Jade's pov
"Hi."
My mouth dropped the moment I saw him. This couldn't be happening. There were events happening that I can't explain, thinking he was some sort of supernatural being, and I had gone as far as to thinking he might be an angel, but I guess I was wrong, because there he was, standing front center of our classroom, being introduce by Mr. Smith as a transfer student.
It's nearly summer, who transfer during the end of the school year?
"My name is Augustine." He introduced himself, though his gaze seemed to only focus on me and no one else. Augustine was his name and I was right to guess that it was. He told me it, he whispered it in my head. How did he do that?
"Take your seat, Augustine." Murmured Mr. Smith.
Augustine stepped off, darting his gaze to the seat next to mine and it just now dawned on me that the seat beside me was empty.
What...?
I felt a sudden chill ran down my spine.
Has the seat been empty the whole time? I don't remember it being empty.
Huh? Something is not making sense, like something had been jumbled up in my memory.
He headed straight for the seat like it was reserved for him. Like he knew no one was sitting there or didn't care if it was taken or not.
I can't take my eyes away from his, feeling my heart rate raced again. Dammit!
Crap, crap, crap! What am I going to do? I can't focus when he's beside me like this.
James made an impatient groan behind me. "Take a picture, man! It'll last longer."
Only then Augustine peeled his stare away and glided them over to James. There was no malice in the way he looked, only curiosity. Augustine said nothing while James carried a daring ferocity in his eyes telling Augustine to do something, take a jab at him, say something back. It'll give him a chance to be aggressive, but Augustine kept that serene look on him as though James had no effect on his temper at all.
I looked at both, waiting for a small argument to erupt, but nothing happened. Augustine turned his head around focusing his attention somewhere else, making James fluster with anger.
"Calm down, Mr. Willis." Murmured Mr. Smith to James. "Let's make sure Augustine feels welcome on his first day of school, not threatened."
James threw his arms up in both protest and defeat. "Whatever, man!"
