Chapter 28
Alessia Claw ~
"You mean to say that the guardians of the Tree of Magic are here in the coven?" I asked with widened eyes fixed at the maiden who just made me aware of the fact that Lora and Lara, The Divine Sisters are here to see Frederick.
"Yes! They requested an audience with your brother, the king and he commanded that they be let in and welcomed." the maiden said standing with her face bowed to the earth.
"Where are they all now?" I asked as I closed all the spell-books that surrounded me and rising to my feet.
"Last I saw, they were in the throne room anticipating the king's arrival." The maiden added.
"You are dismissed!" I sent the maiden away and headed out to my chambers in the coven heading straight for the throne room.
The Tree of Magic is back.
It must be!
That is the only thing that beguiles a visit from The Divine Sisters. Hurriedly, I entered the throne room only to have my ears hear that Cassius is coming here from one of the divine sisters who was on her feet.
"What do you mean by Cassius is coming?" "Coming here to do what exactly?" "Coming to ruin the rest of a family that I have left?" "Coming to finish what he started?" "Coming to put an end to my aching existence?" words just shot out of my mouth without an iota of control.
Hearing that Cassius, of all creatures was coming really triggered the vampyre anger in me. Why shouldn't it? It is because of Cassius that I have spent a hundred and twelve years of solitude owing to the fact that he took my heart and my soul away from me one at a time.
"Calm down Alessia." Frederick got up from his throne and walked up to me.
He urged me to keep a low temper noticing that the pupils of my eyes went red in color. Being a hybrid of both vampyre and a witch, I didn't have the glowing blue eyes vampyres get and the glowing green eyes witches have when they're in their true form. When I triggered any of my inner forms, my eyes just glow bloody red and right now they did. I was insanely filled with hatred towards Cassius.
"This is why I didn't think of bringing you in on this. I was trying to prevent you from having an outburst if ever, Cassius' name was going to be mentioned or involved in the topics of discussion. I can't afford seeing you like this anymore Alessia." He added pulling me down to a seat.
"Greetings Alessia Claw Wolfs! We have heard rather, we know so much about you and your child, the savior. Too bad that the circumstances behind our meeting aren't of good horizons." the two witches said in such an instantaneous way that made me think that they could read each other's thoughts and share vocal abilities.
"… My sincere regrets for that! I just can't stand that name being called knowing entirely well of what I have been going through because of the bearer' actions. It makes me so…"
"You don't have to apologize for anything. We totally understand. Everyone who has had an encounter with the ruthless titan speaks no better of him." The first said interrupting me with sorrow visibly shown in her eyes. "He is worse than a stab in the neck and must be put to an end. It is the destiny of your daughter, Elena, the savior to do that. Right now, there are a lot of things on ground that threatens her doing that which fate has written down for her." she added heaving a sigh.
Through the mind link, Frederick shared with me all that went on before I came in. like I suspected, the legendary Tree of Magic is here in the vampyre lands and it seems that Cassius has a mission to do something undoable to it. He probably has no clue of the price that he is going to pay if he dares to meddle with the most powerful entity in existence. He would be locked away in the underworld and made to suffer a fate more badly than death.
Not that I give a damn about it but still.
"From what we could make out on, Cassius plans to use a flower plucked out from the Tree of Magic to enact a curse that is capable of taking a being who is beyond the limits of nature into the human world and this being would still retain his or her abilities." the second witch said.
"No! If Cassius gets over there, both Elena and the humans there alongside everything in that world would be in grave danger." Frederick said sealing his fists in an expression of his rage.
"If he succeeds, we will need more than just the trybrid child to save both worlds and that is why you, King Frederick have to make sure that with your union of creatures, no matter what the cost, Cassius doesn't lay a finger on that tree until it moves again." the first witch added with a tone of finality.
"You don't have to tell me that twice. The only way Cassius is going to get that flower is if he gets through me first!" "Guards!!! Sound the battle alarm! Let every soldier in this kingdom be at their posts at the various mark points of this land."
Frederick gave the order and it was followed accordingly. In the matter of a few seconds, the alarm was sounded. Every vampyre, warlock and all other supernatural creatures united under Frederick were prepared at every section and every checkpoint of the kingdom for the arrival of Cassius and his lycans.
"Where exactly is the tree going to be? We need that information to know where Cassius would be headed as soon as he crosses our borders. That way, we can corner him before he does any serious damage." I asked searching my spell-books for a location spell that could lead me to or could open up a portal to the sacred tree.
"Where rain and shine falls,
There the Tree of Magic calls.
Waiting but moving it goes,
To a place where no one knows." the two witches recited this rhyme and in the twinkle of an eye, they were gone, completely out of sight.
"Their time with us must have been up or something. They have given us the same rhyme about the Tree of Magic that every thinking child in this world should have known before a completed year of age. Frederick, if we plan on getting to the tree before Cassius, we have to act smart and fast." "We have to commence a search for it." I said taking a piece of the earth and performing a few powerful but complex spells I knew would help us quicken the search.
"Agreed!!" Frederick replied with a nod.
"Wherever the tree could be in this land, that region must be flowing with unimaginable energy so the fastest way to get to it is to…."
"…to find the exact place where vampyres at the moment have improved abilities more than anything that they have ever felt." Frederick said in a bid to complete my statement by interrupting me.
"Precisely!"
"Cassius could be here in any second so we have to speed this up!" Frederick said as he came down from his throne. "For now, stay here and keep on trying those location spells with the rest of the witches while I, the warlocks and a couple of vampyres would begin the geographical search for Cassius or any sign of his lycan subjects." Frederick added heading hastily to the armor room.
"I'll die if I have to because there is no way that I am letting Cassius bring harm to the human world say more of my niece, Elena." Frederick turned and gave me a look in the eyes that made me feel and know that he meant those words.
Somehow, I was glad that he was willing to go that far but I just hoped that he won't have to go that far for both of them. He is all I have got and all the vampyres have for a leader. If he dies, so, so much would go amiss.
