Chapter 14 - Magic I

The group then went outside the village and went to the lake nearby.

The lake was calm and crystal clear as it reflects the sun. There is a forest on one side of the lake. While the other is a grassy plain. At the far end of the lake, you could see a river going somewhere. There are also some birds, small animals around the area. Coupled with the flowers blooming around the grassy plain, the place looks really peaceful.

Avery, along with the group, was mesmerized by the sight.

Yue was amazed by the sight and proceeded to run towards the location to take a closer look.

"Wow! This place looks more beautiful!" Yue exclaimed as she ran and laughed around the flowery plains.

"Your Majesty! Be careful!" The two generals exclaimed worriedly as they saw Yue run away from them.

'Haa.. as expected of a legendary starting location, not only does it have a guarantee of resources but also has a beautiful and peaceful location.'

Avery smiles and looks at her sister who is laughing and enjoying herself followed by the two worried generals.

"Your Majesty?" Lindir worriedly asked.

Avery then turns his head and looks at the worried Lindir.

'Sigh.. These guys can be a bit protective sometimes just like my past subordinates'

"It's fine, let her enjoy herself. Plus the location we are in gives us an advantage since we can see who approaches us in this plains."

Avery then turns his head and looks at his sister running away from the two generals.

They then enjoyed themselves and relaxed for a couple of minutes before starting the lessons.

Avery then walks and sits on top of a rock in the grassy plain beside the lake.

"Take a seat in front of me. I'll teach you the basics of magic."

"Ok, Big Brother!"

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

"Mana is essential to use Magic, it exists in the atmosphere. There are three factors that influence the strength of our magic: Control, Density, and Purity."

Control as the name implies is our control over mana. Having a high control over mana means we can cast and manipulate spells easier and faster. Aside from this, being able to control your mana with ease will allow you to spend less mana in your spells.

Density on the other hand determines the strength of your spell. A spell that is casted using a dense mana will deal more damage than a spell that is casted normally. However, as the mana gets more dense, the more difficult it is to control.

Lastly, the Purity of mana. This factor simply makes it easier to control and condense mana. So the purer the mana, the easier it is to condense and control. Some spells also require a certain amount of purity in order to activate. The purity of the mana a person can have is determined by their environment, so the purer the mana in the atmosphere they absorb the purer the mana they will have. Aside from these, mana can also be purified by manually purifying them by meditating.

"Big Brother, how is the amount of mana a person can use determined?"

"It is actually determined by the density and number of mana circles they have"

A person can form a mana circle by rotating it in a circular manner inside their body. The higher the control over mana the easier it is to form the mana circle.

If a person wants to increase the amount of mana they have without forming another circle. Then they need to condense the mana inside the mana circle, but as they condense mana, the condensed mana also starts to put stress on the mana circle. So it is imperative to form a strong mana circle capable of handling the stress placed upon it by the condensed mana.

After forming a mana circle, then the mana circle would start to generate its own mana. It would generate the same density and purity you cultivated inside the mana circle.

"Do we need to manually condense and purify the mana, Big Brother? Sitting all day and meditating is very boring."

"Hahaha, Yes it is boring and normally a person needs to manually condense and purify mana. However, some races have certain advantages over others. And of course as Elves, we have certain advantages."

First is that if a race has 10 points in their magic stats, their body would minisculely condense and purify on their own so as they age they become stronger. Now, as Aevum Elves, we have a total of 20 points in our magic stats. That means that our body condenses and purifies mana faster than a race that has 10 points in their magic stats. Plus, the trait 'Master's of Magic' would only make it easier for us to control, condense, and learn mana.

Do note that there are some stats that cannot be raised. Some of which are Magic and Intelligence. These two are determined by their birth and race. Even if a person studies, it will not increase the intelligence stat and would only increase the knowledge they know. The intelligence stat only makes it so that the person has an easier time learning, thinking, and retaining knowledge.

"Now mage rankings are determined by the amount of mana they have."

[Mage Apprentice] -> [Mage] -> [Great Mage] -> [High Mage] -> [Arch Mage] -> [Heaven Mage]

And the mana they have are 100 Mana, 1,000 Mana, 10,000 Mana, 100,000 Mana, and so on.

With these you can clearly see the difference in each rank as one Beginner Mage can take on ten Beginner Mage Apprentices without considering other factors such as control and spells.

"Now you might already have an idea on how to form magic circles on your own right?"

"Yes Big Brother. It's like I know how to form it subconsciously."

"It's as expected with the traits and magic stats we have. However, you might think that rotating mana in a circle repeatedly and stabilizing while avoiding breaking it is the best way right?"

"Nn!"

"Well you are right as it is the standard way to form a mana circle. But if we want to have a strong mana circle capable of handling dense mana then we have to do the exact opposite, and that is to break the mana circle repeatedly."

"??" The four have confused looks on their faces.

"Yes, you heard right. We have to rotate it repeatedly until it breaks. But instead of repeating from scratch we have to act fast and gather the broken parts and rotate them again. We have to do this process ideally at 24 times. In this way the mana circle would be able to handle the stress placed upon it by the dense mana."

"However, there is a prerequisite to this method, and that is the need to have excessive control over mana. As the number of times you break and rotate the mana increases, the harder it is to control the mana. So that is why we need to have excessive control over mana in this method. It is because the mana becomes denser and more violent as we climb the number of times we break and rotate the mana circle."

"Now let's start controlling mana and then form our first circle using this method"

"What is this method called Big Brother?"

"It's called the Heavenly Forming Method."
