"I'm sorry, Kade, I didn't want to be in that position with the goddess. I don't even know how I got into this tent,"
"Don't worry, Dak, I know how she is. All the gods are the same. They all have a heel that makes them a little more like us, I guess, but I'm not too fond of Kiratorpelis. She doesn't care about anyone's feeling when it comes to men," Kade said in a huff. "That good for nothing goddess does nothing but ruin other people's happiness!"
This tone had the sound of previous experience, and I don't think this would be the best time to rehash those feelings. Just then, Stell burst into the room. He had a worried and confused look on his face.
"They're gone!" He said, panting. "One of the tents fell, and I was helping set it back up, and then I smelt the most exquisite and amazing smell. I turned around, and I couldn't see anyone. Everyone was gone."
"Kira took them to the farm. I hope," I said.
"Nice of her to say goodbye," Stell said.
"Oh, I think it was appropriate," Kade said, giving me a sideways look.
Stell gave us both a look, then shrugged it off. He never let much bug him, not his circus, not his barrel full of monkeys to worry about.
"Well, it is getting very late. I think you two should get some sleep," Kade said to us. "I'll stay up and keep watch.
"Are you sure? I asked, but she just waved her hand at me indifferently and left the tent.
"You should go talk to her, you know," Stell said to me.
"What am I supposed to say to her? I didn't mean for the goddess to pin me down and mount me." I protested.
"You didn't stop her either, and I see the way she looks at you, Dak. We have a long way to go, so you don't want her upset with you." Stell said to me. Stell always made to much sense. I got my self up and walked out of the tent. Kade was sitting on a large rock at the edge of the camp. As I walked over to her, I started to get a lump in my throat. I wasn't sure what to say, and I felt embarrassed, even going over to her.
"I'm sorry, Kade, I shouldn't have let her get so close to me like that, and I should have heeded your words of caution," I said as I came up to the rock.
"It's not your fault. Kira does this without ever thinking. she has done a lot worse in the past." Kade said with a faraway look. "When I was younger, Kiratorpelis made a man I loved to fall in love with another woman. She did it only because she thought that they looked like a good couple. That bitch tore 30 turns of my life away from me, and all I could do was watch in horror. the man I loved walked away from me into another woman's arms and kissed her like she was the one he had just spent 30 turns with." She had begun to cry, and I understood why. This callous goddess had destroyed her life on a whimsical thought.
I walked over to her as she sat on the boulder and enclosed her in my arms. Maybe it wasn't just the event that would need straightening out. I thought as she cried into my chest. The moon was high and filled in the sky with its light that bathed us in a silver glow. Her small body pressed against mine, and she slowly began to settle down. She pulled away from me and looked up at me with those magnificent amethyst eyes. They were like shimmering gems, and my heart started pounding in my chest.
"Thank you, " she let out with a sigh.
"For what?" I asked as I moved back from her.
"I needed to get that out of me, I haven't talked about what she did to me in a long time, and it felt good to tell someone, especially after seeing her again, " she said to me.
" I won't let her hurt you again, " I told her.
"She is a goddess. How could you stop her?" Kade asked me.
"There is something that's been bothering me since the beginning of the meeting with Kira. Didn't you notice something different about her compared to Mesogalara?" I asked her. She looked at me, puzzled. Then something registered, and her expression changed to that of understanding.
"I didn't pass out when she was around, but Meso's presence seems to feel like a mountain is pushing down on me, " she said.
"Exactly, I don't think that your gods are true gods. I think that they were selected as caretakers for this world. They don't seem that omnipotent from the actions of the two we have dealt with. What is the third God like?" I asked.
"He is different from the others; he is the God of balance and has always defended us from Belzenrog's scorn and tried his best to keep Kiratorpelis from causing more trouble than normal. Though like the other gods, he has not answered our call. I was surprised to see that wrench of a God had shown up, to be honest, " she explained. The night sky above was littered with stars, and the moon continued to shine brightly like a pale sun. Off in the distance, we could hear eerie bird calls and the sounds of insects buzzing in the razor grass. I looked down at Kade and smiled.
"No matter what happens, we will figure out what these dark-eyed monsters are up to and put a stop to it," I said with fire starting to light up inside me.
I will protect this beautiful girl and the people of this world with Stell's help. This place was messed up and it was our job to fix it! We also will deal with these so-called gods.
