looked at him and his expression was mixed with horror, anxiety, and sorrow.
George slowly rolled up his hoodie sleeve more and more until he saw the clean and nearly fresh wounds. George looked back up at him again in disbelief. "Dream, wha-"
"I'm so s-sorry, George. I-" He never finished his sentence. He broke out into quiet sobs, taking back his hand and covering his face. George scooted closer until he was close enough to pull him into a hug. "It's okay, Dream. Let it all out, I'm here for you."
Dream buried his face in George's chest, sobbing in pure pain. George started humming Changes (by Hayd), slowly running his hands through Dream's hair in comfort. They sat like this for a few moments, until Dream slowly pulled away. "T-thank you.."
George weakly smiled. "It's the least I can do." He hesitated, but continued. "Uhm- can you tell me why you.. hurt yourself-? You don't have to answer, I just wanna try help you."
Suddenly George's head felt light-headed. There was a fuzzy memory from the back of his head, but he couldn't distinguish it, so he pushed it aside from his thoughts.
"I- I.." He took in a deep, shaky breath. "I- I don't know what got into m-me. I hurt y-you, I-..I'm the reason you were in the h-hospital. I know y-you said not to blame myself b-but, I can't." He paused to take in another shaky breath. "T-these voices in my head.. they tell me to d-do these t-things.. I'm s-so sorry.."
George sat there for a moment thoughtfully, feeling sympathetic. "Dream, it's not your fault, and if it were, I don't care. Listen to me. Those voices are very tempting, I know, but you can fight them. You are so strong and you are doing so well, and you can tell me if you ever need help. I'm so proud of you, Clay. Please, don't hurt yourself. You can keep fighting, just please, without self inflicted pain. I am here for you, Dream, and I will be every step of the way. Life will hit you like a bunch of bricks, but all you can do is hit back [Dream quote]. Everything will be okay. You mean so much to me, I can't put it into words. Please.."
Dream sniffled, but didn't say anything back. George still saw tears filling his eyes.
George continued. "..I've heard that rather than cutting, you can use a red sharpie and draw on the places you're tempted."
"I-I.. I don't know."
"Dream, please.. I'm not trying to pressure you I just want to help you."
"I k-know..I'm s-sorry..P-please don't h-hate me.." he said, stuttering.
"Sorry for what-? You have nothing to be sorry about, and I could never hate you."
Dream fell silent.
George sat there for a moment, trying to figure out what to say. "Dream, I-"
Dream, in response, hummed in confusion.

George took in a deep breath, trying to control the shaking. "I-" ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ. "Nevermind." Dream didn't respond.
"Come here." George motioned for him to get even closer. He did as he was told, and effortlessly scooted closer. George hugged him again, resting his head on Dream's as Dream's head laid on his shoulder. They sat like this until Dream's muffled sniffling turned into calm breathing.

George positioned Dream so that his head rested on George's lap. George gently brushed the sandy-colored hair covering his eyes. He smiled.

George then carefully got up and put a pillow under Dream's head. He quietly shifted so that he was right next to him, holding him close. He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Dream woke up to find himself cuddling something soft. He opened his eyes assuming it was a pillow, but found himself looking at George. He looked so peaceful when he was sleeping, but only when he was sleeping.
Then, all the events that had taken place last night had come back to him.

Then, George opened his eyes. He looked right into Dream's eyes.
"Dream..?"
Dream smiled. "Goodmorning, Georgie. How'd you sleep?"
"Alright, I guess. What about you?" He yawned and stretched.
"I slept great." The room fell silent for a few moments.
"Hey, George?"
George hummed in response.
"I wanna thank you for last night. You really didn't have to help.."
"But, I want to! You deserve to be happy."
Hearing those words made Dream feel joy again. His heart that had been metaphorically shattered had began to heal. It made him feel warm on the inside.
"I'm so lucky to have you-..as my best friend."
"Y-yeah..I'm glad you're my best-..friend too."
For some reason those words hurt.

Dream forced a smile. "Hey, what do you say we go out to eat today?"
That seemed to wake George up a bit. "Sure."

๐๐๐ค๐ง๐๐'๐จ ๐๐๐
They entered the Chick Fil' A and was right away welcomed by a waft of warmth. They stood in the line, and soon, they were greeted with a warm smile.ย [ive never been to chick fil a before so i dont know what it's like so im gonna wing it]
"Hello, my name is Rose, welcome to Chick Fil' A! Are you ready to take your order?"
Dream spoke up. "May I have the grilled chicken sandwhich with a cup of water, please?"
She placed his order. "And for you?"
"Oh, can I have the grilled nuggets with a cup of lemonade, please?"
She typed in his order. "Okay, we'll have your order ready in no time!" She took a plastic number and handed it to them. "Come up when this number is called." She smiled quickly at them, and returned to her work. They went and sat down at a table.
"She looks pretty."
George gagged. "Okay, Dream."
"Oh don't tell me that you don't find her attractive."
George wanted to tell him he was more attracted to guys, but he didn't wanna make things awkward or uncomfortable. "She just doesn't seem like my type, y'know?"
"I guess." Dream chuckled.
A few minutes later their number was called, and they went up and got their food. They began to eat, and as they were about to get ready to leave, the girl that took their order came up to them, there being no customers.
She turned to Dream. "Hey, I was wondering if I could get your snapchat? You seem like a pretty chill guy, and I'm looking for friends. I just moved to Orlando."
"Oh- uhm, sure!"
George watched as they exchanged snapchats, feeling jealous. Then, he started getting a flashback.
Then, the memory came back to him. A girl was hitting on him, but Dream stopped her..? Why though..

