Chapter 30
Frederick Claw ~
"Get out of my way!" Thomas said totally ignoring my questions still walking closer.
"Why on earth will you want to do this? I won't lie to you but at this point in time, I don't think that I have ever hated someone to the extent to which I hate you! Are you conversant with all what you have put a lot of these creatures through just because of your thirst and hunger for magical power?" I asked this time stretching out the lycan slayer to his direction for him to know that he must give me an answer.
"Get out of my way!!" he said this time with more force in his words.
"No! you're going to answer me and you're going to answer me now!!! I said in anger as I transformed into my vampire form.
By now, Cassius was a few places away from my sword.
"You had your chance!" he said before waving me off into the air telekinetically and with a loud thud I fell to the ground.
I got up with supernatural speed heading straight for him. Clearly, we have had enough chit-chat. It was done trying to make him see reason with me even though clearly, I knew I shouldn't. The time of my words have long passed. It was now time for claws to speak. I gave him a very hard round of punch on his face and another on his belly. Thanks to the effect of the Tree of Magic on the vampires such as me, these alone made quite an impact on him. The punches pushed him backwards and upwards he ended up landing on the bank of the lake of the island.
"Now!!"
I yelled out and Alessia and a couple of witches and warlocks came to the bank of the lake and began casting several spells to keep him attracted to the earth and at the same time install a magical barrier all around the island, a barrier that would open up to anyone except someone with lycan blood coursing through his veins.
I talking and trying to make Cassius see reason with me was just phase one of the plan. Pinning him on the ground and making the barrier was just phase two.
"My turn!" Cassius yelled out and all his nearby surroundings ignited with flames.
Cassius was using the abilities he had sucked out of those phoenixes. Flames were everywhere around him and in no time, he had transformed into a total phoenix. Using his wings, he was able to counter the attracting spell and he flew up, into the sky. He flew heading for the tree and getting to the barrier, it kept him out no matter what force he applied.
"No!" he shouted in anger.
Cassius began throwing flaming balls to the barrier with a force so fast that if he continues, the barrier was sure to come down.
But he didn't.
Just like I predicted, he lacked patience.
Cassius always lacked patience and by the looks of his nature, he always will. Instead, he flew downwards and using telekinetic abilities that I have no idea which creature he had gotten that from, he gripped Alessia and the rest spell casters into the air by the throat. He took one and threw the warlock to the direction of the barrier and he passed through with all ease.
"Drop! The! Barrier! Or! I! Swear! I! Will! Split! You! All! In! Halves!" Cassius said with a scowl to the others.
"How do you expect them to cast the spell that will lower the barrier down if you have them all strangulated?" I asked and immediately, he turned probably, to give me a reply.
I threw my lycan slayer straight at him and using a gateway that Alessia had casted long before Cassius had held her, the sword went through and stuck on the right side of Cassius' chest making him fall to the ground.
I aimed for his heart.
That was the third phase, to kill him once and for all with the lycan slayer.
"Thank you…" he said after a while as he took out the sword from his chest. "For getting rid of the one thing that makes me unable to cross in." he added right before igniting with full might and using his vampyre speed, he passed into the other side of the barrier where I, the warlock and the tree were.
He used a spell to immobilize the warlock and made his own barrier over the island keeping everyone out and only the both of us in. Cassius walked up to me still in his phoenix form. He gripped me by the neck and for some reason, looked at me straight in the eye as though he was looking for something in them.
I was hitched from movement of any sort. I wasn't able to do anything but stare back at him while he did all that.
"Bring me the last flower." Cassius said looking sternly into my eyes before he let go off his grip on me.
The next few seconds went black on me. I lost my free will to him and his magic. In human terms, Cassius had succeeded in brainwashing me. Like a mindless fool, I walked up to the tree and in a swift moment of time, I yanked out the last blooming flower out of the branch of the powerful Tree of Magic.
I placed it softly on my palm and then, I felt a large wave of energy flow through me and that was it. I went unconscious right before the foot of the tree with the flower still glued to my palm. Blue flames began to rise from around me.
"What have I done?" I asked myself in thought before my mind as well went out too.
Blue flames don't just come from nowhere. They can only be conjured up and controlled by a phoenix king and the last person to have such power was Ryan. Besides him, Blue flames come from only one place and it was outside the entire world.
The Underworld.
"Thank you, Frederick! I give you my word that as soon as I get to human world, I will make your niece's death as quick as possible." Cassius said slowly as he walked up to Frederick, went down on one knee and reached out for the flower in his palm and took it before closing Frederick's eyes.
Cassius disappeared into the thin air in a cloud of smoke.
The instant he did, every surviving lycan in the other side, of the land, disappeared with him. The fight ended and the number one question coursing through everyone's mind was – Have we won?
