Vera is the one to gently push Adare and Atlas towards the beast. Both of their shining spheres stare at her in fear. They stand frozen in the spot as she nods and smiles. Vera pushes her children towards the massive beast, who only waits patiently. Adare decides to step forwards, looking to the eyes of the cainine. He wasn't sure what type of creature this was, or if he was going to eat him, but if his moona trusted the calm beast, so would he. He stuck his hand out, just as Vera had, and the creature rose his muzzle to the child's hand. Adare froze the moment the creature moves. He couldn't wrap his mind around the fact he was only sniffs instead of bites.
Atlas watches his brother and the enormous thing sniffs Adare's hand. Atlas expects his to bite off the appendage, but instead, the beast licks his palm and departs. Adare breathes heavily, waiting for a surprise strike that never comes. Instead, the furried creature directs his attention to Atlas. He still haunches down, but not too much to miss Atlas's and Adare's height. Atlas gulps, taking one step closer than Adare and reluctantly holding out his palm. Kaius, as the creature was called, softly sniffs at the child's hand. It took only a moment, as it did with Adare, then the beast licks his palm as well. Atlas pulls back, wiping the saliva from the wolf on the ground. He scrunches up his nose.
Kaius bestows a wolfish smiles before standing upright. Adare and Atlas back up, running to their mother. Kaius bows to Marzena, and she smiles. Their eyes share the same look, and Marzena turns to Vera, "You'll need to ride with him. Kaius will protect you." Marzena smiles, then gently smooths Elsa's hair from her face. She watches the child sleep in her arms, reminiscing to when she held Vera in her arms. Of course, Vera wasn't the age the quad was no, but Marzena could only dream of holding Vera like that again.
Vera's brows knot. "And you? How will Kaius fit us all?"
Marzena continues to smile, and walks over to Vera quietly. She didn't want to wake her new dake. Vera was astonished Marzena transfers Elsa to her free arm. Her mother, her moona, smooths the rest of Elsa's hair before catching Vera's eyes. A grin breaks across her face, "I 'ave mah ways, Vera."
There was something about the way Marzena spoke that made Vera uneasy. She wasn't dangerous, or so she seemed, but there was something definitely peculiar about her moona. Vera would find the beginning of her problem with her moona somewhere hidden within secret caverns. The smile she wore in her face could have fooled any Wolvernrian, but Vera wasn't full Wolvernrian; she was also a Vark-Lumos Siren, and she could smell secrets from miles around. The dense land reeked of it, and for her own moona to hide secrets... The audacity!
So Vera nods, listening to her words and believing them for the moment. Marzena was fooled, and Vera notices how Kaius was ready for her and the quad to board his back. Heaistantly, Vera sits below his ribs as Adare and Atlas shimmy around her. She holds tight to the Wolvernrian's fur, not letting go for a moment. It was seconds before Kaius tests his footing, then he ran. He was fast, so fast the wind whips her hair in her face, and she can no longer see. Vera tried her best to shield the quad, and turns to her right. There, in the trees, she saw green eyes twinkle like stars, running along with her and Kaius.
Only this creature wasn't as small as Kaius.
