Chapter 5 - A Diary

When I entered the store, the part-timer glanced at me then altered it to his phone's screen. I didn't pay attention to it. I walked straight into the food section. A large number of supplies were piled up. This area is not fond of rich people, as a result, they bought low-cost foods from some unknown companies. I especially like Mr. Kurrus cup. They made awesome noodles. The taste was so tasty that whenever I remember it, I beat it with joy.

But in this store, there weren't Kurrus Cup Noodles hence I was kind of disappointed.

Finding no other way, I took a bowl of instant noodles that I liked second to Kurrus. Though the flavor I want wasn't there, The shrimp one. The second choice was the crab flavor. I took that one. Cause I have to eat something, the world doesn't go as you wish. If the world changes, you have to adjust to it. You got no choice.

With noodles, I need something for a drink. So, I went near the refrigerator where all sorts of beverages were placed. For some reason, the upper cabinet was empty. Perhaps, the part-timer forgot to fill it. Every morning the truck came to refill the items that were needed. So, there's no reason that the upper cabinet could be empty. Speaking of truck, I heard when you hit by a truck, you got to teleported to another world. Though it was in the light novels I read. Let me remember what it was called, oh, 'isekai'. That's not possible in real life.

I gently took an Orange Juice from down cabinet and went near the counter. I placed the items on the counter while saying, "I'm buying those." The part-timer didn't give me any reply as he was utterly busy on his phone. I see he is playing open-world games. This kind of game is made with a large map so that players could explore and collect rare items, character boost, extra exp, and complete multiple side missions. When I first get to know about such games, I played them all the time despite day or night. This type of game is awfully addicting. The map was so big that you had to play more than twelve hours in a day to fully complete the map. But I got frustrated in the midway and dumped it saying it's a boring game.

Nevertheless, This is not his time to play. He should be doing his job. I see the owner of the shop is not here so he's playing in his free will. To bring him to this world from the virtual world I slapped the counter table hard enough to grab his attention. This time he glanced at me with disgust in his eyes. His expression was like what the hell does this shit want? Then he placed the QR code reader on the labels one by one. *Beep* *Beep* "It will be 5 dollars and 15 cents." Said, the part-timer as he packed the items in a bag. My hands went to the pocket. I pulled a ten-dollar note. The note was in a bad shape. So I straighten it a little with both hands and gave it to him. "Here's your chance." I took the change and the bag, closed the door, and left the store. I was thinking if I encounter his boss along the way, I would definitely complain about him. But then again, could I really do that? Thoughts came to my mind and so I let that plan slip out of my mind.

"Oh!" -sigh, One can't live a single day without food. I walked past the store but stopped midway. I saw a dumpster beside the store. People who live nearby are the ones who put all their garbage in there. Various kinds of things are fallen in there. Like a bag of tomatoes, old books, a broken tv, PlayStation 2, etc. But what took my attention was a diary. A decent-sized one with a leather cover. A pocket diary to be prisce. The only thing it makes it interesting was a splash of blood or red-colored something on the front cover. The leather soaked it and it looked like a cursed object or that's what I believed. Due to my interest in those types of stuff, I occasionally picked up weird items that I found attractive. You can call it a hobby of mine. For that purpose, I strolled to the dumpster. Gazed at the diary for a few minutes. Should I do it? I contemplated for a few moments. It's not stealing. They put it on here because they don't need it. I moved my head horizontally to see if anyone is around. If anyone saw me picking from the trash, they would clearly believe me as a poor beggar. I guess there's no one. I moved my hand towards the diary to pick it up. As I grabbed the diary, I felt a terrible pain in my heart. It felt like my heart stopped for a moment and was unable to function. My body was snapped out. Ah! I tried to moan but was incapable to do that. I fell to the ground hardly while grabbing my chest with one hand. The pain is not going down instead it was gradually increasing rapidly. It's was so excruciating that I could not able to even think of anything out than stopping the pain. A plastic bag of a Chinese food was fallen before my eyes. A pack of empty beer was also beside me. My face was swollen with the pain. I tried to crew to the front of the alley. I shifted slowly, the sunlight made my body visible. I saw no one in the street. Let alone a human there was nothing there. It looks like the world wants me to die here. As I saw no one was there, my hope was dimed in an instant. The place where people throw their trash. Am I trash? I got that feeling, the burning in my chest made me see my entire life flashed before my eyes. Everything I did that was right or wrong I remembered that.

"Sorry mother," I said with tears in my eyes. Sorry for everything. This worthless life of mine might deserve it. I thought with a sorrowful grin. In this dark alley where nobody wants to visit, here I breathe my last breath. As I made my last vow, I slowly but surely closing my eyes with no hope