A few minutes later, the girl, Rose, walked away after seeing there was another customer.
Dream faintly smiled. "She's pretty chill."
"Ok." George said, dryly. He didn't care about what she was like, he just wanted to leave.
"You good?"
No. "Uh, yeah, why?"
"..Nothing."
They walked to his car in an awkward silence. When they got in, the tension started crackling in the air.
"So, uhm- did you remember anything at all so far?"
"Uhm, I-" He decided he didn't wanna tell Dream about his flashback. "I had a really fuzzy memory, but other than that, no."
Dream frowned. "Oh.. okay."
They both fell silent as Dream drove back home.
โโโโ
George right away got out of the car when Dream turned off his car. When he got to the door, he opened it, stepping inside and closing the door, not caring whether Dream was right behind him or not. He ran his hands through his hair.

George flipped around as he heard the door open, making him jump a little.
"George?" He looked at me. "Are you okay?"
George froze. "Uh, yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
"I dunno. I guess you just seemed upset ever since we left Chick Fil' A."
"Well, I'm fine. Thanks." He said, his voice flat.
"Are you sur-"
"I'm FINE." George turned around and stomped into the bathroom, slamming the door behind him.
He decided he needed to take a shower to calm down.
He stepped into the warm water, the feeling at first making him shiver. He started wandering around in his thoughts.

George leaned forward, his head hitting the wall underneath the shower head. He started having a headache.
Then the memory he had that was fuzzy suddenly became a bit more clear.
"Well, I don't NEED your 'help', so it'd be nice if you could just leave me the FUCK alone, like I asked you to." The memory flashed in his head. "I may be close to you and sometimes open up, but you don't always need to try get me to talk to you about stuff."
He remembered running into the bedroom and...

He finished up his shower, and turned off the water, stepping out and grabbing a towel. He wrapped it around himself, drying off. After that, he quickly put on his clothes and looked at the mirror. At that moment, he heard a soft knock from the door.
"Uhm, yes?"
"George? Can I talk to you?"
George didn't wanna face him, so he lied. "U-uhm I'm still drying off."
"Okay, I won't come in then. I just.. I wanna apologize for whatever I did. I have a strong feeling you're mad at me, and I wanna make things right. Can you tell me what's wrong?"
George stayed silent.
"Please.?"
That made his heart melt. He sighed, and spoke up. "Y-you didn't do anything wrong I just-"
...
"Hm?"
"That girl from today.."
"Oh, Rose? What about her?"
"I just-" George leaned against the door. "You didn't let me get that one girl's number.. Maia? Yeah, but then you were able to get that girl's snapchat-?"
"That's what this was about?" Dream sighed. "Look, that girl was actually hitting on you. Rose, she's different. She just wanted to be friends."
"You don't know that.."
"I do.." George heard his voice getting closer, assuming he was also leaning on the door.
"How so?"
"Sheโ I don't know. Just a gut feeling, y'know?"
"I guess.." George mumbled. He slid down the door, ending up sitting on the cold tiles, the door being his support.
"Wait- how do you know about that? You lost your memory-"
"I got some of my memory back."
"But you said-"
"I lied. I didn't think it was important."
"Oh.." They both fell silent for a while, but George heard a sliding noise from the other side of the door. Dream must've been copying George.
"Hey, George?"
"Y-yeah?"
"I want you to know.. I'm sorry, and I would never date Rose, I swear."
George smiled through the pain he was feeling. "It's okay, Dream."
"Are you smiling?"
"Shut up," George said, grinning.
Dream laughed softly. "No you."
"That was such a lame comeback."
"Whatever." There was a comfortable silence.
"C-can you come out now?"
"Oh, sure." George got up, and quickly opened the door, completely forgetting Dream was also leaning on the door. As the door opened up wide, he saw Dream falling as well. George fell to the floor laughing.
"What the hell?!" Dream looked shocked, but eventually joined in on the laughing.
โโโโ
For most of the night, Dream was on his phone, but George didn't mind. He was probably doing something related to his job. For the first time in a few nights, George got a good night's sleep, all of his worries drifting away.
But only for that night.
