HARD KELP TO SWALLOW

The change took over four hours, according to Marzena and Dariol collections.

Vera and the quads had been unconscious as their change came about. Dariol and Marzena had watched as their tails slowly dissipated into two legs for each mer. Their screams echoed throughout the cave and it took everything in Dariol to hold his offspring down as she changed. Her body jerked and boiled with heat as her body changed to adapt. Drool had poured from her mouth as her legs began to form. The process seemed to go one for days as the two parents attended to their young. The merlings' change came rather swiftly, and ended within an hour. Their panicked bodies cuddled with their mother's, who still laid unconscious.

The quad had stayed with their mom, crying for her pain and grief. They seemed to have forgotten about Dariol and Marzena and only focused on Vera as she jerks without any purposeful intentions. Her body convulses from the pain her lower body receives for minutes at a time. Each of her merlings did their best to comfort her into a peaceful sleep, but nothing worked. She still thrashes around as if they had done nothing. Adare and Atlas are mewling at her side, trying to wake Vera. Adare sits on her left, gently cuddling into her arm, attempting to nuzzle her awake. His eyes threaten to leak from the sadness in his heart. She went through so much pain and was still thriving on it. Atlas had taken her right side, pressing his ear to her chest. His eyes dart around her body, checking for a pulse. Relief floods his senses as he pulls back and he nods to his siblings.

Adare's once-broken smile brightens his face, and he nudges her arm again. Vera doesn't wake from their attempts, but she does stir. Hope fills each of their little hearts. Elsa laces her hands with Vera's left, and a spark runs through her veins. She smiles with delight kissing her moona's newly turned hand with care. Her eyes brighten to a beautiful emerald, sparkling with hope. Eira settles her head into Vera's straightened lap, holding onto the only parent she knows. She squeezes Vera's thighs tightly, as if she were scared of her moona disappearing, and quietly sobs for her pain. Dariol does his best to soothe the quad, but nothing ends up how he'd like; they stay in the same position for two more hours. Marzena calms her wolf and herself from panicking any further.

A moment's hesitation causes the silver hair mer's locks to fade into a dark chocolate. Marzena gasps from the sudden change, but smiles. Her daughter would have her dark roots. Marzena only hopes she carried the green eyes like Vera's children. In the minutes after her tan skin turning a few shades darker to match her Wolvernrian descent, Marzena decides to grab the clothing from the satchel she brought. It was a silver lined white fur, from a wild albern, skirt and band for her breasts. Marzena would wait for Vera to wake, pondering how she would react to the change in her features.

It was her eyes to open first, she gasps for air and rises. Her chest heaves up and down rapidly as her lungs suck in air. The change was new and unexpected, but Vera could become accustomed with the change. It would only take time. Her brain became a pain beacon, pounding against her skull. Vera's hands held her head as she blinks away the pain. Small pairs of hands wrap around her waist, and Vera suddenly opens her eyes, finding all her merlings with beautiful darkened hair and green irises. Vera grins at her children and pulls them into her lap. Each fight to hug and squeeze her until she can't move. She laughs before holding them close.

Vera notices how Eira and Adare share dark forest green eyes, much like the color of her father's tail. Eira's hair was a chestnut brown and curls around her ends. Adare's hair looked as if caramel had been swirled into the color. The combination was beautiful and enhanced his dark eyes. Elsa and Atlas' hair seems to favor the lighter shades of brown. Elsa's locks shine like aged gold with branch colored streaks in the moonlight. Her emerald eyes stand out again her dark features, accenting her eyes. Atlas' light chocolate hair hangs in his beautiful, bold shamrocks. Just as his siblings were, he cuddles against his moona, thankful.

"Moona, moona!" They shout for her attention.

Vera brought a finger to her lips, "Shh, my gen, we mustn't be too loud," she smiles happily at them in return.

They quiet down, softly murmuring against her skin when she catches sight of Marzena. After a moment, her mother hands her odd clothing and she is unsure of what to do with it. Marzena giggles softly, "'Ere, let's stand." Vera quirks an eyebrow, but does as she says. Their hands connect, and with the help of the quad, Vera stand on her own two feet. She wiggles her toes on the rocks, feeling how different they are from her scales. She holds onto Adare and Atlas' shoulder while Marzena guides her legs into the skirt. The fabric slides up her long legs smoothly, and rests upon her hips. The fur was so soft and lush, almost as if it were fake. Vera runs her hands over the fur with amazement. The skirt ends just three quarters down her thighs and gives her room to move in.

Marzena touches Vera's chin, softly guiding her attention to Marzena. Their identical pine green eyes connect, and a smile breaks across Marzena's mouth. "Now tis," she whispers, shaking the garment in front of the younger female. Before Vera can ask, her mother wraps the fur around her breast and fastens the back with string. When she's done, the band rests securely around her breasts. Marzena smiles at her daughter, then frowns when she realizes there wasn't enough clothing for the children.

"I'm fraid I've cum unprepared," she admits sheepishly.

Vera frowns a moment, glancing from her mother to her children. An idea sprung to her mind, and she grins at Dariol. Dariol had been observing the exchange between his two females, so when Vera suddenly taps his shoulder, he blinks for a moment. "Could you gather some seaweed? We'll need something to cover their bodies until we reach a new home." Vera comments, softly shrugging the information off. Dariol smiles at her, then nods. Without any words, he dives into the water with a small splash.
