Chapter 21 - Mixed Emotions

As the rain finally slowed down and came to an end. There were murmurs of wonder and amazement throughout the women and children. The warm glowing rain had washed all the pain and injuries away, and the magic had taken out the painful memories. Nothing would ever be enough to fill the void created by these monsters.

Where would these people go now? I looked down at Kade, who had regained consciousness in my arms. The gore and mess had washed off us in the rain, and she looked up at me with deep and intense purple eyes that sparkled like amethyst. I almost became lost in her eyes until the world came back to me as I realized I was staring at her.

"Are you alright?" I asked, slightly blushing from gawking at her

"I feel good, better than I did before. it feels like I've been sleeping for an entire day," she said, yawning and stretching in my arms. "What happened? Where is Stell? Is he all right?" I put my index finger to her and made a "shhh" sound.

"Stell is alright, he's just over clearing out all the bodies from the camp," I said with a motion of my hand to the west. "We think it will be best if we stay here for the night, everyone is in good condition, but it would be too dangerous for anyone to travel at night with this large party."

"We will have to send them to Parulex," Kade said to me as she readjusted her dress.

"Do you think we can just let them go on their way alone?"

"What choice do we have?"

She was right, but that didn't mean I had to like it.

"We need to gather up all the cloaks and any coats the children are wearing," I told Kade. She looked at me, puzzled.

"Why?" She asked.

"So I can clean them up," I told her as I began to collect the cloaks.

It took us almost a full hour to gather them all up. Some were ripped and torn or stained with blood. Once we had all the cloaks in a single pile, I walked up and kneeled. I began to gather my will, and then Meso appeared, startling me and causing me to tip backward.

'What are you doing!' -Meso.

He thundered in my mind. I cringed at the echoing sounds of his voice that was rattling around the inside of my skull.

"What are you talking about, Book?" I asked, and I knew that was the wrong way to word things.

I was flung into the air from the ground over the top of the clothes. I landed in a neat crumpled pile on the other side. Stell had just made it back into camp at that point and had seen me do my assisted leap over the pile of clothes and came over to help me up. Still covered in blood, but it looked like he had made some attempt to clean himself up.

"You need to stop antagonizing him, Dak," Stell said as he helped me up.

"I don't get what his problem is, I was just trying to fix these cloaks and coats for these people," I said.

'You keep creating new spells you will blackout, and the more you blackout, the longer you will be out. Last time it was only half a day. What happens next time, and you're out for a day or two? What then?' -Meso.

'But over time, we will be able to do it more often with practice, right.' -Stell.

'Yes, over time. You boys have the power of gods and the ability to use any spell from the book unlimited times as long as you have the magic to draw. Remember, though your bodies hold magic, it is special magic left in reserve from your home plane. That magic only recharges when you rest.' -Meso.

'So, what do we do then?' -Kade..

'You will have to request a favor from the idiots in Nowhere.' -Meso.

'Idiots?'

'The gods of this shining rock.' -Meso.

'So, I just ask them?'

'They can't intercede unless you do request them, but know this, all gods are fickle, and their help isn't always what you intended or even wanted.' -Meso.

Meso sent and then disappeared.

"Who are your gods?" Stell asked, turning to Kade.

"Well, there is Diagon, the God of Balance and Life. Kiratorpelis, goddess of Neutrality and Love. Finally, the God of Death and Chaos, Belzenrog." She said

"I think we should probably ask the god of love to help these people get back to safety. She seems like the best for the job," I said. Then Kade took on a face of distrust tinged with a bit of...jealousy?

"Be careful what you wish for with that one," she said coldly. "She is known for not caring about who she bestows her "love" on."

"So then we shouldn't ask her?"

"I don't care what you do!"

Kade shouted at me and then turned and stormed off. Stell let out an audible groan.

"Well, if we want to help these people, we are going to have to ask this Kiratorpelis," I said. Stell just shook his head.

So I proceeded with getting down on my knees and clasping my hands together. Truthfully, I had never prayed or asked the gods for anything, since we had no gods on our planet that we knew.

I guess I just needed to ask for her help, and she would come? Meso didn't give me much instruction, and he seemed quite sour as he left. What's the worst thing that could happen? There's that loaded question again...

"Oh great goddess of love and neutrality, I beg of you to lend us your strength in aiding these poor ragged women and their children to safety." I closed my eyes and pleaded to the sky.

Then, there was the sound of cloth rustling behind me, and then a warm breath on the back of my neck near my left ear.

"Mmmmh, my dear boy. You beg of me?" a soft, seductive voice breathed in my ear.

The warmth of her breath sent chills down my spine. Her scent washed over me like a warm wave. I opened my eyes and turned around, still on my knees.

She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Her face was only finger width from mine. When I looked into her blue eyes, it was like falling. They pulled me into her.

"What can I do for you, my handsome traveler? Would you like me to make your wildest dreams come true?" she said as she ran her hand down the front of my tunic, seeming to feel over every inch of my chest.

I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, ready to jump out if she came any closer.

"Ah...no, we need to get these women and children to safety."

I was trying to pull back from her, but I was on my knees. As I tried to move, I just ended up making me tip over backward and somehow falling in a tent. Then Kiratopelis was on top of me, straddling my hips. She had a grey dress that had slid up, and I could feel her warm nakedness pressing down on me.

" Oh, can I help women and children! What kind of goddess would I be if I didn't? But don't you think we could have some fun first?" She said as she ground her hips into mine.

That made me blush furiously, and I tried to get up, but she pushed me back down. This situation wasn't right. Remembering the look Kade had on her face when I had mentioned asking Kiratorpelis for help, I gathered resolve. I guess she has had experience with this goddess before, and it wasn't pleasant from her expression.

"Kiratorpelis, I think you are a beautiful woman, but I'm not interested in this, and I know my friend Kade wouldn't be too happy if she saw this," I said, trying to sound confident, but her warm hips were starting to melt my resolve.

"Call me Kira, My dear Traveller. Oh, I'm sure that the little girl won't mind sharing you," she said with a radiant laugh.

"Get the hell off him, you slut," Kade said from the doorway with a large knife in her hand that looked like a sword when she held it.

"Oh, calm down, Little One," she said as she slowly rose from atop me. "I wasn't going to hurt him."

"No, you weren't, I know what you're trying to do to him, you snake!"

"Alright, alright. I will help the people get to where they need to be. I don't see why I can't have just one kiss?"

Kade motioned her knife towards the goddess.

"Yes, my dear, you have made your point. Just remember that I will remember this little miss, and I will be watching." With those final words, The goddess disappeared.
