Chapter 22 - A Beast, A mission and A lie

The wings of a fallen Raknorki, sputter to life its bright orange blood staying behind with each flap of it wings. It flies like a drunken sailor bobbing and weaving against the faintest breeze. It struggled flying over the massive wall. Soldiers cheering the dying beast believing it is fleeing from the battle. Raknori do not think like men or so men believe. A lot of what men believe is wrong, and being so disjointed man is unreasonable. The Raknori flies to a small hill beyond the river, a collection of Raknori in fine carapaces of many colors each surrounding the Ai'Roknari...

Grid goes to the back of store after Njuko leaves. Removing his lumber some armor. His boy is thin and full of scars. He is also extremely toned every fiber of his muscles visible as he picks up what should be a light armor. The strain thou stretches his fibers putting it on. The breast plate is lined with two gold bars going from the very top of shoulder down to his ankles. It looks more like finely knitted than forged. The way it fits him it has come alive, a small pulse of energy flowing through the whole set. Grid lets the energy outs king up his sword Laga, A thick double bladed green metal. He sits waiting for Njuko to return the last mission they will do together.

"Sound the horn! Deploy the Calvary to the main gate. I want all you men ready to move in next ten minutes. Honor guard to me we ride..." A massive explosion goes just as Commander Myr gets on her horse Instead of waiting for the ringing to clear up she signals a banner man. The honor guard mounts brown horses in full plate armor and follow Commander Myr.

Njuko is making his way up the one hundred and fifty meter tall wall of the city [author note fixed this error you'll should of Said I used feet]. The wall is barely damaged its edifice has engravings of creatures Njuko can only make out a part of it. The wall is a dark stone but more importantly cool to the touch almost cold. He gets a feeling of intense anticipation from how cold the wall is.

Njuko moves faster to the top, the soldiers are wearing the national army uniform. It's is a simple Grey pants and jacket with a different armor set depending on the unit. The gaird unit in front of Njuko. Wear blue capes have long swords and shield. A breast emblemed with a creature he has never seen and greaves and shin guards. The men do not attempt to stop him when he makes his way to the command zone.

Commander Vers is a tall broad shouldered brute of a man. His uniform is the same gray with a Grey and gold trim his collar is also Grey and gold. On his back is a long bow and arrow. His eyes are old and numb his cataracts making it hard to make out color. His gerying hair russled by his fingers.

Njuko says "Reporting in to Commander Vers with a message from Commander Grid.

A stern yet contemplative voice responds," Final orders I can follow. My old knees were just about to give out. You my boy sit here and wait let me see what the old boss has in store for this new enemy."

Commander Vers stumbles after opening the letter his skin looking like someone who hasn't applied lotion in a year. He reads its over and over. The third time he read the message he mumbled something that sounded like fury to Njuko but the man's voice had been to soft. He also keeps glancing at Njuko.

The atmosphere turns tense the old mans shoulders seem heavier. Even the air is heavier. Njuko can't actually breathe. His whole body is stiff. Commander Vers is looking up. Most of his soldiers are on the ground grasping for breathe.

Hundreds of Roknarki fall from the sky. Their bodies crushed by the force that is bringing them to the ground. The Aziza picking off stragglers and the few survivors. Commander Vers helps Njuko to his feet the force does lessen however being on his feet he feels much better. Njuko looks in horror at the men struggling all around him.

"You have to learn everything you can, whenever you can. Look at the men they are taking swallow breathes to survives each of them without being told came to the same conclusion. The rule is simple do only what you can." Commander Vers said to Njuko his Grey eyes never leaving the clouds it as if he can see battle.

The force last less than a minute, the river Hass turned red too, battle is going on. The Raknor attacking on every front all at once. Njuko asks the friendly seeming Commander Vers, "Do you know why they are attacking?"

"Haven't got clue at all I'm only a royal guard captain." Njuko doesn't question further because the old man is actually struggling. Njuko tries to stand on his own as the force dissappears, all the Aziza flying back to there floating Boulders.

Njuko feels normal, the force leaves him like a drop of sweat. Suddenly everyone is getting back up the number of dead bodies and fires spreading. Many men in the streets lost their lives during the minute of stiffness. Unlike the Raknorki which fell to their death. The Raknori were still fairly mobile and during that time slaughter and turned the tide against most soldiers on the ground.

Commander Vers is collected his hand resting on his bow. "Twelve , tell Commander Grid it's twelve."

Njuko takes a second to realize that Commander Vers is talking to him. He salutes the air around the old man is dense, like coming home to find your parent waiting for you. Njuko is about to go down the stairs when he is pulled by one of the men.

The man is just as old as his Commander but with a head full of black hair and bread so long he is wrapping it around his neck in a braided necklace. Without saying anything he pushes Njuko off the wall. He lands on the canopy hold a flag and rolls to the ground only falling a short distance to the ground.

Njuko lies on the ground he dislikes heights even more now. His heart a wild cacophony of violent drumming. He knows he is alive yet it is still pounding. He would have stayed on the ground but the sounds of screams and another fireball flying over head. Give him no choice but to make his way back to the Grids store.

Njuko is surprised by how quickly the battle has intensified it only took a minute for everything to from manageable to people all scrambling to help or running from certain death. The bodies of people all over the ground which is odd since there should be Hunters amongst them. However as far as he can tell everybody here is Seeder.

Grid new armor makes Njuko stare at the man. 'Is wearing living metal?' He has received a calling before from Mduju of a picture of an Finder who was wearing something similar. The way the metal moves with the body is very distinct.

"What did Vers says to you?" Grid pushing him out the door walking towards the west.

"Twelve he said twelve." Njuko replies walking under his own power gentle guided by grids hand at the back of neck. They both move through the bodies in the street.

"That's disappointing but not unexpected, so what do think of our new enemy?" Grid asks still guiding him they a moving without helping anybody. Grid doesn't even flinch when a person is cut down right before them.

The Raknori vanished as soon it tried to lunge for them. Njuko answers, "They are very strong we are losing more soldiers than them."

Grid says, "I know that, the men know that. I'm looking for anything special. Why are they attacking." Grid is stressed he involuntarily gripped harder on Njuko's neck.

Njuko thinks while observing the great number of dead around him. He remember he met a Raknori that was different from the rest. He explains to Grid. Grid agrees with him that it is certainly odd for since none of the others have done that. Then they spoke about the Commanders.

Njuko clearly prefers Commander Myr, she is a powerful leader of men after all. Njuko also didn't spend much time with the Commander Vers. His impression of is that Commander Vers is steel.

Grid thinks for a whole longer then he holds Njuko's head and they appear next to the docks. Hundreds of Raknororca with their Carapaces cracked through. The holes in their bodies must of been made by extremely strong people.

There is a Blue tent that they start walking towards. It's strange because it's where one would expect cargo from ships to be not a tent. Inside the tent is a group of doctors or people dressed in yellow overalls covered in orange liquid. The bodies of Raknors lying all around even a varient Njuko hasn't seen covered in dirt.

"Stay behind me listen to everything," Grid has to smack Njuko in the stomach to get his attention.
