Chapter 13 - Stone Stele

"Haldir, wait for us inside the blacksmith. As for Lia and Estel, follow us to the Barracks. While the last two should wait for us inside the Village Hall."

"Yes! Your Majesty!" They bowed and left for their designations. While Lia and Estel followed us inside the barracks.

The village has a total of five buildings: Blacksmith, Barracks, Village Hall, and two Residential Houses.

When they arrived at the barracks they saw two stone steles. It looks like a normal stone pillar. What's unique is that there is a glowing symbol in the middle of the stone steles. One looks like a light sword while the other looks like a bow and arrow.

"What is this Big Brother?"

"These are stone steles that allow a person to choose a class of their own. They will give you skills needed for the class"

"Isn't it a bit restrictive?"

Avery smiled at the question as people would rarely question the system and follow the path laid for them. Though that is a mistake as there is actually a lot of freedom given. This was not known until later on.

"Yes, that is what it appears at first glance. You are actually given a lot of freedom. The system only gives you the standard skills for that class, but that does not mean you are not free to experiment and make a skill of your own."

"So you mean that we could make a skill of our own?"

"Yes. The stone stele would only give you the standard skills for a particular class. But you still need to practice your sword art and how you use those skills in order to be effective in battle. Plus, if you know how those skills work and do it manually without the help of the system then the skill efficiency and effectiveness would be incomparable."

"So a person who activates the stele would only have the knowledge to activate the skill and other basic info. But if we train them then they would be much stronger than the standardized versions."

"Yes. These stone steles and the classes they give are only guides. They would impart knowledge, give skills, and some bonus stats. That is why it is essential to train them if we want a strong army."

"Do we need stone steles for all classes? and How do we acquire more of these steles?"

"You actually don't need these steles, you could acquire the class by training in a particular way. But they are still good for passing information as the system directly imparts it to your mind. So all you need is to train them or even manually activate them."

"As for acquiring them, you could get them from events or by finding them in the wilderness. You could also research and build one yourself. But this method is difficult if you don't know what to research and dont have the materials to build the stone stele."

Avery then continued to explain other details and information about the stone steles. After a couple of minutes Avery then went to do what he went here for.

"Lia, Estel, I want you to each choose a class."

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

Lia then proceeded to go to the sword stone stele while Estel went to the bow and arrow stone stele.

They both touched and activated it at the same time. Their bodies glowed for a second before returning to normal. There is no change in their appearance but they should have acquired the knowledge of their respective class.

Avery then went and activated the sword stone stele. As he is more familiar with the short swords alongside magic. The same glow happened. He then looked at his sister and asked.

"How about you Little Yue, what class do you want?"

"Hmm.. You said that we don't need the stone to acquire the class right?"

Avery nodded.

"Then can you teach me how to become a mage! I wanted to know what magic feels like. Plus if I am a mage then maybe we can complement each other!"

"Of course! If that is what you want then i'll gladly teach you how to become a mage."

"Thank you! Big Brother!" Yue launches herself into Avery to hug him.

Avery catches his sister and hugs her back.

*Inhales* *Exhales*

'Aghhh, Big Brother smells so good. It's so warm and I just want to stay like this forever.' Yue thought and hugged his brother tighter.

Avery notices what her sister is doing but just smiles and lets her do as she pleases.

After a couple of seconds Avery said and lets go of his sister "Come on now, we still have to go to the blacksmith to get our weapons."

Losing the warm feeling, Yue pouts and looks to the side.

Seeing this Avery smiled and thought of something. He then leaned over and kissed her on the forehead.

Feeling something warm and wet on her forehead, Yue realizes what happened and instantly becomes happy.

"Let's go." Avery said and starts to walk away after seeing her happy again. Yue then hurriedly follows after him followed by Lia and Estel.

After some walking they then arrived at the blacksmith. Haldir is standing by the door waiting for them.

"Your Majesty!" Haldir greeted.

"Are there some weapons inside?"

"Yes, Your Majesty, there are a couple of light swords and bows inside with a couple of wooden arrows."

"How about the utilities and resources inside?"

"They are all new and in top condition. The equipment is also complete. Unfortunately, there are no resources to use inside so we will need to gather some first before we could craft some weapons."

"Nn.. that's fine, I want you to gather some branches in the forest nearby and craft them into some more arrows."

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

After that, the siblings and the two generals then went into the storage room to equip themselves. Lia took the rapier while Estel took a bow and a couple of arrows. Avery then took a sword while Yue looked around with interest.

They then left the blacksmith and went to the village hall to meet the other two.

"Your, Majesty!" Elrand and Lindir greeted.

"How's the food and resources of the village?"

"Your Majesty, We have enough food and water to last us a week. There are also some wheat seeds, simple farming tools, ironware, and firewood stored inside the storage room."

"Okay, I want you to write and record all the resources we have including those in the blacksmith. After that, prepare the necessary things such as housing, food, and other things for the villagers that are about to be summoned later on."

"Summoned?" Yue tilts her head and asks her big brother.

"Yes, summoned. Did you see the platform at the center of the plaza? Those are actually not simple platforms. Every day at noon, a certain number of villagers are summoned at the center. They will have all the stats and traits of an Aevum Elf. Even though they will have the trait and stats, it will still not be the same as those five."

"Amazing, but how are they summoned? Are they reincarnated? Do they know what happened in their past?"

"Actually, I don't know how or what method is used. I only know that when we ask them later, they would say that they have no memories of their identity and only know of their name and some basic information."

"Nn." Yue nodded and was in deep thought.

"No need to think of such things now. Let's go, I'll teach you some magic until the first batch of villagers."

"Really!! Then let's go!" Yue then left the topic and became excited.

"Lia, Estel, and Lindir. Follow us. I'll also teach you guys some magic."
